  • Miss you Tim...Hope you're interviewing all those talking heads you'd always wanted to...your legacy will live on forever...

  • This song. November 22, 09. Cried like a bitch.

  • when i watched this on tv, i couldn't stop crying! bruce did such a great job with this song. thunder road is one of my favorites!!!!

  • Well, the Boss is just that. Who else could have been mor articulate? Great version of a true classic.

  • Worms can't have eaten all of fat Timmah yet...The remaining chunks still would do a better job than Gregory

  • I MISS TIMMY RUSSERT SOOO MUCH!!!! Sunday mornings are not the same without him.

  • I really miss those sunday mornings where politicians would go on Meet The Press having to face Tim Russert. The guests loved him and feared him. Most kids grew up watchingsunday morning cartoons. There are some that grew up on Meet The Press with Tim. Seems like since his passing it gave the green light to the rest of the press to be more outrageous.

  • This just made me realize how irreplaceable Tim Russert still is. Miss him on TV every day, especially now that election talk is heating up again...

  • Love this video. I still miss Tim Russert! A true class act in journalism!

  • this version of this song is absolutely amazing. Even during the introduction I love listening to the guitar. The lyrics are also, just amazing. This is going to be one of those songs that will always stay with me.

  • this version of this song is absolutely amazing. Even during the introduction I love listening to the guitar. The lyrics are also, just amazing. This is going to be one of those songs that will always stay with me.

  • this makes me want to be a better man

  • @DouGR81 well put me too

  • Big Tim : Everybody still misses you very much. I saw your son the other day on the TV, he did a great job and his future looks bright and you would be very proud of him. I miss your work and that smile you used to flash when something pleased you. Bruce did a great job on your favorite song Thunder Road. Thank you Tim for all the great work you did , we did notice.

  • @dawgdan1 aye. luke is tim jr if there ever was one. the future looks bright for him. tim you did well, you and maureen both

  • Thanks Bruce for all the great tunes and times .... : )

  • Thats Bruce Sprinsteen - who r u??

  • when i'm feeling down, this is a song I go to for Tim's spirit to make me smile. I was(still) am a big follower of yours. Have a great day Tim! miss you immmensely

  • I was at the DC show May 18th and took pictures from the right of the stage and i swear,, where Tim usually is in the crowd there is a orb...so I believe that was Tim..I am from Buffalo Tims home town and we miss him dearly..there is a wood carved statue in Tims likeness and honor in S. Buffalo..GO BILLS !!!!!

  • @ILoveLucyE68NY im not a believer in orbs or whatnot. unless ive seen em myself, HOWEVER i do not doubt what you saw at all. he ( tim ) was there. you know it, as do i

  • Yeah, I was on the fence. Those items you mentioned, against a senile war monger and an illiterate drama queen. Thanks Boss.

  • @GeraSchmidt Life is a hill, get over it!!!

  • @GeraSchmidt wonder if ever we'll see those. maybe in '12

  • I can easily see Springsteen & Russert going into a local pub with no security ordering a draft beer getting into a great conversation no matter if you owned bar or were the guy who swept the floor at night. Thats a pretty good legacy to have.

  • THE BOSS IS THE BEST

  • you are a sad, sorry, sick @($#&

  • notice he flubbed one part.

instead of saying "well my cars out back" he says "the bags are packed" as if he said back first...jumping ahead.

u see him smile a lil to himself.

and ofcourse, nobody would ever know cause hc voered it so well...hes so amazing

  • Perfection, beautiful.

  • So Cool. Tim is missed.

    peace.

  • Just watched a DVR recording of the Meet The Press Tribute the week after Tim passed, and had to find this. Peace...

  • "Luke, this is for your pop." classic performance

  • yep, gets me everytime.

  • I never understood people who cried when other people they didn't know died. I never knew Tim Russert but I will miss him deeply. This memorial got to me. I couldn't help but tear up during this performance, and during Luke's eulogy. I will never hear Thunder Road the same again. You are missed, Tim.

  • i cried so much when i saw this that day..i miss tim, he was so great and he's my idol because i want to study journalism. and this performance by the boss is so emotional and amazing.

  • One of my favorite journalists. He was great ebcause he remembered that those suits on washington didn't work for themselves, they worked for the everyday man like Big Russ

  • Fantastic version. And, yes, Tim you are missed... but still in our hearts.

  • this was played on my birthday

  • A fitting tribute to the life of an incredible man...

  • I sure missed Tims Irish smile on inauguration day.

  • rip

  • Simply brilliant! Loved it!

  • can't hold the tears on this one.

  • Russert did the right thing asking Kuchinich and Obama about the UFO and life beyond Earth.

  • Tim Russert is very badly missed and this is a beautiful tribute. Thank you Bruce and Rest In Peace Tim.

  • Wow...this just Sleighs Me. RIP Tim bother

  • This version is amazing.

  • I just cant stop listening to this video, Bruce did true justice to Tim with this tribute

  • these are some of the best lyrics of all time.

  • Tim Russert was the man...nuff said.

  • THANKS BRUCE FOR EVERYTING

  • That was re: It's a town full of losers and we're pullin' out of here to win...

  • again..excellent rendition of thunder road by the boss!

  • This was great.

  • At least with the Boss, one can actully understand what he is saying. Dylan is a great

song writer, but when he sings it is anyones guess what he is mumbling.

  • I agree. there's NO comparison! Bruce rules.

    Thanks

  • ur right, they are great in their own ways

  • Oh, of course. He only wrote the song and has been singing it for 33 years. This is his song, and he can, and has, sung it any way he wants to. Are you really this stupid? You take the opportunity to comment on a video about a tribute and say this crap? Knucklehead.

  • just be quiet nabbcake.

  • It's a town full of losers and we're pullin' out of here to win...

  • Indeed. That was the line that struck me...

  • Great Version of this song. It really expresses the true meaning of the song.

  • Tim Russert was an incredible man. I don't know how we will get through thgis election without him

  • This is a ballad for the memory of Artie Lange. He would have loved this. We miss you Artie.

  • I agree with 911insdie in some ways but I do feel Tim Russert was different. I beleive he did what he did but spoke for the people and was one who cared. My buddy sat in a bar in the Atlanta airport two years ago and talk to Tim Russert for two hours and said that he was one the nicest down to earth people he had ever met. I still love Bruce but in some ways come on he has sold out over the years but hey were all human man

  • show some sensitivity asshole

  • Tim Russert was one of the very newcasters people who actually gave real news. Even at the presidential debate, he ask the candidate question that matter to the United States, not about one's ego.

    RIP Russert.

    Also, Bruce Springsteen is amazing.

  • This ballad reflects simplicity of life and a passion for respect. I think with fond reflection of, not only Tim, but every lost friend. This is "front porch" Bruce. I feel blessed.

  • That's about the best thing i've ever heard.

  • Thank you so much for this dedicated song to Tim, a real person's person. HE is the one who got me interested, and I mean sincerely, INTERESTED, in politics! If TIM said it, it was sincere and unwaving. I miss you, Tim! Rest in Peace, and may the Good Lord continue to watch over you and your loved ones as HE has always done.

  • Bruce has always been the soundtrack of my life...Tim kept them honest.....two of my heros.....sigh...God Bless Us

  • Bruce has always been the soundtrack of my life....Tim...keep them all honest....two of my heros.....God Bless Us All.....Sigh.....

  • First of all, not the place to bring your ridiculous views. Secondly, define "kill" the USA. Last I checked we're still running the world. Move to Canada.

  • Can I get an estimated date? How about the big revelation, anything there? Or is this just mindless spew?

  • i really wish you could hear anything you just said and think about it. thats honestly just embarressing. youre a fuckin idiot.

  • I ain't familiar with Tim. But I like a guy who doesn't jump on the band wagon, way to go!

  • This is great.

  • beautiful acoustic version

  • just beautiful

  • This is without a doubt the most amazing version of this song ever recorded.

  • That's what I was thinking. Incredible.

  • Theres a great canadian singer/songwriter that has the same vibe as Bruce and is pretty much unknown. And he is a rare "new" rock n roller too. just posted a video.

James Parker. Songs called Angry Young Man.

I dont see him as a "rip off" of Bruce. He's pretty unique but definately inspired by him.

  • I checked out James Parker -- yeah, definitely influenced by Bruce, or maybe, just maybe, he happens to have a big heart, ya know? :)

  • Here we go again -- I maintain, aye, OBAMA/SPRINGSTEEN 2008. C'mon, what better can we get? Mr., er, President Obama, please, oh, please select Mr. Springsteen as your running mate (if he's not too busy doing tours LOL). Love ya!

  • Goodnite Mr. Russert.

  • The one man Tim has always wanted to interview but could not. I live in D.C. and would see russert going into the NBC studios almost everyday. He was a classy journalist.

  • GOD I LOVE ROCK N ROLL!!.. Please, somebody, ANYBODY, bring it back!..

  • Aye, we need a man who understands real people and real issues to help Obama lead this country. Bruce is the man! He'd be the best advisor to Obama as VP. Oh, and that's alright with me...

  • OBAMA/SPRINGSTEEN 2008!!! Even if John McCain has 22 yrs in military and 26 yrs as a senator. This Dude will be the next bush, he has joined the militairy for 22years!! hes a murder! He loves war thats the reson why he chose for the military! Obama wil change The USA including The World. OBAMA stands for CHANGE! Str8 From Amsterdam/The Netherlands!!!OBAMA/SPRINGSTEEN 2008!!!

  • We need Bruuuuuuuce!!! We need to Bring 'em Home! We need a change. Yeah, we need Obama! We need peace. We need Bruuuuuuce!

  • Go, OBAMA, AND Bruce!! :O) OBAMA stands for CHANGE....something America desperately needs.

  • Tim Russert was a highly respected political journalist in America today. He was trusted in the way Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite were in their time. Tim and Bruce were good friends.

  • Buckeye the fact that you would post here at this time in the way you do show's it is time for a change in your country. As for the ARAB comment!!! dear oh dear

  • Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!!! Love ya! Thanks for being you and giving us the gift of good songs like "Thunder Road." OBAMA/SPRINGSTEEN 2008!!!

  • BRUUUUUUUUUUUCE!!!!!

  • I'm from Norway so I don't watch much american television. I have however been following the presidential debates closley on youtube. I will always remember Tim as the guy who asked Kuchinich the UFO question. This is my favourite Springsteen song and hopefully I get to hear it on July 8th.

  • This guy should be Obama's running mate. He has total integrity and he happens to be a brilliant artist.

  • Goosebumps.... 2 more days then Rocking Copenhagen! :)

  • i damn near cryed when i saw this for the frist time what an awesome rendition of this song

  • Sorry, I do not know who the guy the tribute to is, as UK resident. But Bruce is still as cute as ever!

  • Tim Russert was a highly respected journalist who hosted "Meet the Press".

  • To the "PrimeSpotCom", I live in St. Petersburg, Russia for 14 years now, born and raised on Marcy Street in Freehold around the corner from Bruce's home on South...no such thing as a "FORMER FREEHOLDER"!! )))) Bruce is Ameria!

  • Ya know, Bruce has ALWAYS given a shit about people. He is a most compassionate person. He is an inspiration to me and others. Conservative, liberal, whatFECKINever, he is the best, who feckin cares? I mean, he is sincere, genuine, and a true American. I would give anything to meet him, shake his hand and say, "Thanks!" THUNDER ROAD is one of the best songs ever! Hey, thanks, Brucey!

  • Who cares about polotics.bruce is amazing so shut up about fucking elections and crap like that and enjoy a wonderful rendition of what is in my opinion the best song of all time.

  • Bruce is very sincere,''big Irish smile''. God bless you Tim Russert.

  • Bruuuce!

Howdy from a Fellow Former Freeholder

07728. I met you in the 80's sitting at the bar at the Stone Pony. Maybe you remember, I was prob the ONLY one who didn't realize it was you, DUH!

    Nice tribute, keep singing.

    Life is too short!

  • "It's a town FULL of LOSERS and I'm pulling out of here to win"... There is nothing left to say...

  • Bruce Springsteen and Tim Russert are two giants of men, whom we call all be very proud.

  • Who is Tim? Im a big fan of Bruce but never heard of Tim Russert til he passed.

  • Tim Russert is one of the rare journalists who actually leave a legacy because he was the right man at the right time with the right technique. He will always be ours, Amen.

  • Tim Russert forever our hero!! from southside USA we stand proud and salute!!

  • Bruce grew up in a poor neighborhood with poor parents. He didn't have ANY money in the bank until after Born in USA. He was almost 40 by then. Limousine Lib? He earns a great living doing what he loves. You should be so lucky. Sour grapes, huh? Too bad for you.

  • you are an idiot

  • I'm a conservative. But, it does not matter at all...if you can be as powerful and as salient as Springsteen, you deserve to be a millionaire -- who cares when.

  • Yes the Boss grew up poor and he has never lost sight of the people who struggle to support themselves and their families to just provide food and shelter. We met in 1972 or so. He had joined the picket line at the 3M factory in Freehold to support the factory workers. Could I amagine that I might meet him again on a picket line in support of working people? Yes..he had that empathy of soul then and he still does.

  • Talk about hypocrisy. I assume you're a conservative and you believe in capitalism? So liberals who come from humble beginnings can't live nice? But conservatives who come from humble beginnings can? You are just looking to criticize a liberal, no matter what he does, based on your conservative prejudice. I'm sure if Springsteen lived in a modest house you'd criticize him for that too. Face it, you are a bitter fool.

  • starving and living in friends apartments spending winters under bridges or in telephone booths listening to old rock records growing more and more bitter at the world ... yet still finding faith somewhere somehow

dropping out of school cause he felt so dang awkward and felt like everyone at school hated him

and didn't get a hit song till he was 35 years old

  • great man

...paying tribute to a great man

  • It shows how respected and liked/loved Tim was, when networks show the funeral live and take out full page ads in newspapers in respect. Though I never met Tim,I knew him.He was one of us. RIP Tim.

  • people need to learn to click the "reply" button when replying to a massage instead of just posting a comment. No one here knows who they are talking to...

  • i have been clicking the reply button. comments are posting at the top instead of beneath individual comments. and for what it's worth, most people who attend private school know the difference between a "massage" and a "message". your parents might want their money back. but then again, poor spelling is the least of your educational worries if you think barack is a fascist......

  • amen sister!

  • no, actually, you're wasting our time. stop spouting your drivel and tell it to someone who cares...3 separate single line replies in the span of a few minutes - a regular rocket scientist. no wonder you don't get bruce - appreciation of the man and his work do require a modicum of intelligence, of which you are in short supply.

  • If ever you needed proof of the greatness of this country and its people, Tim and Bruce are perfect examples. God Bless the Russert family and God Bless America.

  • You can hide 'neath your covers

    And study your pain

    Make crosses from your lovers

    Throw roses in the rain

Waste your summer praying in vain

For a savior to rise from these streets

    Genius!!

    GB Tim and his family!

  • GOD BLESS YOU TIM AND FAMILY

  • Bless you Tim.

  • dcmetro, you are an unmitigated idiot. "thunder road" is arguably bruce's best work ever, which is saying a ton given his catalog, and bruce has been described as one of tim's biggest heroes. and if you bothered to listen to bruce's intro, you'd know there was a direct connection in this song choice. but obviously you preferred to post your politically motivated drivel. so do us all a favor and shut up.

  • God bless Tim and his family. Lets go Buffalo!! We miss you.

  • Want add - Best American Anchor

    Location: Heaven

    Please contact God if interested.

No surprise Tim was selected -

Only the BOSS could have done you justice.

  • bruuuuuuuce. rip Tim.

  • His politics may have been left of center, but he left that at the door every Sunday morning to be the best journalist he could be. He loved this country and that is more than I can say about a lot of people these days. God bless him and his family and thanks to Bruce, the number one fan had a great send off. Rest in Peace.

  • Dcmetro shut up and quit posting idiot

  • They were actually friends on a personal level and Bruce was Tim's favorite musician. How can you then say it wasn't appropriate?

  • America needs it's Heroes. He may not have cured the common cold but he did a lot of good and was authentic. A very rare quality these days.

  • We all lost part of each of us when Tim passed at such a young age. His believes tied to the common man's idea of love of his family/country, hard work and help to the less fortunate is why he and many of us relate to Springsteen. Many of you know Tim headed the group that contracted Springsteen and the E Street Band to his John Carroll University '70s days during college. Fitting Bruce to be part of all our celebration of Irish Tim's life.

  • Thank Bruce for singing this; thank you Civilized Jerk for posting this and Thank you Tim Russert for being a good man!

  • As Bruce sang in Thunder Road...

"Tonight we'll be free and all the promises will be broken...."

    and Tim's battle cry

    "Let's go get 'em"

Thanks Boss, nice send off and Tim you'll be missed without question. I can't imagine who will fill your shoes.

It was an an emotional memorial.

    Blessings to Maureen and Luke.

  • God speed Tim. I love both you and Bruce a lot.

  • Rest in Peace, Tim.

  • It is clear why these two men of passion and integrity admired each other so much.

  • Pure class. And I'm not surprised at all that Bruce showed up, even if it had to be via satellite 'cause he's in Germany.

  • Bruce is such a classy guy and artist. And Tim Russert really was a classy guy also and will be missed....

    RIP TIM RUSSERT

  • Is there a classier rock musician...or person than Springsteen? Total class. Good man...showing his appreciation for another good man..Tim Russert

  • Nobody said you had to like Bruce's political position. That has nothing to do with him being a class act, great humanitarian, talented musician and songwriter, and all-around great human being. Nobody's perfect....are you??????

  • Thanks for the analysis, Sovereign Lord of Musical Knowledge.

  • you, sir, are an uninformed idiot; nothing about this performance sucked. there are a few places where his vocal is a bit off, but aside from that, it's pretty perfect. perhaps you're simply clueless about how a rock legend transforms when performing acoustically with only a guitar to support his effort...the simple melody allows the vocal to be highlighted. there are very few artists like bruce who can be as effective with just a voice and a guitar as they are with their full band behind them.

  • Are you really this ignorant? I did say he could write great songs and play the guitar, but it was not classy of him to cheat on his wife and to shun his loyal fans because they don't have the same beliefs. If you think that is class then I feel sorry for you.

  • oh, good lord - i wouldn't be spouting anything about ignorance, you dolt. did you get burned by a prior partner so you carry on endlessly about bruce's infidelity 20 some years ago?? the man is an imperfect human being - get the fuck over it. he doesn't owe you shit if you don't agree with his politics; he didn't shun you - you shunned him. he happens to also be one of the single most admired american artists in the history of music. nice attempt at minimizing his impact. idiot.

  • Is that the best you can do?

  • You fascist scum!

  • Are you referring to some people he interviewed like Barak Obama? If so then yes.

  • you spelled Barack wrong and no I'm referring to people he interviewed like John McCain. Really, it was a response to a comment serno225 posted.

  • You can do better tha that.....can't you? Is that the best you could come up with, with your public school education? Try again, I think if you put your mind to it you can do a little bit better.
