for those getting disconnected after 10-20mins im afraid i dont have a solution for you but its probably due to a power saving mode you have enabled in controlpanel (just a theory)
Sir I have this problem where I have 54 Mbps on my router then it significally drops to 11 Mbps how do I keep it at 54 Mbps? It says i have 100 Mbps by an Ethernet cord but 54 Mbps by wireless
Alright man, i had experiencing some creepy lag spikes after I bought a new wireless USB adapter, and when i opened cmd it was like: 40 ms, 40 ms, 128 ms, 160 ms, 41 ms, 41 ms, 128 ms, 160 ms, 45 ms etc.!!! But 128 ms wasn't my problem, that isn't noticable in game. THE REAL PROBLEM WAS 2156 ms!!! But when i disabled that in services, the command line was same EXCEPT, the 2000 ms was gone!!! THANK YOU!!! LIKED, COMMENTED AND FAVOURITED!!!!!!!!!! u life saver! :D
Excuse me, I have 100-200 pings always.. but my internetline is 12 mb.. Why do I lagg in firstshooter games? I am using windows 7 .. And I can't find Wireless zero configuration at the services.msc
oh and another fyi, if you do stop and or disable the wireless zero service you will not be able to select other wireless connections, so make sure you have your connection selected to automatic and connected or the 'view available wireless connections' window will prompt you to start the wireless zero service
just an update about using a desktop with bridged connections to use as an adapter for the xbox 360...so far as usual my signal stays at 4 bars but my speed bounces from 24-54mbps.. i thought that was why i was lagging but after using the solution, so far i havent experienced lag spikes..
oh and in the vid you said ur friend said to disable it and you said it wasn't a good idea. Another solution is to stop the service, then go to properties and switch it to manual, so it isnt disabled but it is setup so you need to manually turn it back on if need be
You, sir, are a genius. I've had lagspike problems for as long as I can remember, and this has sorted it perfectly. Thanks a million! One quick thing, I have to repeat this method every time I start windows... is there any way I can keep the Wireless Zero Configuration to stopped or is it something I'll have to get used to? Not that I'm complaining, I was prepared to go to more drastic measures to fix these spikes.
@KizzaD91 no worries man, unfortunately it does have to be stopped every time you restart windows, the only way to avoid this is to use an Ethernet Cord instead of the Wireless Adaptor
Thanks dude! FYI to all. I have cable modem connection with a router and another router as an access point. I am also running my xbox 360 with an ethernet cable to the back of my desktop, and my desktop has a usb wireless adapter. (Bridged connections) I had 4 bars running 24-54mbps but experience lag/latency issues. Learned about the ping/lag spike and saw I had that issue. I used your solution and it fixed the spike but for some reason my ping was running a lil higher. mayb coincidence
I will try gaming on xbox with the solution for those that have bridged connections and use their desktop/laptop as a wireless network adapter for their xbox360 and have a good connection but are experiencing occasional lag/network problems. I will post back with my results...Thanks again bro!
This is what Im looking for, and I couldn't findit on google and I did't new the name for this problem is "spike", but the problem is the same; windows network is scanning for other wireless routers and that's way u got "spikes".
Im trying to find out how to stop lag spikes from connecting my xbox to my computer, because my xbox ALWAYS gets a lag spike although my computer is wirelessly connected to the router, any suggestions?
id say bypass the PC completely & connect the XBOX directly to your router through an ethernet cable or wireless adapter, preferably disconnect your PC from the router while your playing on xboxlive as sharing bandwidth with other online devices will always cause lag in online gaming
I rarely comment any videos but I had to come and thank you. Your solution seems to work like a charm. Those lag spikes were killing me, especially on FPS.
sorry to those using vista or win7 as i dont have those OS's but im pretty sure there is solution videos on them aswell
for people who are getting disconnected after 30mins it could be because you actually have wireless internet, this solution is only for people using a wireless network on DSL internet
I am having lagspikes every 2-3 minutes on youtube on my Macbook Pro 2010 (fully upgraded). I don't know why! I have a D-link wireless router. Help? :))
nice! I'm on XP aswell and I was having the same problem you described, wireless adapter to router config. Seems to have worked over the last 5 mins that since I stoped Wireless Zero Config.
fixes the lag spikes, but my network (after about 15 - 30 mins) auto-disconnects and i have to go out of the game, undo the settings, wait for it to connect (if it doesn't, i often have to unconnect and then connect again), and then go BACK into the game, Re-login and finally, play again. I'm thinking wasting half the time on my desktop isn't less of an issue than lag spikes at this point...
I run windows 7, and this seems to be exactly what i got. You know a way to fix it in w7?..When im talking to people in Skype the lag never appears :S..You know why?
i have something smiilar i have wireless adsl its pretty good but......when i play cod4 pc at the start of each map or in like 3 rounds i get lag spike every 2 secs.....then after about 2 minutes about it its fine...but it really pisses me off
thanks for the help, even though the lag spikes are gone, theres one problem.. after 15 minutes of playing, the internet DISCONNECTS ITSELF, forcing ME to alt-tab OUT of the game, turn ON zero config, let the internet auto-reconnect, and if it DOES'NT, i have to right click the internet, click "repair" wait for it to "repair" (Otherwise called TURN OFF AND ON) go back in the game, find the server disconnected, relog on, and then get bacj in the game. HELP ME PLEASE :(
hey i've been having this lag problem, the same as you but instead of increasing ping every minuite or so, the request times out. and after trying this method it still did not help. its really frustrating i mean uve been through it. have you got any advive or somewhere you can point me?
ey man lucas i need help ..iv been having dos problem for like a year now...cant play on my ps3 ando n comp...i get lagg spieks for a couple of hours..goes away sumtimes den comes back ..=(
@LucasJodoKast dude cud u help me plz , i have wire connection and i play counter-strike but the thing is tht there are alot of lag spikes , my rates are good i turned off Wireless zero configuration stopped background programs and also stopped antivirus but still no change and btw i have 2mbps net connection PLZ HELP
could be a number of things but its probably line congestion, especially if its happening at peak times, your isp can confirm this for you
with so many people using the internet these days congestion is becoming a serious issues for alot of people & killing online gaming for heaps of people aswell (myself included) lucky for me im moving to a new place this week where there is no congestion :D
@LucasJodoKast thanks , well i am now trying to move on to fiber rather than my present copper connection which sux to the core hoping tht it might help
that could be caused by a program that has automatic updates enabled, or for some people who use programs like "Norton" an exclusion has to be made for the particular game your playing
I tried it but it didn't work. When I ping Google though, instead of the ping shooting up, it says: request timed out and after a few moments continues on with the ping. Any ideas?
for those getting disconnected after 10-20mins im afraid i dont have a solution for you but its probably due to a power saving mode you have enabled in controlpanel (just a theory)

ZeTaCk1 1 month ago
@ZeTaCk1 make sure the wireless adaptor your using is connected to a USB 2 or 3 port as USB 1 only supports speeds up to 11 Mbps
also make sure you have 100% signal strength
