  • It seems that the Ruthenian seems to be similar somewhat to the Ukrainian.. do you know why is that? There's a Melkite and Ruthenian Church here, but not Ukrainian unfortunately..

  • Ruthenians are just on the other side of the Carpathian Mountains from Ukraine, and they claim the same national poet, Taras Shevchenko, though they refuse to identify themselves with Ukrainians. By now, I guess they do have their own cultural uniqueness, neither Ukrainian, nor Slovak. So, yes, they're similar. Melodies are different, but liturgical structures are the same. Melkites are similar in their liturgies, too, but they're from the Middle East, so, culturally different.
