  • Republicans claim to be the party of industry and jobs, but when given the opportunity to pass legislation, they exclusively concentrate on racist, bigoted, and anti-women agendas. Jobs aren't even in the picture. At last nights final republican debate, the word "jobs" was only mentioned 10 times between the four candidates. They preferred to talk about banning birth control, building border fences and rounding up Mexicans, and sounding like rich, white, misogynist pigs. Wake up America.

  • I'll bankrupt Romney's face with my fists.

  • Mitt Romney: Bankrupt! :D

  • Yes, I do appreciate that Obama saved the Auto Industry.

The issue is that if Democrats remain in power, this will be the headline.....

    "America Bankrupt".

  • Time to bury this disease of TeaNazism.

    Vote them out.

  • And imagine if the government could keep shares in these companies and what those earnings would do to the deficit.

But oh Noos! The common people (in the form of government) have the chance to make an investment of a lifetime to bail out the banks and corporations but we don't get a piece of the pie.

  • Ha Ha Ha Ha.

  • NOBODY would buy a car , when the auto maker filed for bankrupt...NO BRAINER GOP!!!

  • This reminds me of how lucky we are to have Obama.

Can you imagine how bad it would be if these GOP clowns were in charge?

  • Ford never took a bailout. They downsized and made sacrifices. I wish that the media would get that straight.

  • Now GM just posted their biggest annual profit!

  • I don't understand this video. The video clearly says that GM wen't bankrupt and then went on to hire people and invest in plants. But then it has some problem with Romney saying they should go bankrupt. It also seems to say that them going bankrupt was a scary alternate history that the republicans would have caused. Detroit, or part of it, did go bankrupt.

  • @ncb1397 Semantics, without the loan they would have never recovered.

  • anyone supporting bail outs is a fucking retard that needs to learn economics. screw you corporatist bastards.

  • Those auto companies will go bankrupt again and they'll be back for another bailout, just wait! Now if we let them go bankrupt, their assets would have been sold off to the highest bidders and the new company would emerge bigger and stronger than ever. The new CEO's would know that if they screwed up, the government would NOT bail them out, so they wouldn't take enormous risks like the originals did.

  • @jjenson2006 They are all very much so profitable, how would they go bankrupt now? If we had let them go bankrupt, China would now own Detroit, there would no longer be any Fords, Chevys, Dodges, etc etc etc being made, and we'd have unemployment of about 20-25%. Please learn basic economics before speaking.

  • @zionpc1 "how would they go bankrupt now?" Chrysler has been bailed out before and it failed again.Learn history!

    "China would now own Detroit"

Maybe? Maybe not. There are plenty of American billionaires that would love to own those companies.

"we'd have unemployment of about 20-25%."

Bullshit! The workers would then get jobs at the MORE EFFICIENT companies.

"Please learn basic economics before speaking."

LOL You should learn REAL (Austrian) economics instead of government-nomics!

  • @jjenson2006 You really have no clue do you? You have no idea how many other companies and businesses rely on those plants being open and making cars. A single plant closing can turn a small city into a ghost town. It has been seen countless times. The 2,000 jobs lost at a plant turns into 10,000 jobs in the city as people leave.

You're obviously a republican, so I'll forgive you your ignorance.

  • @zionpc1 I have no idea? LOL The plant doesn't close permanently, it goes through bankruptcy and then it re-emerges as a STRONG, PROFITABLE company. There is no reason why a union floor sweeper should get paid $80k with full benefits. These companies need to seriously trim fat.

Obviously a republican? What a stupid thing to say. I'm libertarian, an individualist and I don't subscribe to the "two party" system that YOU obviously do....figures!

I suppose you're proud to be a socialist.

  • @zionpc1 watch?v=YqyDBHmnyfc

  • How many American jobs would Rmoney have killed to help him win in November? All of them? Probably.

No job is safe until these people are completely out of power.

  • has GM paid back it's loan ?

  • @yfastudio All the loans from the auto industry have been repaid in full plus interest.

  • @zionpc1 According to factcheck june of 2011:

"As for the auto bailout money, nearly 50 percent of the roughly $80 billion has been paid back."

So no, it hasn't been paid back.

  • @jjenson2006 You do realize that the loans were secured with stock/ownership in the companies right? Stock which is up, on average, 25% this year. Its up to the government to sell back those shares when they are ready.

  • Both Obama and Mitt wanted GM/Chrysler to restructure (Chapter 11). The difference is that Mitt did not want government funds to bailout GM/Chrysler and Obama did. So what Obama did was a big risk and it paid off for him. So he can run on this.

  • @redmustang03 In otherwords, Obama acted like a President, and Romney acted like a Republican. Notice the difference there?

  • @zionpc, if McCain would have taken over there would be no GM no Chrysler and Ford would have been struggling and we would have had a worse unemployment if he had taken over. Hey, let the free market take care of its self ha.

  • The truth is that they will do anything - wreck the economy, kill thousands of jobs, or bankrupt companies - if it suits their political agenda to defeat this President and make him "fail". Traitor is to mild a word for them; they are scum.

  • @local2458 yeah, lets just have the govt babysit us instead!

liberals don't understand the concept of capitalism. companies succeed but unfortunately come to an end when they can no longer compete with better companies or please consumers. oil prices are high, american cars are gas guzzlers, therefore people won't be buying them. the companies must meet the people's demands. yes, initially jobs will be lost. but a consumer need for an american car company will cause other companies to arise.

  • @local2458 and those companies will create jobs, and make better products. the only way to advance is to let companies with better ideas succeed and ones with obsolete/unneeded ones decide between bankruptcy or reform of the company to fit people's needs. we shouldn't be saving companies that repeatedly don't meet demands.

(btw i'm not standing up for republicans, i can agree most of them are corrupt scumbags. im defending capitalism. no govt intervention in private industries with taxpayer $)

  • OBAMA 2012

  • Dear GOP: F*ck you.

  • Perhaps hundreds of thousands of Whites can flood into Detroilette so we can achieve an ethnically DIVERSE and once again successful community?

Is Cultural Morality only for White children? Why aren’t “anti-racists” saying “Detroit needs more Whites?” Why is NO ONE saying “non-white neighborhoods need more diversity?” Because DIEversity is ONLY achieved once there are NO MORE WHITE CHILDREN. They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-white.

    Anti-racist is a code-word 4 anti-white

  • @TheGenseric

Well, I guess it's a sign of progress that you're not saying anti-Semitic things. Fun fact: The Irish were once considered to be non-white.

  • @battousai12345 No one is flooding Asia with millions of non-Asians and saying 'Well, I guess it's a sign of progress that you're not saying anti-Semitic things. '

No one is flooding Africa with millions of non-Africans and saying 'Well, I guess it's a sign of progress that you're not saying anti-Semitic things. '

No one is flooding Mexico with millions of non-Mexicans and saying 'Well, I guess it's a sign of progress that you're not saying anti-Semitic things. '

    Why genocide? Why whites?

  • Instead of being a slave to cold-war era political nonsense actually grow a brain.

  • @Wolfe2469 Its just about white genocide. As the whites decline and non-whites flood the country, it becomes third world. No mystery.

  • The American economy is fucked, the amusing thing is its all udner your own doing. Its no secret that Japan has undermined the American economy. Now Japan and China own trillions of dollars of American debt, debt that will never be payed off

  • Only a loyal republican/Fox news zombie will blame the union for every problem in life.

  • Whoever made this video doesn't understand capitalism. When corporations go bankrupt it's because they were making poor decisions. GM was cutting corners on quality and safety to turn profits while the Germans and Japanese were building strong followings with solid reputations. Had GM gone bankrupt, new, more efficient companies would have risen. Remember Saturn was gonna get sold to Penske but after the bailout was announced that whole plan was canceled.

  • This is SHIT communist propaganda. It's unAmerican. Shame on you supporting corporate control the the government! I will never buy a GM aka Communist Obama Motors pile of shit.

  • bailing out gm didnt help detroit, most of the g.m plants in michigan closed in the 90s,flint mi was hit alot aharder by it,this is why we need to bring are productiion jobs back home to the united states or what is happening to detroit will happen across the broad, stop reading this and e-mail your representative and tell them how you feel, infact tell as meny peeople as you can.

  • @williejenkins666

The problem is not the unions (obvious outsider idea from someone who does not know the history of politics especially in detroit), the problem is the city council wasting money while serving themselves and their friends. They cut jobs and gave themselves bonuses in the same week while complaining about being unable to make cuts except for the unions.

  • I've been to Detroit. They aren't ASKING ANY OF THE CONTRACT NON UNION employees for give backs. None of the mayors staff are willing to take any cuts either (cell phones, cars, free lunches). Blaming unions is the easy way out for someone addicted to Fox News and the GOP

  • Now Detroit needs a bailout because unions are destroying the town... it will go bankrupt very soon.

  • It was a union bailout. And the unions are still going to drag these companies down in the end. They can't afford the pensions.

  • Right! The GOP wanted to get rid of the unions and if that meant sending GM and Chrysler into extinction, well no problem for them. Same thing with all of these cowboy republican governers cancelling union contracts. Just trying to get rid of unions, period. None of them will get a second term. But niether did the nazis' though.

  • The auto industry would have been better off if they hadn't been bailed out. They would have gone through bankruptcy and then reformed and emerged a much more efficient, competitive company. This sort of bailout action and protectionism is what caused Great Britain in the early 1900's to fall from being the superpower of the world. You let the free market choose the winners and losers. The competition makes everyone better.

  • Obama's trying..

  • Comment removed

  • Besides, I must know: how could Romney say that when his father was President of AMC (who by the way reorganized AMC to make it better)? And Romney, ironically, got what he wanted: the Big Three were bailed out AND Obama gave them $80 billion (subject to them making them more efficient). Now the auto industry is clawing its way back and people kept their jobs. Obama is the most gutsy President ever! Keep the change going! OBAMA 2012!

  • Historically, Democrats have had a better economy than Republicans. Want to check? Google "Democratic vs. Republican job/economic growth".

  • @dpas2009 Funny how you don't remember the dot.com crash.

  • @emp0rizzle Actually, I DO remember the .com crash since I knew of three people that worked in the computer business, and two of them lost over 50% of their assets due to that. They have since recovered about 30% of that loss, but the situation has made that recovery frustratingly slow. The third actually did BETTER than before since he was in the area to help those struggling with their losses.

  • @dpas2009 But you don't seem to understand why it crashed, instead you chalk it up to whether it was a D in the house or a R in the house. You should start an career in economic analysis.

  • I say, let Detroit go bankrupt. They deserve it for being greedy bastards. Perhaps, in the next life, they will learn from their mistakes.

  • I don't see how republicans think there going to win those important midwest swing states if they maintain this attitude towards American manufacturing.

  • Republicans are so unpatriotic they whether see a AMERICAN car companies destroyed just because a liberal president bail them out. The big three is the only major manufacturing left in this country while the republicans play politics real people on main street suffers. And yet repubs are silent about Wall Street the people that help get this country into trouble. There was zero criticism from the republicans when President Bush gave money to the car companies.

  • Very effective emotion-based ad. Factually inaccurate. The truth is that the loans have NOT been repaid and the money that was given to the auto companies was taken from OTHER Americans who needed it. The democrats think the auto loans were a "zero sum" game. They don't understand economics.

  • @libertyforever76 Do you understand how important manufacturing is to a nation. Do you realize that it was the automotive industry that created the American middle class. You know what kind of devastation if the car companies was not bail out states like Michigan,Wisconsin,Ohio would have really suffered. Recovery would be impossible for this country if we would have lost all three car companies. The Car company bailout was just has important has the bank bail out.

  • Last I checked Detroit is Bankrupt.

  • @mikesadick You are right on target with your direct to the point post comment. OPPS i shouldn't have said the word "target" because liberals act all hyper mad at any kind of reference to "crosshairs".

  • @mikesadick Last I checked Detroit is filled with greedy bastards that only want profits, not caring about it's customers.

  • AND THE FACT THAT UNTIL NOW THEY STILL DONT HAVE A JOBS BILL THAT THEY PROMISED TO HAVE LAST YEAR'S ELECTION

I THOUGHT THE GOP AND THE TEA PARTY HEARD THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LOUD AND CLEAR???

THEN WHY UNTIL NOW THEY ALL CARE ABOUT ABOLISHING MEDICARE, GIVE TAX CUTS TO MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES AND OIL COMPANIES????

WHERE IS YOUR JOBS BILL, GOP??!!! IS THIS ANOTHER OF YOUR PROMISES THAT WILL ONLY TURN INTO STONE???!!!

  • bwahahahaha republicans are fcked up, no competent candidate, no sympathy for the middle class, willing to make the country bankrupt as long as their corporate masters get the most of the profits, they want to abolish medicare but retain tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and oil companies, they want to have spending cuts first before we spend rescue funds in the midwest

i cant think of any reason why anyone would vote for a republican, unless they are dumb and stupid and UNamerican

  • I can't wait for the dollar crisis to occur, then all this bullshit from the left and right becomes irrelevant. Can't fucking wait

  • when businesses do bad they should disappear or we just keep getting overpriced junk.

  • I'm happy for the people who work for GM but no one cares about the jobs that were lost because they had to pay for this bailout? Americans need to wake up and see that our real unemployment rate is at Depression levels.

  • The President did more than loan them money. He stole money from those who have loaned them money (bond holders) and GAVE it to his political supporters (UAW). I will never buy another GM or Chrysler car. They exist ONLY because the President used them to launder money for the UAW. It was NEVER just a loan.

  • @CommonSenseJoe well GM AND Chrysler paid the government back with interest. isnt that what you call profit?! lol get lost, loser.

  • @gleefanatic2011 When the government FORCED bond holders to take pennies on the dollar and gives a large percentage of the company to UAW for nothing, THAT IS NOT A PROFIT! It is legalized extortion. I wonder how FORD who did not take a dime from the President survived and thrived. Don't look to close into how they "paid" back the government, you might just find out that they simply transferred the debt from one program to another. The loser is the American people. who did not vote socialist

  • Cities that are run by liberals tend to end up in the toilet.

  • @computerpurple The ad is not about that you fucking IDIOT!

  • @IdiotsRevolution Awe boo-hoo truth hurts.

  • @computerpurple The only truth is that you republicans love being wrong.

You're side was wrong about the automotive bailouts.

And you're wrong about liberal cities there are liberal states and cities that's doing very well try again asshole.

  • @IdiotsRevolution Government Motors yep that's what it is now.

  • @computerpurple Wow great come back.

  • @IdiotsRevolution I agree , Oh by the way Detroit is in the toilet.

  • @computerpurple Thanks to the greedy republicans.

  • @IdiotsRevolution HA , HA , HA you are so wrong. It's liberals that have and continue to run Detroit... into the toilet.

  • @computerpurple facts are hard to swallow apparently.

  • @computerpurple unlike the conservative republicans who shop at Wal-Mart and are running Wall Street into the ground.

  • @dvsuton2 Hello just wanted to say i like Wal-Mart (although not on black Friday) , as for Wall Street i think the overkill of regulation on them are not helping. It is Obama that is 2 face when it comes to Wall Street , he LOVES their money and has good buddies (Ben Bernake , Timothy Geithner) from that world yet he SHITS on Wall Street by way of piling on a overkill of regulations.

  • Do they understand filing bankruptcy does not necessarily mean closing the door?

  • The only reason they were able to pay off the loan from the government is because they took out more loans from various other companies. So Chrysler isn’t quite out of the hole just yet.

  • @cworth1569 They needed a lifeline

  • @cworth1569 And yet you probably had no problem with the bank bailouts and guess what the banks is not paying shit back.

  • so use taxpayer money to bail out corporations? IS that what they are advocating for? seriously?

  • @sharinganclan213 Only in the way that it's a bailout when I take out a car loan, they paid the money back

  • @override367 Only if you are getting a car loan from the government. Banks don't force you to pay it so that it can make loans. You have the option of not banking with the bank. Also, you can get your money back out of the bank.

When the government bails out bad companies, it is effectively rewarding bad behavior. Companies - no matter how big - are supposed to be able to fail so that they can be replaced by better ones.

  • And the GOP experts on FOX said we wouldnt see a cent back!

  • OH SNAP!!!!!

  • Americans succeed, Republicans weep.

    I wonder why that is?

  • America to the GOP: SHUT THE FUCK UP!! Thanks to the foresight and leadership of a "real" president American can still make automobiles for itself and the rest of the world. It's so funny how all these right-wing fucktards are tossing anything against the wall and grasping at any straw to deny this President any success. From this to Bin Laden being killed these far-right fuckers are nothing but sour lemons filled with bigotry and hate who'd rather America fail than the President succeed.

  • @bigtexansfan Wow you curse to make your point heard. You are what is sick about America!!!

Please tell me you don't live in Texas!!!

  • @Rockioe - I am from Texas, and I just get pissed off at the hypocritical right-wing asshats. I'd say THEY are what's "sick" about America more than my swearing. Excuse me if I offended.

  • @bigtexansfan Thanks for apologizing for cursing to make your point!!!

I believe in the American Free Enterprise system...

It allows business be business, let religion be religion. We don't need government meddling in either. If a company fails so be it. If a religion fails so be it!

  • There was a lot more to the Chrysler bailout than the 7.5 billion.

    Old Carco LLC 4.0 billion

    DIP financing 1.9 billion

    Chrysler Financial 1.5 billion

Chrysler Auto Supplier bailouts another 1.5 billion

and don't forget the GM/Chrysler auto warranties 1.25 billion and "cash for clunkers"

Can any of you geniuses tell me how much of those were paid back?

    Welcome to corporate welfare

  • That's funny, because Democrats are in charge of Detroit, and the city IS BANKRUPT!

  • They DID go bankrupt! GM took a loan from the government, a loan that was supposed to prevent bankruptcy, and it still went bankrupt. Chrysler accepted a government-run merger with Fiat, and they still had to go through bankruptcy proceedings. Ford, meanwhile, did not take one dollar from the government, and did NOT go bankrupt. Romney was right. If GM and Chrysler had been allowed to go through bankruptcy proceedings from the beginning, then they'd have recovered much, much earlier.

  • @PaperbackWizard If you think that any of the companies could have survived bankruptcy at a time when even commercial paper was in jeopardy I think you need to take a macroeconomics course or two

  • @override367 @override367 Read it and weep, professor. Less than three months after the government both bailed out and installed their own CEO at GM, the company went through the fourth-largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the country's history. The bailout didn't stop Detroit from going bankrupt; it just put taxpayers on the hitch at a time when unemployment was already on the rise.

    En wikipedia org / wiki / General_Motors_bankruptcy

  • @PaperbackWizard less than 3 months after

    A F T E R

My god, you people lack basic reading comprehension skills. At the time of the auto bailout, a bankruptcy was impossible, there was no credit available and they had no resources of their own to speak of to make it happen. The bailout made the bankruptcies possible

  • @override367 Made the bankruptcy possible? Are you listening to yourself? Do you honestly think that if GM had gone through bankruptcy a few months earlier than it did that it would have never recovered, or at best taken longer to recover than it has? Worse, do you actually believe that was the goal of the bailout? The goal of the bailout was to prevent a bankruptcy; it failed, just as Romney predicted it would. That money would have been better spent on transition assistance for the workers.

  • @PaperbackWizard Do you know how bankruptcy works for major corporations?

You need substantial financial backing to pull it off in an orderly fashion. It was not the goal of the loan but without it, bankruptcy would likely involved one or more of the big three ceasing to exist as they were sold off for a fraction of their value. They had time to structure their debt and avoid a fire sale, and hey look we got our money back. Many jobs saved, GM still here, money paid back. What's the problem?

  • Sure, they're paying back the debt now, but they'd have never had to pay it back at all if they'd simply struck out on their own. The argument can be made that since they had to repay that money to the government AFTER they went through bankruptcy, they took even longer to recover than they would have if they'd simply started proceedings without taking any money first. Bailouts didn't stop bankruptcy; they just took money from taxpayers at a time when we needed it most.

  • @PaperbackWizard The only thing romney and the republicans wanted out of the bankruptcy was to get rid of the UAW. They dont give a crap about GM or Chrysler. They just want to see every union member making wal-mart wages.

  • Michigan, please recall Rick Snyder. He's taken away your voting rights.

  • Brilliant piece. The GOP is fundamentally hostile to the domestic auto industry: predominantly, it employs workers in blue states; and predominantly, it employs union workers receiving working wages - both run counter to the GOP goal of effectively converting the USA into a right-to-work banana republic.

  • @pacificnorthwestmark Good insight! Of course, people who blindly vote their bias or prejudice or simply their ignorance of the nation they live in, they won't agree. But really, when it comes down to it, Republicans are people who want to go back to serfdom and a super privileged class of the few, financed upon the tax-free profits of large corporations, banks, oil, pharma, insurance, others, all trying to escape any human responsibility whatsoever, all in the name of profit for the few.

  • Brilliant piece. The GOP is fundamentally hostile to the domestic auto industry: predominantly, it employs workers in blue states; and predominantly, it employs union workers receiving working wages - both run counter to the GOP goal of effectively converting the USA into a right-to-work banana republic.

  • "Where does this stop? What if my friend is having trouble with his business should he get a loan?"

As long as his business can reasonably be shown to be made solvent... yes, yes he should.

  • who let the dogs out? -- mittromneyisatool (dot com)

  • When the federal dollars run out, GM is gonna go out of business, or at least lay off thousands. You watch.

  • @2012Romney ok Romney

  • I'm from Michigan and at the time I was saying the Republicans words will be used against them and they should be careful at opposing the President. I guess it is too late and rightfully so they are learning their lesson.. the HARD WAY.

    Obama-Biden '12

  • @swaves1952 That's exactly right.

  • GOP didn't support because Unions are a big part of the Auto industry. No unions in banks etc.

  • Pawlenty already left his State Pennyless.

  • Smoke and mirrors. If TARP has been paid back why does the US government still own 6.6% of Chrysler? Fiat's ownership went from 30 to 46%. Chrysler is less than ½ the size of it's former self and the only thing that is keeping them on life support is refinancing their debt (with the help of one of their TARP buddies at Goldman Sachs) and sales of even more gas guzzling SUVs.

  • This is only one of the many reasons these particular Republicans are unfit for the office of president.

One would think traditional Republican voters would wise up after years of abuse. But it never happens. Republican voters believe in freedumb.

  • I want a President that stands with Americans not with corporations.

  • such crap, they got a loan of my tax money with 0% interest, made money with it and gave the money to the FED who will loan it to me at 20% brilliant

  • The private sector collapsed. It's that simple. Why these people still think government should stand aside and let millions starve because the private sector failed is rather alarming.

  • The Republicans said save Wall Street but let Detroit go under. They should be ashamed of themselves---it was Wall Street that wrecked the economy in the first place then made out like bandits from Bush's bailouts.

  • @eatmorenachos

Disaster capitalism. Imagine how many more workers would have lost their job if we would have followed Pawlenty's lead.

  • Crony capitalism FTW

They paid for Obama's candidacy and thus he authorized the taxpayers to bail them out. What about other car companies, even green car companies, who got screwed in this deal? GM, the old lumbering loser gets propped up while progress and new technology are left behind.

Funny, no mention of how Ford made a comeback without the bailout.

I wonder how much of Ford's money - via taxation - was used to prop up its competitors? Toyota, Nissan, same question.

  • @XKG80 GM was under when Obama took over honey...he had to save GM....and they paid back so what's the problem? So we can bail out wall street but we can't bail out GM?

  • @Msbea345 The problem is principle. How about a 'bailout' to the taxpayer? How about that money to go something useful like education or health care for the troops instead of to giant, mismanaged corporations? And you know what happens when you give free money to a corp--the execs pocket it.

  • a very good ad, thanks for making this and reminding voters what the alternative would have been

  • Finally the DNC gets off its ASS and produces a compelling ad!

  • Congrats on making the right decision here. I was against it, but I too was wrong. Just another reason I am thankful we have a smart POTUS in Obama. He believed in the American Auto workers and it paid off.

  • Republicans would barbeque their own kids alive if their pimps the Koch brothers told them to.

  • Great video clips and well put-together message! Thanks for this

Republicans are simply the most deluded and disgustingly fact-deprived evil people in the nation. And they are ALWAYS WRONG!!!! This video should be all America needs to wipe out those 3 Republican Presidential candidates for good!

  • @awreslr2

You are correct. They are ALWAYS WRONG! Always!

  • Pawlenty regularly used an accounting change called a tax shift to balance the state deficit without raising taxes which resulted in school, land management and sanitation districts statewide unexpected ly losing $58 million in interest and reserve revenue

He chose not to run for a third term. Why? Hint: The state department of Management and Budget estimates that the two-year budget beginning July 2011 is $4.4 billion short.
