  • Coolest white man to ever live!

  • he aint restin... he is rockin.. with all the great rockers, writers, all through history.. Rock on Robert!

  • genial

  • Great song, a staple on my iPod...RIP

  • Great song, I've always liked his music. He was one of those people that just had their own style and didn't have to copy everyone else's. Thanks for all the great music, RIP brother.

  • Its a song...relax. He was actually a class act if you know anything about him

  • I discovered Robert Palmer when I was transferring some LPs and cassettes to CD for my father's friend. This is probably my favorite song off of Riptide, however they're all fantastic songs. He was such a incredibly talented singer and I'm sorry he's no longer around. Thanks for the memories, Robert!

  • Robert was a genius, and I love him for throwing this little gem out there, there are other pieces of his work out there, let's get on it and make it happen!

  • Nice...I live this song. I wish he was around to do more. RIP

  • One of the most greatest songs ever...didn't even know they made a vid for this...Bless you for posting! Thought i was da biggest fan and i missed this..lol Thanx! 5/5

  • I wonder why I've not heard this n the radio

  • Beautiful song from a film of 1934, I think this good version of Mr. Robert Palmer gives the oportunity a new generations to know this song! But for me 1985 are so far!, It's big diference have 25 or 50 years old and sometimes I'm feeling very older!

    JackStarkey from Brazil.

  • w9xzcv3vg6,

the women robert used where at least real women.

  • yup the same girls with him in every video

  • were these the addicted to love chicks? haha!

  • and simply irresistible

apparently they follow him around in life lol

  • ... a pretty good life if you ask me.

  • I had no idea he made a video of this. I wouldn't have thought it was a big song, what with the style of his successful pop hits. The guy could really sing any style and a lot of his best work was wholly underrated.

On a side note, it's slightly irritating to have to have a quick reality check when I think "Oh, 1985 - that wasn't that long ago!" I keep forgetting I'm getting older!

  • Woah, with the fog in the beggining its looks like Robert is walkin in Silent Hill.

  • hahah nice

  • In a book series called Perseus Jackson and the Olympians, Percy's sword is called Riptide.

  • Not bad, but every time I hear this I can't help but think of that Brit TV advert for cross-channel ferries!!

  • A really, really, really great album. Not a bad song on it. I don't buy much music or video for relistening or watching, but I've listened to this album over and over hundreds of times.

  • I'm not gay or anything but Robert Palmer was a pretty fucking handsome man aye

  • Palmer IS legend/////////////

  • Here! Here!...oh ..yes, he definitely was handsome!

  • The epitome of suave.

Dennis Hopper would toast him with a Pabst Blue Ribbon.

  • Looks as though he had a lot on his mind in this video...hope he finally made a decision!...lucky girl...

  • Palmer=legend.

  • A lot of these forgotton melodies really are very 'catchy'. This version is way better than the original which was sung by Ruth Etting in the 'dark ages'. Pity ol` Palmer had to die so young, I like his style.

  • wow, I did not even know he did a video for this track. I gotta say the video is pretty fuckin depressing. This album riptide is what put him on the billboard charts at number 1!

This is one of my all time favorite records and the models to come are absolutely mezmerizing and gorgeous. R.I.P. we miss you man you were always ahead of the curve in music.

  • Now this is beautiful! I like the video too! Such a soothing melody here.

  • I got this bitch, youtubefanforever, off of youtube yesterday, so any of you who had trouble with her, she is gone.

  • One of my all time 'faves'..love his ballads!

Short sweet, and straight to the point!

    miss you, Rob...

  • Robert Palmer's Riptide was used to introduce the 1986 Commonweath Games from Edinburgh, televised by the BBC. What a haunting, hypnotic and soothing piece of music.

  • Song written by the prolific Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson for 1934 Film 'Rip Tide' starring Moira Shearer and Robert Montgomery. Al Bowlly & Lew Stone Band also recorded it.

None had the clever instrumentation of Robt. P.'s version though.

  • Interestingly enough, this was a cover of a really old song from the 1930's or 1940's which originally was sung really fast by a rather posh-sounding British man!

  • Yes he did die. He died of a heart attack.

  • ok so don't bum me out...but someone mentioned that he died....please tell me it is not true.

  • One of Robert's best! Catchy little tune!

  • Loved this the moment I heard it, should have been more popular than what it was. What a loss when he died.

  • I've never actually heard this song before. There is something so sweet and classic about this piece. Reminds me of Rhapsody in Blue. I grew up listening to Robert Palmer and was so lucky to see him live in 1985. I only wish I could have seen him with Power Station. He was so talented and so amazing. I was heartbroken when he died.

  • my dad always played this cd for me when i was little

  • This album was his best!!!!!!!

  • Thanks TONS for this one!

  • I dunno if u noticed, but there are some similar riffs to Addicted to Love in this song. I know that this song came from the same album as Addicted to Love.

  • Pure class! you know? my mother loved this guy!

  • excellent title track from his smash LP/CD/Cassette from 1986

Lots of excellent stuff on that album

    no doubt about it :^)

  • Ace. Loved it on Palin.

  • saw him a cpl of times in concert fantastic nights also sent away a cpl of cd inserts to his management team 12 yrs ago 18 months later came to come back ,,,but they made it back sighned

  • Wonder where the video was filmed?

  • sad to say i only heard this track for the first time last sunday on the soundtrack of michael palins new europe,,,a great artist was robert palmer,,lovely piece of music

  • Stylish, sexy, impeccable. Gutted that I'll never get to see him. Thank you for all the vids.

  • ty UMG fir posting this

  • he was a fine figure of a person, classie in all ways. This song was my favorite.

  • 4 years today, we lost a wonderful, talented man. Robert, we'll never stop playing your wonderful music.

  • i cannot believe it has been that long already

the news shocked me when i heard it

  • Palmer was a lifelong chain-smoker. I even read in an interview that he smoked heavily when he was young to age his voice and give it that bluesy feel.

Too bad that might have contributed to taking his life.

  • Yes, that being said .. he was an attractive man.

  • I love this man and his singing ability.

  • I can't believe I'm about to use the word 'dreamy.' But wasn't he just? So unfair that he's gone...

  • Cool. This is to get us hyped up for the remasters, am I right?

  • I Have Always Loved This Song!! Thanks UMG for posting.

    ~Denis

  • I didn't know there was a video for this song. huh. Lots of walking...which is pretty good I guess. And there's the 'Addicted to Love' girls...that's cool. Hmmm, more walking. Maybe he's getting smokes. Ok, here we go...lyrics.

  • Awesome hair! Thank you Universal for putting this video online. Be sure to check out the other Robert Palmer videos now avaliable on YouTube.

  • Oh, my God in Heaven! What a GOR-GE-OUS man! And his voice, so melodius. I could listen to him forever. That's "my baby!"

  • Yes. I have to agree. One of the many reasons why I'm still pissed that he's dead. He was one wonderful guy.

  • absolutely, i can't believe he's gone, what a perfect man !!!

  • He was Dreamy.. Sexy oooh my!!

  • Hey you lot, this was a married man, he died in his Wifes arms, what you thinking of.
