Karl Heinz Stockhausen on 9/11: "...the greatest work of art imaginable for the whole cosmos..." "Minds achieving something in an act that we couldn't even dream of in music, people rehearsing like mad for 10 years, preparing fanatically for a concert, and then dying, just imagine what happened there. You have people who are that focused on a performance and then 5,000 people are dispatched to the afterlife, in a single moment. I couldn't do that. By comparison, we composers are nothing..."
It's hard to get what they're trying to communicate from just watching the seemingly disjointed videos, but I've seen one of their shows live before and it was definitely one of the most amazing life-changing performance art pieces I've ever experienced. For the mystified, it's sort of a social commentary. This video doesn't really tell the story, but instead tries to capture some lovely film footage and give you at least a general idea of what was going on, much of it all at the same time.
i was overthere and it was so fantastic , i´m wondering , because not too much people were into it. thank you very , very much for this great posting...
pretty simple really... man makes the machines, the machines are a metaphor for our 'culture' building..... the machines then proceed to tear everything in their path a new arsehole by employing fire, projectiles and brute force....
Is that the sound of an australian Kookaburra in the background throughout?
