Have you made another one of these recently? I'd like to see how the turn around in the economy has effected Eugene. btw, filming federal buildings, uh, ya, don't think that's a good idea any more.
i lived there for two years in 87,88. i was 20 and 21 then. those were one of the best times of my life. I never thought i would move, but i did. I loved it there! now i'm sad it looks like that. i really would have loved to go back. this really makes me sad.
There is one thing you seem to leave out. That's the fact these new building were built because the private sector lobbyied to build them.! Nothing turns Capitalist into Socialist like government money! Whose who have the gold make the rules. Doesn't matter whose in office. You would help people more if you told them to pay their credit cards off!
Funny you mention homeless guy. I never heard that term untill Ronald Reagan was in the White House. Who told people he wanted less government. Then expanded the government bigger than ever! You also skipped comment on that interestate highway bridge. Which was the biggest public works project in history, that distroyied our private rail and rail transit systems. That paid taxes! That hospital is a private for profit company, I thought you'd like that.
DUDE, quit talking shit about the town you live in, eugene kicks ass. we got dank weed, nice people, and a beautiful landscape around us. you obviously dont know what you are talking about either, Mac court is about to collapse, the old city hall has a faulty foundation, and the new hospital was needed because the old one was too small. so quit acting like you know what the hell is going on just because you can drive around and look at shit and make assumptions.
He is pointing out valid information. The new federal building pissed me off even before the economic collapse. How about that massive building EWEB has and they want to build a new one. Gee.. I wonder who is gonna pay for EWEBs new excessive building. Tax us more, charge us more people do not count, only buildings. The people have cardboard boxes to sleep in. Let the rich people have their fancy building and let the common person suffer.
I think you could do a little research to make your facts a little more accurate. This is a pretty non-educated narrative of how you see the government. Fortunately some of your audience recognizes the difference.
it's sad that our city can't provide more for the homeless that occupies a percentage of the population of eugene, but can spend millions on things that we already have. the new hospital was a horrible idea. not only is it conveniently located in another town, but the doctors provides horrible care.
the courthouse is just ridiculous.
and the new basketball arena is simply a waste of space.
The hospital is it's own entity, nothing to do with Eugene.. and they wanted to build the new hospital IN Eugene at first until the morons in city council made it close to impossible.. so like everything else they simply built it over in Spring-tucky where business is actually welcomed.
The new hospital originally wanted to set up IN EUGENE but the city council in all their glory gave them a hard time and Springfield said "come on over" so they did.
thank you alot for you videos your awesome i really should do the same thing for my city we have lost alot of business i live in Redding California wat are you using for a video camera?
Thanks for keeping it real. Was in Eugene 1987-1991 and had a great time...Eugene never was a bustling center of commerce. How is the west side of town doing?
You should also do some footage on the cool sustainability efforts like front yard gardens and such that are going on in Eugene.
Actually the old hospital is in sad shape. I have a friend who works there and at the new hospital who was telling me about it just last week. He took one of the small employee elevators up to the roof, and when he came back down, it made some loud noise and parts fell down the shaft, and it dropped half a floor before it stopped, then continued down normally. They really did need to replace the building.
Haven't been in Eugene for some twenty odd years; living in Euope. Plan to be back for a stop-over next September. Let's hope Eugene will still be there. In your next report show us something of centre town, if you please. Unless it's too sad to watch.
best style of reporting on utube... great for us in other countries to see a real look at the economy rather than watch we're forced to watch on cable

I like your videos. I live in Eugene from 78-80 and 01-07. I love it there, but I had to leave because it's so hard to make a decent living there.
