  • He has the 2.4 SS, not the 2.0 SC/SS or 2.0 TC/SS... The 0-60 stock is around 7.4, and I might be wrong but clocked this after 3 watches at 7 seconds or a hair under. This car is a perfect competitor to the Celica GTS, Eclipse 3.0, and Mini Cooper SS. It is a nice set-up for having displacement and high compression instead of forced air induction.

And my brother has an SS S/C over 130,000 miles on it and he has never had a problem with it, besides the left motor mount at about 30,000 which was a recall anyway. He has a stage 3 kit with meth and a ton of suspension mods and its a daily driver that he uses at the track about 2 times a month.

    Maybe when it was stock u could beat me, but i just finished installing my Synapse "EcoTechnik" Big turbo kit the other day....i haven't had it dyno tuned yet, but the kit states 371whp and 383tq up from 240whp and 260tq....and that's on stock injectors, etc.........i'll put up a vid soon after i get it tuned......M3 or not, have fun trying to keep up lol

  • love the enthusiasm, u could probably take down a stock US 3L M3, but i have a Euro Spec M3 3.2L , stock at 321HP and 260tq but that's just numbers my dyno result is at 440HP and 395 of tq and it's not turbo'd either, the EcoTechnik kit is it on a garret gt turbo? I mean u need a new intercooler, 3 inch downpipe and 3" intake, 4-1 exhaust manifold, just dont blow your car up i raced a stock Cobalt SS TC on my E30 M3 an cobalts r surprisingly fast beat me off the line, didn't pass till 4th gear

  • yeah, they use garret gt turbos for the kit....ZZP performance also has a twin charge kit that puts u at 23psi and 44whp and i think it was 287wtq for the same price, but i didnt wanna blow my engine lol. 22psi is what GM states as the limit for that engine. But my big turbo kit only runs at 16-18psi, and i already upgraded the intercooler, clutch, etc. to handle the power and it drive great. Obviously there is more lag, but at 2200rpm it spools and the pull is rediculous! lol i love it! lol

  • i drove my friend's Cobalt SS TC first FWD car i actually enjoyed driving the torque is superb and handling is exceptional for a FWD good competition for my cars, i haven't owned a FWD car since 2004 which was a Caddy Sevile STS i might be getting a cobalt ss. I am a big BMW fanatic so far i have 5 BMW's in my garage only 3 with an engine lol

    08 Cobalt- still debating haha not yet

    92 325i- parts car bone stock 189hp

    95 M3- track car, 440hp, 395tq

    99 M3- daily commute 317hp, stock

    98 M5- needs new engine

    93 318is- Project car, S62 M5 engine No turbo yet 390 or so Hp, when it's done in the end of June keep an eye out for my vids, ill try to post

    He lost time with his peeling wheel and probably didn't shift optimally, but it was no 11 second 0-60. I counted it hitting 95KMH with a timer at 8 seconds, he didn't get a good time for the reasons mentioned above.

  • thanks man, doesnt it sound sick. I ordered it from turbo tech racing, and its actually an interchangable cool air/short ram intake from Injen. They have intakes for every cobalt model now. You can use the same one I got, on the 2.2 model as well. Hope that helps you :)

  • When I bought mine new with 30 miles on it, it was SLOW. Only after 20k miles did the car start to pick up. The Ecotec I guess needs broken in. My brother's did the exact same. It seemed sleepy and bogged down when the car was off the lot. It is not like that now.
