@chopper0 Anyway, Yuna and Miki are both good players, Mao as well. Hopefully Miki will show us a better Requiem and Cleopatra 2 weeks later, and give Yuna a real challenge.
@chopper0 Exactly. Mao's music is my favorite among all long programs this year, although I don't think she is "old" enough to perform a dark, heavy and deep theme like that.
I think it's just you like the pop music, and I prefer classical one. Such as the Russian coaches like Morozov and Tarasova enjoy classical music more, but US and Canada coaches may not like it so much.
Er... yes Yuna got a high PCS score, it's no doubt. And I admit her transition, footwork and connection among elements are really good. I just didn't feel the soul of music. It's like, you can move all the movement, footwork and arrangement to any other music, but you feel not much different.
Anyway, I don't want to argue with you but I have said "in my opinion". Yes, maybe I am the only guy who is not moved by Yuna's LP this year :)
I am sorry if I bothered you once. But as you said, everyone has different opinions. I like Yuna actually. I think she is good, physically and artistically. And now she is better than Miki. However, It's also true that I feel nothing from her lp music this season. Sp is OK, but profound....maybe too picky.
Forget to mention, "seductive" this word, is not from me, but from an ex-officer of ISU. He praised Yuna a lot, but this word is funny imo.
@chopper0 Requiem is one of the greatest from Mozart and even in the classical music history, and Miki should have been a good performer on this heavy topic of death, soul and religion. However, I think her technique just degenerated in this year, and she was not in a good condition in OG.
Her EX program is really good. It's better than the sp in OG in my opinion.
@chopper0 I don't think so actually. I don't like the music for Yuna's lp. I have practiced piano for 20 years. I know some pieces from G.Gershwin. But I still don't like that music. You can't feel the "soul" from it. If you change the music but with the same motion, it's no difference. However, I enjoy the music for Miki and Mao, specially for Miki's sp.
@chopper0 I agree Miki is not as good as Yuna in artistry. But I didn't feel the "heart move" as you said. Actually in this era, Akiko Suzuki is the real performer.
I haven't seen any moving program after the retirement of Kwan, Slutskaya and Cohen.
@chopper0 I am a Miki fan, and I think you are right. And Miki needs to show more emotion by face. Do you really believe Yuna understand the music well? I don't think so. But she pretends to do that by some "seductive" smiles and motions, and she gets the high scores. Miki needs to improve, or she will be kicked out by Mao and Yuna, even American gilrs.
First of all before you post nasty comments on Miki, let me tell you some great news for real fans of Miki.. Miki won the Short program or Long Program of the Free skate at Universal Sport, so I would like to offer Miki my extensive congratulations to her. Please don't be rude or nasty, Mao fell into 5th place and Alissa Czisny was placed in 4th above her. I saw why Mao was placed 5th... She fell a lot, and I was pretty disappointed in her skate. Miki made an enormous comeback!!!
i'm sure the judges know better than you BadPepsiMan...they probably had their reasons for the high points. I'm sorry I don't know figure skating well enough to explain why Yu-na Kim received 8points however, clearly the judges thought that Yu-na Kim deserved it.
i don't understand the kind of rivalry korean media draws out between mao and yuna. i personally think miki's better than mao. she's talented, unafraid, willing to fix her bad old habit with the jump, never give up no matter what the circumstances maybe, and above all, she's pretty. :D if it wasn't for yuna, i would cheer for her all the time ^^;;
Would not say the Japanese media is any better. But I see a pattern here with the media. Kim vs Asada, Kwan vs Slutskaya, Harding vs Kerrigan, etc etc...Too bad it leaves the others in the shadow...
Yu-Na was overall the best skater in this championships, but I thought Miki's performance tonight was better than Yu-Na's since Yu-Na made an obvious mistake on her jump.
Miki is no way near Yuna when it comes to the program components requirements, and if she wants back on the very top of the podium she has to work on that, because you can clearly see she is capable.. But a very nice comeback...
After I watched it again and again, I think yu-na's performance in this competition was the best, but I don't think Yuna deserves more than 8 points on her jump score in that program. she clearly missed one, and she doesn't have super difficult skills. you brought stuff that was argued 20 years ago, midori ito vs katarina witt. technique vs beauty.
i dont understand ur point here. do you think witt was better skater than midori? she was more beautiful than midori ,thats for sure. however, Midori brought a revolution in figure skating. if jumps are not that important, why they even try 4, 3A? maybe they should do 3x3 at most. thats boring.
i didn't say technique (jumps) is everything, but it should be highly appriciated. if not, it's depressing for skaters who have 3A or quad. Also i already said Yuna was the best in this competitions. But still her score was too high (jump score, more than 8? no way)
Anyways, i am not saying Yuna was bad or anything. she was great. but Korean people tend to care too much what japanese say. Like, couple of people watch the video here if jap commentators are talking ill about yuna. who cares?
but im glad that you post your opinions here. thanks, but u don't have to insult me just because I have different opinions.
Oh ok. Yuna's technical score was only 1 pt better than Miki Ando's technical score though. Where Yuna really excelled is her presentation score (basically like what Kwan always did well on). Even though Yuna had that one mistake on her triple loop... that jump was still counted as a single and was low in point value. Remember, GOE is extremely important and Yuna's GOE was just better overall than Miki Ando's.
@chopper0 Anyway, Yuna and Miki are both good players, Mao as well. Hopefully Miki will show us a better Requiem and Cleopatra 2 weeks later, and give Yuna a real challenge.

@chopper0 No....Miki is not working as hard as Yuna... As I see, Miki practices only 28 hours per week, but Yuna does 48 hours!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Miki is famous for being jealous and do everything she can to ruin other skater's practice

then you think the most important thing in figure skating is jumps.
what a pity
what about absence of choreography in the program of Miki?

BadPepsiMan 2 years ago
that was argued 20 years?
no, that 'has been' argued for 20 years
who is remembered more between witt and midori
that is the answer
femdios 2 years ago
i dont understand ur point here. do you think witt was better skater than midori? she was more beautiful than midori ,thats for sure. however, Midori brought a revolution in figure skating. if jumps are not that important, why they even try 4, 3A? maybe they should do 3x3 at most. thats boring.
BadPepsiMan 2 years ago
i dont know what is your point either
what is your problem, english? or logic?
don't beat arouns the bush
you absolutely think that technique is everything
and my point is the performance of Miki was worse than that of Yuna in presence, even in technique
because miki did 'just' jumps and yuna did 'highly qualified' jumps enough to cover up the one mistake
so yuna's score and gold medal all deserve
wish your insight to grow
