first of all goray are not happy of their color they try to be tanner, and i agree that people should be happy with their skin color but try to protect it.

I wish I could understand what they were saying because this topic is really interesting to me. This issue exists in the African American community as well but I think it's a little more subtle than it is in India. For example you would never see commercials about skin lightening cream. But lets say for example that a woman's boyfriend left her and dated someone who was more light skinned, you might hear her feelings about light skinned women come out.
