  • Shot my first deer with the exact same gun

  • Got to get my shit together and buy one of these before the wonderful government of Australia bans them because "why would anyone need a military rifle? They are only built to kill people!"

  • @MrMapex2010 I know what you mean, over here in Europe the situation isn't better. Maybe we'll have to move to the U.S.?

  • @UNPROFOR1994 Trust me I've considered it

  • @UNPROFOR1994 They're after ours too. Def don't move to New York or California they're the worst gun snatchers

  • @greenteen85 I'll keep that in mind ;-)

  • @MrMapex2010 Is it true you can't have semi-automatic rifles Down Under thanks to some nut in 1991 at some place called Port Arthur?

  • @greenteen85 Yeah a guy called Martin Bryant killed about 35 people in a decomissioned prison using semi-automatic firearms. Our PM decided to ban all semi-automatic longarms and pump action shotguns except for farmers and other special circumstances.

  • I have one of these. The recoil is a bit more than a full sized Enfield, but not excessively so. It is less than any of the US 30-06 main battle rifles. Well, not any worse I guess, less than the Springfield, about like the M1917 or

Garand. Mine shoots great, nice, tight groups at 100 yards, and no sign, not even a peep, of the so called "wandering zero" problem. Surplus ammo shoots fantastic, too.

  • @Slickdapj Yes you are right about the recoil, it is a great rilfe, I love the enfield action and bolt. Smooth and fast but not as strong as a Mauser action.

  • If you ever want to sell it contact my channel and ask for John Dent

  • An Australian experimental version of the No. 5 Mk I, designated Rifle, No. 6, Mk I was also developed, using an SMLE MK III* as a starting point (as opposed to the No. 4 Mk I used to develop the No. 5 Mk I). Australia never obtained tools for the No. 4 and had little alternative but to manufacture modified rifles on a SMLE MK III action. This they did with great efficiency. The No. 6 Mk I never entered full production and is very rare.

  • Very nice peice !

  • @pintofshite Thank you, it is a little banged up, most of the bluing is worn off. But it is an original. It looks like it has seen a lot of action.
