Once again a nice tutorial! Thanks man, I find your tutorials really handy and easy to follow. You usually do it but could you mention the names of the stock sounds you use during your vids. I can usually find them on my own but I like to have your tutorials playing while Im using Reason rather than have to keep stopping and switching between applications. The pacing of your vids is spot on!
by the way thx 4 the video helped out :), just wondering do u use the same plug ins as this to create all your drum beats? are there other ways of doing this or is this the preferd way by most people?
i think the reverb u have added has simply made your sound very muddy and unclear.. i would put it via aux on a different channel to control it more.. just a thought
I was always under the assumption that i was relatively intelligent until i started using Reason and now i think my IQ dropped about a hundred points. I can't get fuck all out of it. A zillion knobs and pots and no clue as to what does what. I'll stick to rubik cubes. Jeez. :(
you just simply right click and create a sequencer trac for it, you can have seperate sequencer track lanes for any and everything in a combined patch like a combinator
The only things I disagree on the video are the use of EQ and reverb.
First of all, many professionals say it's better to CUT than BOOST with the EQ. It's easier to use compression/limiting after cutting, because you've got more room in it. Of course this depends on what kind of sounds you're looking for.
The reverb takes quite a bit of room from the final mix and in worst case scenario makes the sound very cloudy. I'd use the reverb either through AUX, which requires extra mixers.
This makes it easier to control the reverb. Or if you turn the rack around, you can see all the sample channels on ReDrum have output ports. By choosing the certain channels, like hihats, and combining all the drum channels by using Spider, you can control the individual channels. And there's also to remember that music genre also affects the use of reverb. For example, Happy Hardcore and Makina might not need so much reverb because of the fast tempo.
I'd definately agree with the reverb useage, I've definately learned a lot since posting this video!
Regarding EQ boost I think it can give quite a different sound boosting instead of cutting, or rather I find it easier and quicker to boost one sound than to cut two either side of it, with much the same result (so long as you control the volume it doesn't really matter! :D)
Fuck you dumb faggot this guy is fucking awsome, take the cock out of your ass you fucking little bitch, this guy is trying to help and this is how you thank him ! fucking idiot!
lol. I've watch all of your tutorials. You make it look so easy xD I almost started wondering "How come I couldn't figure that out..." Great vids mate
Hey, I thought this video was great, but what if you would like to make a drum pattern that's longer than just four beats? Say a two measure beat or even a four measure drum beat?
in ReDrum you can change the amount of steps (16 by default), and you can tell ReDrum how long one step should last (1/16th by default). So say you want a four measure beat, just change the amount of steps to 64, and you have a four measure beat :) Or ofcourse you could just make four seperate measures and paste them together. I hope this helped you out, sorry for my bad english :P
Cheers mate, nice one, ive made a load of melodys and bits of tracks, but equalising and getting the beat to sound crisp was what was holding me back so cheers mate
you might argue that programming 4 notes take no time at all, but if you are workinh on multiple patterns, some more complicated, then it is worth it. Also you can experiment with ghost notes on track 2, or if you put notes in track 2 on the 4 beats you can achieve some nice volume effects not normally possiblle with the 3 default values.
..what program did you use??

@4.05....
Instead of programming both channels, press
Tab to flip the rack and connect a CV wire from
redrum channel 1's gate out, to channel 2's gate in,
now any notes played in track 1 will trigger
track 2 as well, usefull for saving time
