  • I love the original song by Billy Paul but the Dramatics do a great job.

  • First class post!

    Soul at it`s best :)

  • If you never had the chance to see these GREAT fella's live in their prime,

you got no idea what a tight, precise & soulful sound they had (have).

It was if, kinda' the sangin' never stopped, meaning everytime one fella stopped,

another continued in that fab 5 part harmony very few groups ever duplicated.

As close to, (or even closer after '71) to the Tempts in David Ruffin's prime or

    early '68 - 71' Dennis Edwards/The Dell's in the last 60's, that's how BAD-ASS

    these fella's are!

  • worthy of our incorporation!...QX!

  • love , love the Dramatics, went to a club in Hollywood in the 70"s to see them, it was great

  • I love the Dramatics! Dang they don't make music like that anymore. Holla!

  • I know it's Billie Paul's song but The Dramatics did there thing. Good job!!!!!

  • The Dramatics versions put Billy Paul to shame. Very Soulful Versions, and Ron Banks was so fine.

  • Wow. Gotta appreciate this classic soul stuff. I'm so glad I discovered The Dramatics. A gem for sure!

  • Well done:}

  • Is this the same episode the Smith Connection was on? Sad to say but the family never got a chance to see it aired. Would be nice to see if you have it. Thanks. Love the Matics too. Thanks for posting.

  • Willie Ford, the bass singer is my cousin. But we have never met :(

  • love it

  • Damn, that L J Reynolds got a voice on him, he can blow.

  • A dose of the Dramatics can always turn a good day into a great day. One of my favorites

  • my mom is so sad that Ron Banks died.

she loves him n the dramatics. R.I.P

  • @blink182grl8 tell your mom a lot of people are sad about this one. I grew up with the Banks family. I lived across the street from Ron when he and the Dramatics released their first smash, "What you see is what you get" I have to tell that as awesome a singer that Ronnie Banks was he was an even better person...believe that!!!!

  • @gnsky77 My dad taught school with mr banks @ edgar Guest on meyers and fenkell. They were good friends.. Mr Banks introduced us to Ron and I rean into him overseas when i was in the army.. great guy got me and my buddies some great seats to there show..

  • @mstrgnrA8 I used to live across the street from the Banks family-Ron was one incredible person...I always admired his humbleness he never thought he was too much of star that he did not respect his fans and friends-Mr. and Mrs Banks were like our extended parents...they cared about us and always gave me good advice-I will never forget them-It was a blessing that I was able to attend the services and hang out with them afterwards-I came all the way from Cali would not have missed it...

  • brilliant *****

  • you know what I love about this music .. the background music....put this song on and listen to the beats of this music and just drink a nice glass of wine and let your mind just relax with the beats... I love these guys a one of a kind talent real talent all these guys can sing. Thanks for the post

  • This version is cool, however Billy Paul passionate yelling brings out the true emotion in the original version. The guy with the high pitched voice has truly an amazing octive... Wish I could hit that tone =(

  • I know L.J.Reynolds thats my older brother and sister's daddy :]

  • @crystalle101 . Where is he these days and what is he doing now? Still singing?

  • I agreed with you that Billy Paul recorded the song first and I do like the Dramatic version just as well.

This is what I call good music

  • coach...u from cincy too..?

  • I am! Proud Cincinnatian!

  • Sorry Billy, but u had some competition on this number LOL. LJ Reynolds never let ya down, he's worth the wait. check out Ron. luv these guys. thanks for posting

  • FABULOUS !!!

It sounds they were singing for real? Was it a dream? And the version is different from the one on the "Jukebox" LP.

  • man everytime ihear these boys man pure talentfor ever the youngins got to step there game up they got big shoes to fill those 70s are killin 80s 90s 2000s bad boys

  • I saw these guys at The Berkeley Community Theatre back in the 70's when I was still in elementary school. Part of their band had been stuck out of state so all they had was a piano, bass, and drums. Didn't matter. The vocal chops these cats displayed more than made up for the missing instruments. They sang as good on stage as they did in the studio. And of course this was before all the technical wizardry which so many entertainers embrace i.e., prerecorded vocals, etc. Talent always wins out.

  • Are these guys still singing?Hennessy,a fine lady, and Dramatics in the background and its on.

  • ron banks is my father i love him

  • smooth cover of a classic

  • I believe Mr. Billy Paul was the first to record this song. I love the DRamatics version. I love the various voices taking lead.

  • I agreed with you. Good Music
