the movie ruined the silent hill franchise, with it's success konami is now trying to make the game more like the movie for casual gamers and fans of the movie. Akira leaving konami was the nail in the coffin. RIP Silent Hill

SH:5 wasn't based on the movie.. it had alot of things influenced by Jacob's Ladder but not the SH movie.

They had to sacrifice their children to stay safe in Shepherds Glen. In the movie it was all based on the first game.... um.. well it was a bit with some differences.

I don't know about you guys, but the Silent Hill franchise isn't about having direct sequels all the time. Hence why SH2, SH4 and SH5 are completely separate storylines and characters. However, that being said, I do agree that some of the basics concerning the purpose of the town should be kept true throughout all the titles (unlike SH5, which butchered a lot of this, as well as the SH movie...I still loved them though, don't get me wrong)

@OMGitsFay There was talk about it at E3, but nothing much was said. For all we know, it could be just teasing. One thing that is absolutely confirmed is "Silent Hill 8", and a second Silent Hill movie (which producer Gans says will tie up the knots that fans found wrong with the first game).

Let's see where that leads.

Sadly both Akira and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn will not be lending their talents to the new game, so I most likely won't be playing. Time to hang up the old steel pipe.

@MemoriesOfRiku It makes me curious as to why they would call it Silent Hill 8. It makes sense that it's overall the 8th game, but Origins was a prequel and Shattered Memories a remake of the first game, so why do they count?

Anyway don't really care about the Silent Hill movie. The first one was insulting, in that everything is explained at the end of the film.
