  • estas musicas sao verdadeiros remedios para a alma eo espirito!!!

  • OMG!!!Where did you find this recording!!???

  • I would say this is Renee's work that I prefer.

Would be great to hear the more sparkling "Senza pace, senza speme" voice was so fresh and unique.

  • ????????????

  • afflicted but this air is transposed and not that a little....

  • isn't opera wonderful! such different but lovely versions of the same notes. I'm still a Sutherland fan, but Fleming's characterization is lush and "sexy". The sustained high notes are breathtaking.

  • What a relief to hear someone say they can have a favourite singer, but can still be objective enough to appreciate a different version(interpretation). I was getting a little tired of the fanatics and their "absolute" evaluations of the "good, the bad, and the ugly". Thank you for your balanced viewpoint.

  • I am so sorry, it was I that put that thumb down BY MISTAKE!!! I ask for your forgiveness!

  • I love Renee Fleming and mostly because she has such a distinctive soprano voice. You cannot mistake her for anyone else-her voice sounds so much warmer to me than many sopranos. However, that does not mean that I cannot enjoy other singers. Isn't it wonderful to have such an abundance of riches to listen to? Thank you for your posts.

  • Exquisite... this is another one from the countless proofs that Fleming was born to sing Bel canto... the line is as usual simply perfect and the high notes fascinating!!! A Voice of the Highest level...

  • @Lohengrin33 She suits some bel canto, but not the bigger stuff like Lucrezia Borgia, Anna Bolena, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda or Roberto Devereux. That's simply meant for a dramatic Italian coloratura. That's the mistake she has done on occasion. Singing things that is too big. May I also add that I think her voice is very beautiful, but unfortunately she is not very skilled in the bel canto style. She does things that are stylistically not very "Italian", this according to the Italians.

  • @Turand0t Could you be a bit more specific? Which things exactly does she do that aren't "Italian"? Fleming's technique is examplary which makes her very skilled in bel canto IMO.

  • I was tempted to pull out my copy of the Gala recording myself to listen to this other version of the aria, but you saved me the time!

La Fleming does a pretty good job here, though I would never really describe her as a bel canto singer. It's nice not to hear the Flemingisms she's been doing the past several years, and it's great to hear the aria as it was written (with the other singer).
