Now thats passion for a game! Fantastic reviews and reflections on the concluding part to one of the best series of games ever made. I've nothing but brilliant memories of playing the Last Ninja games, and turning up the volume to listen to the incredible tunes accompanying the action and my life at the time. In the twilight years of the c64 this showed the consoles that it was still the boss. Todays gamers really need to play the trilogy and understand its influence on the giant games of now.
@kylereece1979 Indeed its great that you can get these games on wii virtual console. But they removed LN3 cause there was a bug that only let you played the first level.
OMG ..... I so freaking love C64 .. i started playing my first games on it and i still loooooove to play the The Last Ninja 1,2,3 on my C64 emulator..., especially the Intro movie of #3 where he climbs the castle and throws the shuriken is the guard his neck :P (i'm still impressed for the "graphics" of that game) and what i liked most is that u had to combine components to get other items.., lik in lvl1 the Nunchaks and Climb claws
thanks for that review. i also remember this game. i hated that jumping sequences :S and all that glitches where you get stuck and the enemy kick the crap out of you. ... but all in all a nice game. i guess in last ninja II you slowly get your health back :)
I've gta say m8, this has been a great watch! Love the C64 reviews, and also the history and stories you include. Even tho its all these years on the C64 was my first REAL computer experience since my dad first introduced me to the concept of computer games when I was... well JUST old enough. I'm now 22, so you could say I was late on the scene really. Even still... I miss the old C64 and the game atmospheres. These vids bring back the early years and they do slip by so fast. Take it easy dude!
Fabulous review - you really put me in a C64 mood. I'm gonna fire up the C64 emulator when I get home from work, and have a blast on my all time favourites.
About the Amiga version of the game - I believe it was the only Amiga version of a LN game done in-house by System 3. It's actually not bad at all.. except for the controls which are much worse than in the C64 version.
It has all new music (not as good as the C64 music but still great), bigger levels, more enemies, every level has a unique boss, it has a level missing in the C64 version and more puzzles.
The game is quite a bit harder than the C64 version as well. For instance, in the fire stage, the jumping there is a lot more difficult. You have to jump on all those little things floating in the lava, many times. And it's really pixel perfect, really annoying.
There are also more puzzles in the void level, including a crashed plane etc.
All in all a good version, but it has some serious glitches (if you collect items in the wrong order, they won't combine into an item you need).
In my opinion, Last Ninja 3 is the weakest in the series.
The reason for this is I find the controls a bit worse, the enemies dumber, invisible items but worst of all - the way the screens are connected makes very little sense. You can't map the levels because of this.
However, it was still a really awesome game... I enjoyed it a lot. And the intro and ending were really impressive back then.
ill be honest, the longest ur vids, the more entertaining they are! You are the perfect buddy id like to speak about old games for hours! 8D

Oh I forgot to mention -
In the Amiga version, if you leave a screen without defeating the enemy, you lose Bushido.
Even if the enemy is out of reach... which is really annoying.
Also - in the second part of the final boss fight in the Amiga version, Kunitoki turns into a robot! Pretty dumb! :D

Awesome! Finally a review of this game.
It's my least favourite LN game, but still a great game. Well, I'll shut up and watch it.

GOOD LORD! AN HOUR, 16 MINUTES, AND 14 SECONDS LONG? Awesome. Wonder if the DS will get the Last Ninja series.
