  • See you all soon.

  • Class reminds me a bit of fools gold - 2nd coming i underated album some classics on it - Reading the rise and fall of the stone roses at the minute - great insight into the band - never knew the roses began life as a five piece and they were up in court for pollocking a merc haha class band !

  • Great little song love it.

  • Soooo Overated

  • everyone asks what's your fave roses tune? you could pick something obvious like fools gold or resurrection . Be cool like me and say somethings burning

  • I am the vine,

    And you are branches.

Damn, that is getting tattooed on me somewhere..

  • i'm always sad when this song fades out, squire just getting into his stride

  • This song is so fucking cool and smooth!! I love The Roses; even their b-sides are pure quality!!This is easily one of my Roses favourite song

  • First time hearing this song...Smooth Jazzy Funky Deep elements with that "taka taka taka taka"in the background....sooo nice! Thx to my girlfriend for putting me on!....

  • Ah, what a masterpiece...!!

  • I"m a very late SR discoverer, but this track is very nice and kind of jazzy. Reminds me of early Traffic. Anyone out there old enough to remember them? ;-) Cheers from Houston, Texas

  • @sallie46 I'm not old enough to remember traffic but i have heard some of their stuff. I think Traffic an the roses both have a laid back style of playing. They never seem to try too hard an i think you can hear this in their music. On second coming which in my opinion is an excellent roses album, you can hear the blues influence more than their earlier work and its this i think that the critics did not like, they expected an album just like their debut album. Listen to Second coming its awesome

  • The only criticism there should be towards Second Coming is that the interval was too long between the albums and by then the seeds were sown for a new movement in music. The Roses could have pissed into heaven otherwise...

  • What I wouldn't give to just talk to Ian Brown for one hour...

  • Comment removed

  • Second Coming is a classic album!

  • simplemente hermoso.....

  • doesnt get any better....my fav roses tune..!

  • man is this song sublime. mysterious, subdued, melodic, hypnotic and catchy as hell. That guitar lick that brings the song back around after the chorus while the bass drops out is some tastiness.

  • @honuman39 I'll say!

  • @honuman39 I was listening to this song on autorepeat while I was high days ago.. it was amazing. There were tons of intruments, each note of them hitting my soul and my mind like pillows. It felt so good. I can't explain.. this song drove me to the stars.

  • @honuman39 as well as BADASS!!

  • The "Lost Demos" version of this on the special edition Stone Roses album is almost unrecognisably different! Still an absolutely knockout tune though.

  • the roses at their zenith........

  • somethings burning......its the cherry on my J!

  • one of the best flying song

  • @mrmanc... spot on pal.second coming was still a quality album. love spreads, ten storey love song, breaking into heaven... all sublime tracks.

  • sounds alot like foold gold.

love the roses, and always will, top band!

  • 20th Century Dolly Parton, "and i think it's love"

  • brilliant song. the roses at their best!

  • For my Music Technology A-level, I did a Santana style arrangement of this. It really worked- because it uses the same chords as a Santana song called 'Oye Como Va': Am D- but so do alot of songs- not a rip off or anything.

It's not the most eventful song in the world, but the point is that The Stone Roses take these laid back grooves, and craft a good song out of it- like with Fools Gold.

    The Roses Forever.

  • @shakermaker508 it sounds like Squire took a lot of infuence from Santana.

  • this is a real killer! this wah wah man...

  • ian said that instead of puttin 1 love out as there next single they should have gone with this,..this is the direction ian wanted to go put john went all led zep,..

  • why do we always have to compare..!!!!

just listen to the music man

who gives a shit what came first or who's like who and who's better blah blah blah..listen to the music and move on assholes,,,!

  • Reni was so good it's impossible to tell where his loops finish and where his live drumming kicks in. The groove master.

  • stone roses the album is like a big old English tree. it has strong trunk (the album itself) but his roots (B-sides) holding it as strong as the trunk. roses got the best B-sides.

  • my favourite roses song. Defenitly a desert island disc.

  • @colombian73 i'll second that

  • BTW tards, Turns Into Stone was a money spinner for Silvertone. It's a bad compilation album with a clever title ('turns into stone' being the last words ian sang on a TSR 'a' side for a very long time, as the group did almost literally turn (in)to stone(d)).

It's the 12" singles of Elephant Stone, One Love and Fools Gold, the B sides of Made Of Stone, She Bangs The Drums, cos Silvertone obviosly felt they hadn't released them enough already o.0

  • Reni on the vibraphone... under-used talent, they should have got him to play more instruments in the studio. Hell.. they should have done a Beatles and let him do lead vocal on some of the tracks.

  • got to be one of the best songs they did, its so cooool

  • Wouldn't the true Stone Roses fans class 'Turns Into Stone' as an album, in which this song featured as the last track...I certainly would, furthermore for all the wankers who says that 'The Second Coming' is shit...actually listen to it and then think about all the crap bands who are out today who couldn't knock out a turd, let alone a song which could stand up against any track on that album. This album is very under-rated..and that's why it is popular, it was the critics who slammed it..Cocks

  • its gems like this that makes the roses classier than oasis. could you imagine oasis trying something like this

  • ur actually right oasis doing some thing like this would be dodgy and it wouldn't be a good song

  • totally agree. the second coming is for me probably as good as the first album. turns into stone is basically the stone roses third album, much in the same way as i class masterplan by oasis to be one of their best records.

  • damn right kid

  • @MrManchester316 - sorry to disagree, the second coming was a good album by any standards but i didn't need the press to tell me i was disappointed with the new sound, and neither did alot of roses fans. No, the second coming is shite, because it sounded generic. Even One Love was more 'fun'. I personally wanted more Somethings Burning. The Roses had a habit of releasing B sides that should've been double As. Where Angels Play, Going Down, Mersey Paradise, I could go on..

  • I was moved to comment by your use of the word 'wanker'. mate.

  • Don't you think you should actually give the stone roses credit for this album seeing though they was trying for a different musical direction, and not trying to sound like the samey wank music we have had to contend with with the brit-pop scene. The Roses did release b sides which were deserving of the a side status, but which band doesn't do this!! and a lot of roses fans LOVED Second Coming...don't listen to the media spin, especially NME!!

  • @snakeyjakehall true

  • @MrManchester316 The Second Coming is such an underrated album. It's class and sounds even better today. Squire wahwah guitar is incredible.

  • @MrManchester316 Haha, couldn't knock out a turd.

  • @MrManchester316 Well said brother

  • @MrManchester316 just because there is crap doesnt make other music good

  • @MrManchester316 compilation albums like "Turns to Stone","The Complete Stone Roses" (even) "Garage Flowers" (which to be fair, IS the ONLY way u can hear the Roses oldest work & NEEDED saving from being lost forever)

aren't the same thing as "an Album" (like when u say "their 1st album"or "their biggest album" ect)

No matter how good it is...

It's a collection of their songs laid out by the record company (in this case Silvertone)

NOT the "experience" the band planned on us listening to

  • @MrManchester316 true roses fans have all the singles with b sides already. No need for turns into stone for us. But its good for those who missed out on the singles at the time I guess

  • @skeptic9876 This is true, but it's the best of the b sides which is on that album

  • @MrManchester316 am sure this is the bside tae one love, true? bought it on vynal with a limited edition postcard in the inside of the sleeve. seen them in a big tent on glasgow green round aboot 1990,memory a bit hazy. who said the second coming was shite?good fucken album, will they be as good this time round? who gives a fuck, was there first time round ha ha ha

    /

  • @MrManchester316 True Roses Fans would have all those songs on Turns Into Stone on 12" Vinyl and would not be lining the people at silvertone records pockets. They killed a promising band and disapointed a nation.

  • 1 of me all time fave Roses tunes,.funky as fk and a real cool tune,.!!!....top lyrics aswell..

  • The Complete Stone Roses is your answer for the compilation. . .

  • No they weren't. John Squire had some sort of fixation with german painting and something to do with the nazis.

  • yeah,bolivianex...i agree,Reni's drum sound and squires dance licks would of made a top album,shame.............!!!

  • the story of the Roses complete and cool,......dont need to get back together,...STILL BUY A TICKET THOUGH!!!

  • i really love this tune.

  • i hope they reform i reall fukin doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolegendssssssssssss

  • Pity about the silvertone court battle songs like this, one love, fools gold would have made a crackin album in the early 90's. Probably would have propelled them to worldwide domination.

  • doesn't matter.. we can always daydream! and you definitely cant beat that!

  • You stick to Mount Kilimanjaro!

    (Y)

  • "what you gonna do with the rest of your life!"

  • someone needs to do a guitar cover of this x

  • they WOULD easily be the best band in the world! but after a while there would have been a backlash against them, wouldnt have meant as much as they still do now! Roses were and are the best!!!

  • i cant help think that, had they stayed together, the stone roses would easily be the best band in the world right now

  • JOHN; CHAPTER 15

  • I love this song.

Its a good song for chilling out.

  • yer far too lazy, you stick to the pillow with ease!!

CLASS! Always will be the best band ever!

  • Reminds me of hot sweaty summer days drinking Merrydown cider and sharing a 1/6 of Red Seal with a few mates.

I am the vine, you are the branches.

  • dont you mean a 1/16 (teenth) lol

  • I can see the love and the hate in your eyes

Penny for the thoughts behind your disguise

What you gonna do and what you gonna say?

I'm not the only one believing there's an easier way

  • Thanks Mark

  • Oh yeah gotta love those paedos

    O.o...........

  • This is the kulest thing ever......real mellow vibe to it and then theres that amazing chorus!!!...AND its a B-side !!!!???

    just cant stop listening

  • I remember reading a Morrissey interview where he said 'the roses are good, but they just don't have the songs'!

He forgot to mention that he had never listened to any B-sides, which are better than all the Smiths A-sides.

  • @klinepatsy I don't know how you can compare Stone Roses to The Smiths..? Completely different.

  • @jasmineetamaraa they both sound like tomorrow's music

  • Hey wheres the live version of this at spike island gone? put it back up

  • my head is spinning! i haven't been intoxicated by the stone roses in a very long time. this track was the bomb back in the day.....and it still is. great memories. makes me want to go dancing or kickstart a revolution.

  • killer chorus

  • This is the track(on hearing it for the first time & loving it & being influenced by it) that made Guy Garvie (Elbow) wanmt to make music - Listen to the "Seldom Seen Kid album" {2008} and you'll hear this kind of influence all over the place.

  • second coming

  • still blows my mind after all these years like!what a tune.i love listenin to all the backward guitars an drums!swansea.

  • mind blowing the shear genius of their songs.

  • You can't beat the stone roses!

  • What an absolutely unique & amazing tune....

  • one of my fav roses track. still got it on 7", the b-side to "one love". love it, so thx for posting :-)

  • Having listened to the greatest hits of both the stone roses and the happy mondays, is there any other artist/ different album from these guy that you would suggest listening to?

  • oasis, verve, charlatans, primal scream?

and former member projects: black grape, seahorses, ian brown(solo)

    plenty of similar stuff...

  • the stone roses had i think just one hit in the u.s. in the early nineties do you you know what it is?

  • They had a few US hits. One Love charted the highest.

  • what about love spreads??

  • @MarkTurver1990 Not in the Hot 100, that honor belongs to Love Spreads.

  • could also be "fools gold"

  • @xterrasc Fools Gold, as featured in New Jack City. It has to be

  • @xterrasc what the fook has America got to do with the price of bacon?
