  • Mustaine just uses his Kahler as a straight bridge because it tunes way easier than a Floyd and changing strings is easier than on the older floyds. As a fixed bridge the Kahler is the better option for somebody who doesn't go in for any dive bombing.

  • The Washburn Wonder bar was another good tremolo. It worked with torsion technology and the same unit could be used on a left or right handed guitar with no modifications. It's was one of the best trems ever made.

  • I'm assuming it wouldn't make a difference since my old Kahler Steeler is just like a Floyd....

  • Got an old Kahler spyder and a original Floyd they are basically the same and nice right now music

  • I've given up on floating trems after 20 years of fighting them. I even tried the tremol-no.

  • there's one mechanism that might help Kahler to stay in tune... HIPSHOT TREMSETTER... it also works with floyd rose...

  • 1:06, fire truck siren...

  • you are awesome for this!

  • dimebag darrell used floyd rose!!!!!!!!

  • I've had both and given the I'll take the Kahler any day over the Floyd for two reasons:

    -The Kahler profile is lower.

-When you change the strings in the Floyd, you'll find new words coming out of your mouth in the presence of others! The Kahler doesn't do that.

Also the Kahler has a little more mass on board which is good for sustain but maybe not enough to detect any difference.

    Otherwise they are functionally equal.

  • I have an old Kahler Flyer on my 1983 Aria Pro II (The Guitar is older than me haha) It's a great tremolo, I also have a Floyd on my Fernandes Revolver pro, I prefer the Kahler cause it is less of a Ballache to restring ;)

  • I PREFER KAHLER ROSE!

  • Love your videos but this intro music is killing me!

  • How can i find out which Kahler i have? its from the 80's

  • Can the kahler Flutter?

  • @momay69 Can the Kahler flutter.... YES.

  • I have a lot of Floyd type bridges, the great ones are the Original floyd, schaller floyd, lo pro edge, edge pro and the original edge. All others like edge 3, trs 2, floyd rose special suck dick. lol

I'd like to try the kahler next time.

  • for me.. if for good looking..Floyd Rose is better for shape like ESP, Ibanez, Fender or all strats and Teles... Kahler is better for hollow body, ESPECIALLY for Les Paul body!..but for the sound, spring/ inner system.. both are great.. its up to you guys to make a choice for ur guitar... remember..BOTH ARE GREAT TREMOLO!

  • a kahler looks like an ash tray

  • Kahlers look ugly as fuck and suck, FLOYDS OWN!!!!

  • I have a kahler on my guitar and have tried my friends floyd rose, i and prefer floyd rose over kahler.

  • Just some insight... A Kahler was made better when they used a Floyd Rose locking nut... Just saying :)

  • Thanks for making this video! Love how you made it, make it looks like some..TV show xD I'm a BIG FR fan myself, but I'm interested in Kahler as well (fixed)

  • Kahlers are so smooth and lovely to play, the dive bombs will melt your face off... floyd roses suck

  • Will the real Floyd rose please stand up!

  • Where the hell can you buy kahlers because I wanna put one on my Jackson :3

  • I'm pretty sure people only watch these videos for that fucking music.

  • the music in the backround is annoying

  • It's a difficult task, considering there are so many versions of the Floyd Rose, some amazing and some absolutely terrible.. I'm a big fan of the old Ibanez Lo Pro Edge and the Schaller Floyd. There are a lot of horrible ones out there, namely the cheap import copies and one of my least favorite, the Jackson JT-6. Unfortunately the troubles experienced by Kahler is one big reason why their trems aren't as widely available. Kahler also made a Floyd Rose as well. Thanks for the video.

  • I have a question for you guys: When I got my first Floyd Rose guitar at eBay it was pretty much downtuned, so I left it at the guitar shop to change the string gauge and the tuning. About a month later, I broke a string while doing a pull-up. After I put the new string on, I noticed that when I was doing a dive-bomb, the string was actually under tension. It wasn't as loose or I didn't have that "spaghetti string" effect, that other strings had. What did I do wrong?

  • Holy God that intro was 90's as hell.

  • like the review i personally play with floyd rose but gotta admit the kahler sound real nice but id like to hear a comparison with the same pick ups cause i think the kahler sounds nicer on hear but i have 2 guitars with floyd roses one with emgs one with duncans and personally think the emgs sounds much better and think u hear it in this video

  • Hanneman uses Kahler!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude. YOUR THEME MUSIC

  • I bought a bc rich wartribe last week!!!!!

  • Is intonation on a Kahler just as much of a bitch as it is for a Floyd Rose?

  • kahlers destroy floyds every day.

  • @hunchedproductions Admit they paid or forced you to say that. :D

  • @CrossHolder92 It's actually a personal opinion, I've never talked to a Kahler Rep.

  • @hunchedproductions No floating trem will ever be perfect. They both have pros and cons. But, yes, the Kahler appears to have a better design.

  • Holy, This guy sucks... :)

  • is it worth it to pay more for the kahler 2300 series?

  • @jessehenandez no, get the original shaller floyd

  • @Softairguy im trying to replace my existing x-trem kahler so a new floyd is obviously not an option

  • FLOYD ROSE OWNS

  • personaly perfer kahlers, less to maintain, more tone

  • I still rate the ibanez bridges...especially the zr3! king of kings that bridge be...

  • Kahler makes pretty damn decent 8, 9 and 10 string trems though. just sayin.

  • I''ve recently aqquired a Kahler'ed guitar a 7200 hybrid model, it isnt as stable as my Ibanez EDGE or ofr'sbut its also not a double locking bridge! and the abillity to do unison bends is nice. I have so far not experienced any tuning issues when bending I dont solder the ball ends, but apparently its a good idea to solder a little further than the ball ends too so the solder goes all the way onto the cam.

I've found rotosounds work really well with kahlers and Floyds.

  • and that's why some guy from MN won the international Kahler wammy bar contest in Guitar Player magazine. (he used a Floyd Rose which IS actually better-this proves it. ps--Slayer can kiss my metal ass.)

  • LOL! I'm laughing at the 2nd guitar whammy stuff 'cuz its so over the top! Great stuff! I put a Kahler on my '78 Les Paul Custom in the mid 80s and it KILLED my sustain, unfortunately. BUT... I commend the Kahler for giving me the ability to have s trem on a Les Paul. It didn't dive bomb as low as my Floyd Rose I had on my Ibanez RG770 a couple years later.

    GREAT video!

  • He has a Floyd Locking nut with his Kahler. FWIW-I was picked by Steve Vai as winner of a wammy bar contest in Guitar Player magazine. I know just about everything there is to know about Floyds and Kahlers and which one is actually better...

  • The Kahler will never stay in tune on stage the way a Floyd does. This is because of the design of the locking nut being behind the regular nut. As far as sound--the sustain is killed on a Kahler with the design of the string going over a roller. Do a harmonic wammy on a Kahler and it'll die wayyy before the same harmonic wammy on a Floyd. Just my .02--but what do I know. He heh heh....

  • @drydog1000 Hah thats why slayer performs on stages for 2 hours with no problems right?

  • @drydog1000 Hey man, I refuse to use locking nuts at all. I have NO ISSUES staying in tune. Locking tuners with no more than 1/2 turn of string on the post, properly stretched strings and a good setup. That's all it takes. I have both Kahler and "Floyd" (Ibanez Edge actually) and no issues with either. Kahler = (in my crappy opinion) the better (smoother) feel. Again my crappy opinion. I can only be right for my taste

  • so what is the appeal with guitars with shitty paint jobs?

  • SPEED METAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey i have a shitty floyd rose licensed in my esp and i wanna know if i can swap it with a kahler tremolo like the kerry king model or something cause i cant play with it going out in tune in like fucking 30 minutes at the most please reply back thanks

    =

  • Floyd.

  • hey i heard that if you use a kahler you have to use thin strings and if you want to use thicker ones you have to change a few parts could someone tell me if its true or not

  • @mrfantasticification if you want to use thicker strings like 11's or above you have to change the springs in the back of the trem with stronger ones that can take the tension from the thicker strings...but you will also get a harder tremolo feel, thats the only thing you have to change, springs and nothing else

  • @dpapaioannow alright thanks man

  • @mrfantasticification strings thicker than .48 need the wider string hook and its probbaly a good idea to utilise the heavier springs for the cam too.

  • The music man!... that 80's intro music is the best!!!!

  • yuuuuuk i hate floyds with a passion so much hassle and maintence kahler ftw :D

  • this is like watching a boxing match. i wonder which trem is going to win?

  • that esp fuckin SCREAMSI love it! too bad I hate flying v's!

  • @JgHaverty you mean jackson, right?

  • sentonore.ru/browse/view/533.html

in stock.. original USA. from Kahler reserves, last one.

  • you sir are a total jackass.by comparing a 2000> bucks jackson with a kerry king watribe(700< bucks) it logical that that the quality will be different...

  • @TheDinosdinaras

    It's a fucking tremolo comparison.

  • @TheDinosdinaras kahler x(which the wartribe has)=licenced floyds

kahler hybrid=original floyds(which the jackson has) do u get it now?

  • It would have been much better if you had used a proper tuner to show pitch stability. Most of us can't identify perfect pitch by ear on a heavily distorted guitar playing power chords.

  • what r u useing for a box effect unit? ihate floyd rose scratch the body easy when changeing strings.2 posts drilled in the body big hole cut out for 3 longs springs compromising the sound and integrity of the body ive had both hmmm someone needs to make a better tremalo like kahler like rose no rollers possibly more sustain crows feet to hold the string

  • try testing the ibanez zr tremolo (ball bearing floyd rose). I think it's the best on the market

  • I play lots of thrash and Death metal on my jackson, and the more bands i listen to the more i notice floyd and double locking trems. Would it be hard to get used to playing an axe with a floyd?? I have only played fixed bridged guitars.

  • @TheSkunky81 Not really the only difference is you have to set up a certain tuning and changing the strings are different. The kahler has more depth you can get a guitar with either one. I have a dean from hell

  • I fucking hate that annoying tune...

It's allmost on every video this guy has... it's shame cause the review/comparison is pretty good!!!

  • i dont use dive bombs i do dimebombs

  • I have a rather important question. How do you raise the Action on a Floyd Rose trem? I have two guitars with them, but one is perfect, and the second, my new King V, it's too low.

  • @jfkdjfd To raise the action you need to loosen the mounting studs.

  • question: i have a floyd on my schecter, but if i were to buy a kahler bridge, would it fit into the same place the floyd did or would i have to have more of the wood taken out?

  • oh nooooo .... the creepy song again!!!!!!!!

  • I have a Kahler a BC RIch Wartribe made in China. If I were to lock the Tremolo in so that its a fixed Bridge. And then tune it to, say, drop B or C standard tuning. Then after a while tune it back to standard(What its set up to) Would I be screwing anything up?

  • @gonadz1234 no, just adjust the springs when you do.

  • the floyds take a bit more to care for but in my opinion they are the better

  • 0:32 did u just make that up or is that a song?

  • @dmohr7 it's just pure improv.

  • THUMBS UP FOR FLOYD!!!!!

  • dude, i ain't homo, but your accent is real wicked.

  • Of course the Jackson sounds better because it has PASSIVE SEYMOUR DUNCANS and not EMG. that and Floyd Rose Original trems PWN

  • thats good compare them with different songs/riffs

  • is it normal that my FR moves when i bend?

  • @valkiris ok thx :)

  • Yeah.

  • hey man i need some serious help and advice would love you forever if you did. Seriously dude im buying a frikkin KKV2 and it has a kahler i already have astandard tuning guitar and i want to drop tune the kahler but i dont have access to a guitar tech so im gonna have to do it my self. And help? and would it be as stable.

  • I have a serious question. I have a bc rich bronze series mockingbird, and I was wondering if you knew of some sort of tremolo bridge that can fit it. I really want a whammy bar, and I don't want a whole new guitar, because I am comfortable with this guitar.

  • stop making noise and actually play.

  • @stuffmuffins Stop being a douchebag and actually listen

  • @joniiboy no retard when you depress the bar all the way and just smack the strings its just noise

  • I'm unbiased as well, because as any guitar lover worth salt, owned both and several guitars, I even had the Washburn Wonderbar which feels like a HUGE Kahler and operates much the same. Kahler has a real fluid bend for vibrato. Whereas the Floyd Rose I encounter are Schaller variety and quite respectable in their own right, however, the bends are longer and more pronounced, So it depends if Slayer or EVH is your type of tremolo favoring, to put it in a nutshell

  • floyd rose of course i love the way it sounded like wooohooooo lol

  • the floyd is badass, i love it

  • Whart's a good lub or oiul to lub-up the Floyd on my Floyd? It's getting dry and the fine tuners are still? Help please. Thanx.

  • @jfkdjfd i saw a video were a guy said dw 40 would help

  • Kayler all the way,it just cuts out more wood from guitar and harder to install but a better system with proper pegs and nobs

and if ya know anything about EV its Kahler and Krammer!

  • @wwdhhhh Less wood is carved for Kahler surface mount tremolos, in fact. You must recall also 3 to 5 springs can be found on the reverse of FR guitars, to counter the string tension up front

  • should i put a floyd or kahler on my Gibson Les Paul? i know it will decrease the value but i love the kahler and floyd bridges

  • @CiviC092 Kahler is pre-built for Gibson and perhaps less in demand so more can be found used, in my experience. The Floating trem is available in single and double locking, where the bridge may or may not require ball cutting I recall, and the two mounting posts have only Pivoting contact, no ACTUAL rooted contact to the bridge, so it sits on them pressure wish with the springs on the back side, the Kahler advantage is mounting in a small cavity on the top only! Gary Kahler, I typoed earlier!

  • i would put the 2 together on the same guitar with one on the upper neck

  • Man your shredding is badass

  • Trust Floyd Rose. It's been famously used by Eddie Van Halen so you know its quality.

  • @race1717 Well, Ed and Floyd are actually pals, George Machine Gun Kahler, as Neal Moser puts it, is a very cool guy as well, and having both tremolos is better then having one or the other

  • I'm A Floyd Rose Guy, But I Want To Put A Tremolo On My Gibson Flying V!!! The Only Tremolo I Can Put On Without Having To Cut Through The Body Is A Kahler!!! I've Never Used A Kahler, So Would It Be Worth Putting On A Gibson Flying V???

  • @DylanBStringer91 Certainly

  • dude you got experience with that jackson

    good job

  • Just bought a DBZ Venom with the original floyd rose and mahogany neck/body, and its great, havent really tried a kahler yet :p but the i love the floyd :)

  • man dude calm down on the whammy, its not like this is a tremolo comparison video

  • And now the news by Kent Brockman.

  • @Jimlead ...Huey Lewis. I must comment on the idea of a Dive Bomb, as explained here, it is misleading, a DB is where you go DOWN with the bend so that all the strings go slack and typically as heard in Eruption, the sound dies because there's no more reverberation of the strings over the pickups!

  • @Jimlead whos he

  • @comedybenj The white hair guy from the news from 'The Simpsons'.

  • @Jimlead the simpsons is bollocks so is all cartoons

  • @Jimlead ahahahhahajajajajja

  • whats the cam???

  • Do you play in really low action

  • that dramatic backround music is terrible

  • If your strings break when you do pull ups that high, I would check the strings, they can be old or in a bad condition. But also watch your neck, they have a maximum and if you do stuff like that it can go very wrong.(sorry for bad english. hope you understand it).

  • @heavenpunch that was some sweet english man

  • I want to get a bc rich Kerry king wartribe and does anybody know if it's worth it or not

  • Holy crap, I would NEVER do pull ups that high. I'd be scared shitless to pul up more than a half or whole step. MAYBE a major or minor third on the low E. But JESUS!

  • How do your strings not break at 6:03?

  • nice video but the music is soooo annoying!

  • Someone make the perfect frigging hybrid already

  • can u do dime squeals with a kahler?

  • @MLMguitarguy probably, you would most likely need proper distortion though, and it works better with a floyd.

  • can i replace my simple tremolo to a floyd rose???? plss. reply shortly tnxx

  • @rpunk85 if it is a two fulcrum trem yes but you would have to get it routed for a floyd

  • Nice

  • It's worth noting that the Kahler he's using on the B.C. Rich is NOT equivalent to an original floyd rose. It is basically the same as a (good) licensed floyd rose, so yea it's pretty unfair to make that comparison without giving kahler an equal chance.

  • couldnt find a pair of pants for the video?

  • Does an ESP LTD MH-103 and MH-250 have an original Floyd rose bridge or a liscensed one? Please only answer if you know I am looking to buy one of these guitars.

  • Licensed.

  • Says on the website the 103 has a floyd rose special. The 250 has a licensed one i believe

  • a floyd rose special is esp licensed trem.....

  • Comment removed

  • @CodWawMontager i have a mh-250 for sale with a camo gator hardshell case. if u are still interested in the guitar message me or reply back. the guitar is mint kept it in a studio to record with here and there and was restrung and cleaned on a regular basis with all the other guitars. anyway im asking a good price for guitar case and shippin included.

  • i just bought an ibanez grg 250 and i has a floyd rose.. the problem is that i wanna drop b tune my guitar to play metal.. how do i drop tune it with this thing blocking the strings? and is it ok to take out the floyd rose?

  • @lucask822 if ur talking about the locking nut, then just get an Allan wrench and remove the locks, once you tune it down to Drop B lock the nut again, it may take a while to settle though so you might have to do that more than once

  • You will have to readjust the springs, after tuning it to make the bridge level again. You will probably want thicker strings too. Don't tune down just for the sake of sounding heavy.

  • I have, in my possession, a "patent applied for" early 80's Kahler tremolo system. I do believe I win.

  • oh god not that cheesey intro music again XD

  • Out of curiosity because ive only been playing for a year and almost a half but i want to put something on my guitar that would be good for dive bombs and dime squeels and which would be easier to install because floyd roses cut out a lot of the body.

  • Would probably be cheaper to get a whole new guitar unless you are gonna fit it yourself

  • 5:12 sounded awsome

  • gotta go with floyd just a more trusted name and double locking is so stable

  • what is the second guitar used in the vid the flying v model

  • @kyleshut

    its a Jackson King V

  • @kyleshut it's a jackson v guitar

  • Comment removed

  • i like the floyd rose, there so smooth and easy going.

  • I'm digging kahler equipped guitars. They play so much more bouncy and take less time to break in

  • DIME SQUEALS!!!!!!!!!!

  • *Bows head*

  • dude you can shred but put some pants on

  • floyd rose forever!!!

  • I just got an old Kahler tremolo in Chrome! Awesome!

  • I got an old kahler trem that came off a modded SG.

  • What would be a good floyd rose guitar to buy because i want to buy one?

  • @Dagamerguy Dean man, all the way!

  • yeah definently dean.

  • i got my floyd rose for 50 bucks new

  • dude you shouldve tried it befored you brought it, then make a conclusion thats what i did and if its shit after you get it, save up ad get an original floyd rose retail about $450AU ebay $300AU

  • warmoth has originals on their website for $200 (American currency).
