A hype man is like a wing man, if you see any hip hop/rap artists nowadays they nearly always have at least one other m.c. on stage with them to back them up and to get the crowd going. Personally I hate them, I've been at a few gigs ,Eminem included , were I heard more of the hype men than I did of the artist I went to see.
