I love my G1! had mine for about four days already and I have to say it's great. Only problem for me would have to be that it is not the prettiest gadget around...and also the battery life. I go to school so I have it on standby for a long period time and only use the phone for about 8 hours a day- and the battery always has to be charged by the fifth or sixth hour of use...great phone but save up money to get a spare battery...PS- texting is great and this isn't a good choice for music lovers..

Maybe try turning off the GPS feature when not using it to save the battery?

The specs for the phone says up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 5 DAYS of standby time. However standby time means no data and no GPS usage which do use up the battery faster. I put mine on to charge each night and then use it all day without issues.
