  • Good old reliable MacBooks. I have the unibody white one, Late 2009. That one's more like a collector's item. It's an extremely awesome computer, originally a MacBook Pro 13 inch in white, but somehow it managed to not succeed.

  • Hey can this laptop support Snow Leopard and/or Lion?

  • @ollieollieono Yes. Its running Lion very nicely.

  • Just ordered a used one on amazon. I'm stoked as hell. My only Mac before this is am iBook g4, which still works surprisingly well with most programs, but the graphics suck, you can barely play a YouTube video in 240p. But I have played halo on it and it runs perfectly. To reiterate, STOKED AS HELL!!! I really wish they didn't discontinue it though

  • RIP MacBook White

  • I've had that same laptop for five years and the airport thing has never dropped out

  • u want more USB ports?...than get a USB-HUB with ind. 1A powered slots connected to the wall socked and signal coming from one of the USB ports.

Then you can use many USB accessories without the window of low power error showing up in one USB slot, u can do the same with the other USB port too.

  • geek room. lol

  • i realy want one

  • Hmm did I just buy this Mac off you on Ebay?? lol :D

  • I <3 how you british say "Aluminum!!!" :P lol

  • how much does it cost cus i wanna get one for atleas 800 or 900 dollars but i herd that they costed 1300 but thats for the pro

  • almost all the reviews of macbooks ive seen so far are by people with awesome accents.love it

  • =O when i got my macbook it says it had 250g and when i checked it had 249g!!!!

  • @TheVekNilashGoblin Isn't that because it takes like 1g to install all of the original software and stuff like that ?!

  • @TheVekNilashGoblin That comment was sooo stupid... 1g? You must be kidding me...

  • @Franciscoamestoy i also posted this comment 3 months ago.

  • hello,

iv been looking for the macbook pro model that is all silver (including the keys), does anyone know what that model is called and where i could get it? cus all i can find is the one with the black keys.

    any info is welcome,

    thnxs

  • @nanananalalala That model is also called the MacBook Pro, however Apple stopped the manufacture of that design in approximately 2008. Your best bet is to find a used one on eBay, as far as a new model like that goes - Apple just dont make em anymore :(

    Hope that helps,

    Chris :)

  • @chrismacguy ahhhhhhh mannn, thats what i was afraid of. jesus why would they stop makin those, the black keys are so ugly.

ah well. thnxs a lot for the info.

    cheers

  • @nanananalalala

Sorry, man, but that model was withdrawn in 2008.

I guess you could get one on ebay

  • Does the macbook you have, have a glowing stanby light, like on the iMac?

  • @PilotAD1 Yes it does, in fact every Mac from about 1998 has this feature (Any G4,G5 and most G3s, as wellas all intel macs.) :)

  • Ok but i've seen a couple of reviews on the imac and som say its not the best computer to play games on.

  • @pitraZe No , it's not a computer to play games on lol.

  • Can you play Windows games on mac

  • @pitraZe If you emulate windows using a product such as VMWare Fusion or Parallels, or you decide to install windows natively (where you choose on turning it on which OS you want) using BootCamp you can, however you cant run Windows Games directly on Mac OS X without either a Windows License for BootCamp or VMWare Fusion/Parallels

    Chris :)

  • Ok thanks you have helped me out a lot

  • Sorry epic fail menth 21.5 inch. but one last question whats best of the mac desktops or laptop? but don't care of the cost right now

  • @pitraZe The best of the best for your usage is an iMac, I say this because its easy and beautiful - what you describe makes it appear that a Mac Pro wouldnt be for you as it is pointless in a way - much better to get a iMac now and then save if you think you need a Mac Pro as what comes in 2 years will be better than now anyway. - the 21.5" or 27" iMac would both suit you really well :)

  • But i've been thinkin on the iMac 13,3 inch but we will see

  • Ok thanks dude.

  • Sorry menth watch

  • 1.What is garageband

2.And i am going to buy a macbook laptop what do you recommend for a guy thats going to surf on the Internett wathing movies and listend to music

  • @pitraZe 1. Garageband is Apples Home Music Creation and Recording Software Package.

    2. Any MacBook will work for you and it really is only limited by your budget and which machine appeals most to you (If you want really light, cheap and portable, the brand new 11.6" MacBook Air may be worth a look)

    Chris.

  • bloody brit

  • I'd get the airport card changed by Apple. That overheating thing is not normal.

  • #LOL

  • what about speed, in a windows intel core 2 duo is kind of crappy? how did the performance last throughout the time you've had it?

  • @TheCookiemonstrrr It performs really well in Mac OS X - And remember, when this machine was bought in October 2008 a Core 2 Duo was fast. And ofc Mac OS X is actually a very fast system anyway, and Windows is just about 5% as efficent, so performance is just fine for me :)

  • @TheCookiemonstrrr You need to get your facts right bro, a Core 2 Duo isn't crappy in Windows at all.

  • lol

  • My Macbook burns up -- october 2009 model... apple say its normal to get so hot that u cant touch it until it shuts off.. mad.

  • Have you had any problems with the case cracking?

I've seen a lot of people's whose corners have cracked where the screen rest things meet the base.. :)?

  • @Andyisnotmyname - No, I havent had any issues with the case cracking. AFAIK that issue is only relevant to earlier 2006 and 2007 models of the MacBook - mine is a 2008 model, so I dont believe it has the problem, and it certainly has no noticeable cracks anywhere on the case :)

  • what is AirPort?

  • @flyer116 Airport is Apples name for Wi-Fi Connectivity :)

  • @chrismacguy #LOL its called Airport Extreme

  • @GuyofSpades No. Airport Extreme refers to 802.11g and 802.11n. The original name for the 802.11b cards was AirPort, and indeed the whole system is still refered to under the Brandname Airport (Airport Extreme, Airport Express). You are incorrect. Check your facts next time :)

  • @chrismacguy XD I dont own a mac its just that i was on Apple's website and all i saw was airport extreme

  • right now i have a pc laptop that is 15.6" and im thinking about getting either the macbook pro 13 inch or the imac 21.5 in. Im in 8th grade and in high school we have computer labs so i wont actually need a laptop until collegde in 5 years. Right now i use my laptop as a desktop and the battery only lasts about an hour and a half. Do you think i would be better off getting the Imac because it is bigger and has better specs"?? Thanks

  • @forg11111 Hey, Id say get the iMac since in 5 years youll want a new computer anyway, and laptops are generally useless before Grade 12 or so (Ive just finished the UK equivalent of Grade 12, and found a laptop useful, but not necessary) Also, Id recommend that you get the best iMac you can, if you can in any way afford the 27"er Id go with it if you can, as the extra screen space will be invaluable in 3 years or so :)

    Chris :)

  • @chrismacguy ok thanks a bunch

  • The original Macbook used to look SOOO thin and nice. Now it looks thick because we are used to seeing the new unibody macbooks.

  • hi just a quick couple of questions, apart from the odd ipod i am a complete apple macbook n00b so forgive me if the questions seem a bit silly...

    ok,

    1. what software comes with the base model, ie garage band etc and word processing stuff??

    2. what's the deal with wifi and AirPort? are they the same thing with different names? will this macbook connect and work with my tp-link router, or will i have to but an air station thing???? thanks for all your help :)

i liked the review btw :)

  • @hereosinerror hey,

    1. Every single model comes with an identical software package, which is called iLife, this includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb and GarageBand. As far as Word Processing goes, the Mac comes with an equivalent to WordPad, but for a Word equivalent, there are lots of options. iWork is Apples Office Suite, but theres also MS Office for Mac and lots of free options.

    2. Theyre the same thing. All my Macs are connected to a D-Link router, so no Apple Router needed

    Chris :)

  • im getting one of these from school. st. james ftw

  • how much is it ? ;)

  • apple rulz

  • HI chris,

So basically I have some questions for the Macbook.

    1. Even if its on full battery do you still let it get plug in to an outlet? Will overcharging do anything to the batteries?

    2. And how small is the 13.3 inch display? IS it good enough for you?

  • @Sirumakato Hey,

    1. Overcharging as you call it doesnt actually occur, what happens is the battery moves to a state where it only uses enough power to stay charged, and the system just acts as a desktop i.e. the battery is kept at 100% and the machine runs from the outlet supply. I do leave mine plugged in when Im not on the go as it keeps it charged up, and l use it as a desktop.

    2. The 13.3" screen is fine, its the same res as most 14"/15* screens and I use it for Editing etc no probs :)

    Chris

  • thanks for the review. i've decided to buy a macbook this summer, but i know of the new snow lepoard version. i actually prefer the older one you have because i think the snow leporad one is thinner and would break easier. i was hoping you would now where i could buy this older version first-hand. thanks.

  • I own a macbook pro! But i had this one in black for 3 years or so.. I think the macbook is the perfect laptop for anyone! It burns all the windows laptops.... The price is perfect! BUT i think they should have more fun with these. They should make more colors to choose from etc.. Nice video my man!

  • @rednes800 I agree with you on the perfect laptop part, but I think that although colours would be cool, I think that a white model, where you could purchase and replace the case simply and easily with a colour of your choice would be better, that way you could buy for say $49 a blue, red, green or whatever colour option, and then swap between them as you choose :D

  • @chrismacguy Cool, they already have those snap on colors. Maybe not all colors but i loved having the black one. It would just be cool to be able to choose black or white again like they had sold before!

  • @rednes800 I know about the snap-ons, but I was invisaging it being built into the design, without the need to just cover the case, as in replace the case entirely. Also, I agree, if they did I wouldve saved a few extra months and bought a Black model as it just looks better in Black IMHO.

  • In my opinion if you're gonna spend this much on a piece of technology, you might as well do it right and get it from the Apple store or a trusted retailer.

  • ga jelas -_-"

  • i really want it

  • @impossibleznothing you can only get the MacBook in one color... White. It is $999

  • why dont u do a review like...turn it on show whats inside...speed n stuff....pl do it n lemme know!!!

  • no the airport thing doesn't happen that's just your's

  • yes you can use imovie to fix it it comes with most macs go to here

  • would u rely on ebay? is it good to purchase a macbook from there?

  • @KoolKidWilliams1 Make sure its a trusted seller (theyre flagged) or one with very good positive feedback. If they meet that, and respond promptly to a email before you carry out the transaction, then its a very likely they can be relied on to be an honest seller and youll have a good transaction :)

    Hope that helps :)

    Chris.

  • would you know where i could get a macbook more cheaper?

  • GREATTT VIDEOOO!

very helpful. but i do have a couple of questions:

what apps come with the macbook?

&& where can you download apps such as facebook, twiterdeck.. etcc. for your mac

  • @KoolKidWilliams1 The MacBook comes with Mail, Safari, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, iWeb, Spaces, Time Machine, Address Book, iCal, Preview, Dashboard and then loads of other utilities that just hang about. Facebook can be accessed thru the Safari Webbrowser, which works just like Firefox/Internet Explorer. TwitterDeck? - Apps like TweetDeck can be downloaded from the Applications website (google it and go :D - just like downloading on Windows).

  • @chrismacguy can pl lemme know the current price of apple macbook?does it vary from color to color?can u tell me the price of this in india....not the conversion rate but the actual one..i ant fid any...pl:)

  • Your brtitish accent is cool. Nice review

  • @Thestupidguy251 Thanks :D

  • However, I just met my roomate and he apparently just built his own computer. So I might not need to worry about breaking a windows. (by the way that's one thing you can't do with a mac is build one)

What do you guys think about the limitations that macs have, and do they ever bother you?

  • I need a laptop for school next year and from what I can tell, it seems like the macs require no technical knowledge to operate. That is the biggest difference between the two.

Windows is much more customizable and the os allows you to write programs and run them on your computer. Macs are designed to cut out the abilty to program and just leave a machine that is viable for a consumer

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • Awsome vid

  • Sediment vid

  • did he just say Aluminium as "ALLYMIN-YUM"?...

  • Hey.

I did, because that is how it is said in British English. Despite what most Americans believe, their language isnt the original english, its a form that got modified from the 1600s, hence things like instead of a closet, we have wardrobes and instead of fall, we call it autumn. (I, as a Brit, speak British English and pronounce things as such).

    Chris. :)

  • @chrismacguy yay a real english speaker. :)

i hate american english. i prefer "my" normal english. lolz.

a loom in um. its ment to be said al you min ee um. lolz.

btw love your videos and your many macs. lol

  • wtf is normal english?and wtf is american english is the "normal version"

  • Normal English is British talking, if you look at the letters in English, you can see Eng. England. America just used England's language but they pronounce everything differently. To us, American English is "Normal" to us because we talk like that.

  • @TheLuckAndLove tecknicly the origins of america is from england so yeah basicly we are the same.just talk diffrently well not all americans like the ones that come from diffrent areas of europe such as myself

  • I am Canadian I talk normal english like american, Canada and U.S are the same english, I would go for British English (100%Normal English) I like the way they talk in England, U.K. and London, United Kingdom

  • @chrismacguy I know that British English and American English are different because there were 3 British students at my school and they were having trouble understanding American English. That's fine and having differences and different languages and dialects is what makes the world beautiful. Just a thought haha.

  • @chrismacguy oh... i did not know that :P

  • nice review

  • That is a Mac - you may not understand since you obviously dont have a brain, that is an external monitor connected to a Apple PowerMac G4. I dont need to use Windows, I can get by without having to go down to your level, you incontinent prick. Oh, and Ive blocked you. I dont need hate.

  • @chrismacguy Haha, you tell him Chris!

    Jake

  • @chrismacguy lol... that was pretty gay

  • i have that one, its really nice =]

  • Lol I wouldn't be complaining about only 2 USBs, the one I'm getting soon has no firewire, and 2 USBs. Same model also, just newer.

  • thats da old one

  • Good review but have you ever watched Inbetweeners because you remind me SOOOOOOOOOOO much of Will from there. hahaha made me laugh.

  • Being from a relatively nice neighbourhood does not make me like Will. I actually 1) have friends and 2) do not carry a briefcase, go to a state school and am a Mac, not a PC - which is just about every difference under the sun >D

    Chris.

  • american yankee : /

  • @IllianaDali

    true dat

  • Nice table.

  • You remind me of will from the inbetweeners. But anyway good review i hope to buy one of these soon.

  • nerd

  • Your just jealous he is smarter then you bitch >:)

  • Can windows be ran on this MacBook? Sorry, I'm currently a PC who is thinking about switching to Mac, but has no clue about it.

  • Yes. I have Windows Vista as a dual-boot option using Boot Camp. You can also choose to use Parallels or VMWare Fusion to enable Windows to run on any Intel Mac. (Any MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro or any iMac or Mac Mini bought since early 07 is guaranteed to be capable).

    Hope that helps :D

    Chris

  • if your going for mac get there laptops because there alot better then pc laptops, but if you want a pc i recomend a windows computer.

  • Why even get a mac, if you are just going to use Windows on it?

  • I never use windows on my mac :P

  • @Mafioso518 Yes you can run them at the same time

    Search for Boot Camp

  • parallels are better

  • thanks, that helped.

  • thnx, that helped coz i want a pple nd that really maade me think about it more... I WANT ONEE!!

  • same laptop, better then the unibody because more ports (firewire) and a removable battery / ram . and i got it in december for 800$ because it was the model one, and it was the last, but i had 2 macs, and my brother had 4.. so i dont need any boxes :P.. mac 09/may FTW

  • did you ever have any problems with it? like did it ever brake?

  • Hey,

No, not yet (over 1 year old and rocking it). I cant say Ive had a single problem that hasnt been my fault, its even dealt with being given a minor soaking :)

    Chris

  • do you still use your macbook? is it still good? battery works fine? im thinking about buying it, but i dont know how is it after year or earlier. you get it. Thanks ;)

  • Yeah - its still my main computer and I LOVE it. I still get 5-6hrs battery life off the original battery. It still performs really well :)

Id buy it again in a heartbeat - heck my 5 year old PowerBook G4 still gets 3hrs off the original battery!

  • apple have such small profit margins, any amount cheaper than the apple price is probably suspect.

unless its like $15 diff. lol

  • actually apple has huge profit margins, its just that the price they sell them to resellers at is very very close (they dont really do bulk discounts - the largest discounts ive managed to find are 3-4% max)

  • Does it include photshop software?

  • I bought the white macbook three weeks ago, This macbook is the real thing, The snow leopard os x is just easy amazing software, it has very fast cpu response, boot up is very quick, useful apps are pre-installed, the sound is clear, bluetooth devices connect, airport is working well, infra-red devices connect, battery life on streaming youtube 3+ hours, screen is a gem, webcam takes amazing movie & still shots, desktop mail connect fine,

  • Hey. I've not understood some things about apple, I hope you help me :) I want to ask: What is Mac OS X Snow Leopard?software? In an apple store, they told me that this is the best, and the niewest...but they told me for Macbook white 2.26GHZ. What should I do? Buy the macbook white and not macbook pro and install Mac OS Snow Leopard or buy Macbook pro?

  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard is included on all new Macs, including the White MacBook. Id say go for the pro as it has more features, but they all ship with OS X 10.6

  • aha...ok sorry I did not know it, thanks :) I think I'll buy pro due to the features..The problem is that the white mackook costs 958€ and the Macbook pro 1271€ :P :S

  • @frossinaki

Why are the products so expensive in Europe?

  • I don't know my friend... In America 1$ is 0,696€... That's why many people, travel to America and there, they buy gadgets. clothes etc

  • i got a macbook for christmas and i hope never to switch back to windows because its portable, easy to use, and a great computer overall. thanks for the video though! when i was researching, this explained a lot to me! :)

  • HAHA, ITS WILL FROM INBETWEENERS.. very good review anyway mate, atleast i can understand you very clearly unlike some of the americans

  • i got a macbook to

    its realy nice

  • i got this same 1 for christmas and im typing this with the white mac book

  • nice!!!

  • nerd

  • Ive been researching these macbooks. I have been using windows for my whole life, and i am so exreamly sick of them! I reeealy want a macbook. Right now I have a compaq. It constantly overheats, and i have massive viruses :|. I only got it last christmas :( , so much for good quality. Im just torm between the white macbook and the alluminum macbook pro. Which do you think is more durable and better in quality(battery life, programing, ect..?)

  • Right, well as regards to the internals of the machines, they are very, very similar. The key difference between the current white MacBook and 13" MacBook Pro is the presence of a FireWire 800 port and SD card slot on the Pro, oh and the case design. The software quality is identical for both (very high), since they both run Mac OS X, as is, I believe the battery. Same goes for hardware. I however would pick the 13" Pro because it looks a lil better and you get 'Pro' bragging rights

    Chris

  • @parismaree95 Yeah, me too. When I was a young child in the late mid 90's we used to use the old mac computers, those were the first computer program i learned on. I missed it. Then, afterwards I have been using windows since ive been about 15, now im 25, I've been using windows for the past 10 years, I like it, but... After playing on one of these mac books, im just like overwhelmed. Mac book is like a complete 180 degrees, its just flat-out AMAZING. Im going to switch when I can afford it

  • Hey

Actually, I cannot think of a single laptop made since around 2000 that only has 1 USB. Every other 13" and 15" Laptop I come across has 3/4 at least. Eg my fathers DELL something - 13" display, like the MacBook, 4 USBs, without the docking station (I wish Apple would build 4 in, like everybody else)

    Chris

  • does all macs have garageband?

  • every mac sold by Apple does, and every single Mac theyve produced since around 2004/2005 includes a copy of garageband - so yeah, pretty much all modern macs do

  • ok tthnx

  • ok video

  • that was a really good review, thanks for your help!

also, would you be able to recomend any good places to buy pink skins or shells for the outside and inside and keyboard?

    thanks!

    ps LOVE your accent!

  • so i can play gta IV on mac ?

  • can i play GTA 5 in it ?

  • ya im pretty sure u can play gta 4 on it cuz it has a good enough graphics card but you are gonna have to install windows on ur mac

  • windows? why ?

  • nice rew, man

  • Supa cool. I like it. Apple is giving offers for University students in India. Here goes the toll free number 18004254646. see for yourself

  • I can only afford the 13" one but im worried i might find the screen too small.

  • Hey,

I doubt you will, I find the 13" screen fine for most tasks, including web design and photoshop. (I am a power user). It has roughly the same amount of screen space that the 15"ers had a few years back :)

    Chris.

  • got one of these today for 800 euros :)

  • I love how you have your iMac in the background

  • don't take this the wrong way. but are you a geek or something?

  • yep, and DAMN PROUD of it xD

  • Doesn't it have usb ports on both sides? Just been wondering. (i don't own a mac/macbook... yet.)

  • No, both USB ports are on the left-hand side of the MacBook. The only thing on the right side is the Optical Drive.

    Chris.

  • Cool review. I have an Acer, and have been thinking about getting a MacBook.

  • should i get one???

  • YES

  • well i am then

    one of the new ones.

  • Comment removed

  • I have used windows since i was 11 thats over 10 years and ive hated it! I hated apple, I called it CRAPINTOSH! Only cuz i had never used one. When I got my first Mac(powerbook g4) I knew it was for ME! It just worked without a problem! I have never had a bad mac experience! NO crashing, NO virus! Saying Mac cost more is like saying BMW cost more! There is more money and time put into making them run better and look nicer. There ARE $1000+ PCs now THAT is overpriced for what you are getting!

  • I have the later 08 BlackMacBook 2.4/Penryn and it has preformed amazingly! There is alot of "famboyism" on both sides. Neither side is BETTER only different. IF you want a computer that just works and has many various uses(even playing games) without worrying about viruses then a mac is for you. IF you want a computer for Word&Exel or gaming mostly and like getting viruses then PC might be better. Yes PC play games better but macs DO play them they do ALOT more 2 gaming isnt their main focus.

  • Use a USB Hub

  • MacBooks look awesome. I've never had one. I do like multimedia stuff like making videos, graphics, etc.. Should I get it? Is it much better than a PC?

    Thanks!

  • Hey,

If you are into graphics, videos, audio etc, I recommend a Mac - Its what the majority of professionals use in those industries, and comes with the iLife suite, which is an excellent addition and gives you basic movie-making and music-making abilities right out of the box :D

Those were the main reasons I switched (video editing and audio editing are my main hobbies :D)

    Chris.

  • APPLE FAG! jk, just PC [Windows] owns the better part of
