  • what a fucking awesome version.

  • Thanks Bruce S for being Real !!!

  • my cat (be-bop) either loved or hated the mouth organ as she always got up from where she heard NO Surrender or Johnny 99. I personally think she was a Brucie fan!

  • 3 People Retreated And Surrendered.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER

    hahahaha :)

  • To me, this isn't so much as keeping a dream, but staying afloat. Marching on, fighting the good fight with the other close to us, if we're lucky enough to have them at our sides.

  • Va per tu, HM!

    Greetings from Barcelona!

  • WOW! I am almost persuaded to walk out of this cowardly cocoon and live a dream.

  • Δεν το βαριεσαι ποτε

  • THE BEST VERSION I'VE HEARD!

  • To all potential monarchical terror chiefs, live by the sword, die by the sword, but we will not surrender to your will!

  • fuckin beautiful version, but im gonna disagree on what he says about dreamers. to me its the ability to keep on dreaming that makes us MORE than human. anyways, i wish he would have done this unplugged at all the e street shows i went to! im too damn young...

  • A true master.

  • 2 people just surrendered

  • This why they call him The King!

  • @trumpetbeek Springsteen's called "The Boss",

  • My all-time favourite song. The boss is king

  • .... JUST AMAZING...

  • you say ya tired and ya just want to close ya eyes, and follow your dreams down!

  • the person who disliked surrendered

  • Thank you Bruce!! Thank you!

  • Today I'm a musician, and music is all to me. Music saved my life.

And you, Bruce, showed me the world of music. Opened up the gate to the kingdom for me. You saved my life!

  • I love this song, Springsteen is the greatest song writer in history and his singing is just different... brilliant singer

  • where can i down load this song?

  • The Boss!!!

  • Sprinsteen is a God, a true rocking and roll legend. This song is nothing short of pure genius, but off course all his songs are. My Dad was the biggest Springsteen fan in the world, I played this song at his funeral, cant think of a better send off I could of gave him. RIP Old Man you were the best.

  • @3242stevo Springsteen is the best rocksinger thats true but he is'nt a god. He is a man like, maybe, you and me.

  • @3242stevo

Cool. I have it in my will to play the live version of Thunder Road at my funeral.

  • Comment removed

  • @3242stevo nice send off, would of been proud

  • @3242stevo says: "Springsteen is a God" I disagree! GOD is an acronym for Good Orderly Direction, which I'm sure Bruce is allergic to.

  • @3242stevo Cool about your dad. I have it in my will to play the live version of Thunder Road at my funeral.

  • @3242stevo Tear in my eye reading this :-(

  • @3242stevo

man your comment gives me tears! whish I could met your dad. wish you well

  • @3242stevo: Ok Stevo. You touched Me. I'll sing this song tonite as soon as i get back from work. I will sing it for your father, for you, for my father and for me. Rock On! Dads Survive into these notes too. :D

  • @eng1871 stop feeling sorry for yourself

  • @lan155 think you missed my point there Ian. Thanks for your interest in my feelings but Ive never felt sorry for myself...

  • I remember the days when girls had blood sisters...

Kids today can't make that blood pact any more , and it saddens me that innocence is taking from our children, but for me - no defeat, and no surrender is the way we can give it back.

  • @SuzzyStohelit Following me again?NO RETREAT BABY NO SURRENDER.

  • @SuzzyStohelit Well of course, I was into a loyalty, honor and promises kept. OK No defeat either cuz...I'm ready to grow young again, what a great lyrics !

  • I cried.

    Thank you.

  • I know I messed it up,it's supposed to be learned in school not did.

  • could I possibly make a comment on your site?

  • @desttre Of course

  • Absolute greatest lyrics in the history of music :

WE BUSTED OUT OF CLASS HAD TO GET AWAY FROM THOSE FOOLS

WE LEARNED MORE FROM A THREE MINUTE RECORD THAN WE EVER DID IN SCHOOL

  • No Surrender will always remind me of the better times in my life an my love rock n roll. I am 14 btw

  • @Zabbath marine band.

  • damn I've cried all the time

  • Is this version on any of his albums?

  • yep its on the live '75-'85 album

  • @adambyrne08, While there is an acoustic version of this song on Live 75-85, this isn't it. The one on 75-85 was recorded at the Meadowlands. This one is from Toronto.

  • @Howiedoin77 Yeah, I've been looking for the version that used to be on youtube, where he starts out..., "This one is for Friendship"....Is that the same one from 75-85 ?

  • @realirishgirl That is from 75-85 & it was on yt at one point, but this is from the same tour.

  • This is the ultimate version of this FANTASTIC SONG!!!!

  • Can't see how it could get any better.

  • never a true a word said

  • @classeb10 Yes it is! =)

  • I love this song. Thanks for sharing this version. Wouldn't it be nice if all bosses at any place you get a job, would be like Bruce Springsteen? I'd like to have him as my boss any time. :-)

  • yes this is my favorite version..our football coach would play it before games

  • one of the only acoustic song, or version of one, that would be appropriate to play before a game

  • we play it after

    after r last home.

    its r senior walk

  • this song sounds so much better acoustic.

  • I agree. This is better than the fast version.

  • I love how he's the only person who's filln the biggest stadiums and at the same time managed to stay authentic and keep it real. Thumbs up for the Boss!

  • We could cut some place of our own with these drums and these guitars :)

  • beautiful

  • It's good to see your smiling face and hear your voice again. Now we could sleep in the twilight by the river bed, with a wide open country in our hearts and these romantic dreams in our heads....*S*

  • Now young faces grow sad and old...and hearts of fire go cold....we swore blood brothers against the wind, now I'm ready to grow young again.

  • I think in my opinon this has to be one of the my honest lines in this song. It's so true, when you go see him in concert in person like it did, when you see him perform this song, you can tell it means something to him, he makes you how he feels.

  • me too, didyrocks :D

(can`t imagine to live without his music)

  • wish i was alive around that time,

    just to hear his music

  • uno dei pezzi del secolo

  • I wasn't alive on that day!!

  • Magic

  • my dad gave me one of his live cd's and it has this version of no surrender on it... damn i wish id been alive in '84 haha.

  • Better version then the quicker timed one on the studio version. Great song classic Bruce imagery of teen angst.

  • I was born on te 27th of july, round about 01:00 P.M. - Can't be coincidence!

  • shawn likes it alot

  • different than 75-85 version still one of the songs that turned me from heavy metal only to a big time bruce fan back in 87.

  • Thanks for posting thei ...I was there in 84 in toronto ..it was at the old maple leaf gardens ..and one hell of a show...to see bruce run then slide across that stage on his knees while he wailed that guitar ..man it was electric ..then clarence come in on sax ...wooa ..it was the darkness on the edge of town tour never forget it wow

  • Check out his arms! I call them 'Bruce-ceps...'

  • ofc, the greatness with bruce is his biceps.

  • max & clarence were sportin the big guns on that tour as well.

  • I am gonne see him in concert tomorrow!!!!

  • this is amazing!

  • Played this version at the Carolina Hurricanes game last night. I'll always remember that group of guys when I hear this song! Love my hockey team! Love Bruce!

  • Comment removed

  • thank you boss

  • How many people have the class to write a song about a guy that left their band, and even give a boost to the guy's album in his concert? He is the real deal.

  • That, my friend, is loyalty mixed with love.

  • @geebeebee1

    great words.

  • @geebeebee1 Not many, take for example when you leve a job for a better job, suddnely everyones your enemy not your buddy any more,

  • @geebeebee1 Why you'd think they call him... The Boss!? He's the best!

  • Damn. I've loved the boss for 20 years and can't remember ever hearing him play harp like that!

    He lives!

  • This man and thats what he is i like to sit down and have a rather buy him a drink topman with hair on his balls.

Really how i like to think about the usa I am sorry its no longer the place that this man is sining about . Bring back ronny i wish life was simply again

  • Dios... La piel de gallina...

  • I love this version of this song. I was at this show when he did this song & I tell people about it, I had no idea that there was a recording of it. Now I can show them what I saw & heard that night at the Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. Thank you

  • I don't agree with you. The things you said are not true. I guess you are just jealous...

    Your comment just sucks.

  • Ahh Go back to from whence you came, do us all a favour, Ingrate !

  • Bruce!! :)

  • love this version a real gem of a human song

  • Best song ever !

  • I think u´re wrong there...I´m 17 and I love Springsteen and also Dylan...both are great musicians and songwriters and what they did over all these years is really admirable

  • respect to you for listening to some of the great artists of our time, no doubt 20th century's answer to the great classical composers.

but please dont discard music being released today in a way that disappoints me so often with kids i see who dig springsteen etc. couple of years ago i was the same as you but im glad ive learnt to appreciate music from all times and places.

not saying you do, but heed this advice! haha

  • I am 36 and have loved both Dylan and Sprinsteen since I was 15. Dylan is an outstanding poet, he knows how to communicate with people of all ages who are prepared to take the time to appreciate him. Bruce is also a great lyricist, but has a way of touching your soul with his voice and passion. Keep listening to the old greats, this is what real music is all about.

  • ostias

  • Thanks for posting. Another great song, with so much meaning. Can't find that type of music with today's artist. Bruce has kept me good company on my search. We made a promise....

  • best version ever

  • Always...

No matter what or who, or where...

    No surrender.

    Always remember it.

  • Man, this is great! Giving credits to Little Steven (remember Sun City?) and all. 5*

    Thanks dynastychick3!

  • I was a teacher, and have ALL THE demons-But I nEveR GAVE up DREAMING-THANK yOU BRUcE!-JAD

  • I have always been a fan of Bruce Springsteen, and this is one of my fave songs by him. This is Bruce at his best! I like the version from "Born in the USA", but I also like the acoustic version. Such a beautiful song, I nearly cry every time I hear it.

  • LEGENDARY!

  • bruce acoustic.....dont get much better then this right here....

Now young faces grow sad and old and hearts of fire grow cold

We swore blood brothers against the wind

Im ready to grow young again

And hear your sisters voice calling us home across the open yards

Believin we could cut someplace of our own

With these drums and these guitars

    ....wow

  • 'We busted out of class, had to get away from those fools. We learned more from a 3-minute record than we ever learned in school'

I love the opening line to this song, I LOVE this song.

I'm trying to turn my primary 7 class to Bruce Springsteen...they are not having it! Need to try harder! They don't appreciate good music yet.

  • No surrender! "Don't go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light." --Dylan Thomas

  • One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. Amazing song! Bruce is the boss!

  • Bruce IS the greatest writer ever of song lyrics that articulate the human struggles everyone faces. He was not an over night success by any means-He knows struggle- That is a BIG reason he is a tremendous songwriter

  • This is one of favourite performances of all time. I feel Bruce excels with just a guitar.

This is the definitive performance of this song. This is pure music.

  • NO RETREAT, BABY, NO SURRENDER

    ILU, Boss <3

  • Brilliant song.

  • BRUCE,SIMPLE THE BEST.

  • i sleep to this song

gives me chilles everytime, hes the best there everr is,its amazing how one person can be so genius...bosss (LLLLL)

  • Amen. Me too. Keep it lit.

  • It makes me dream...Thanks Bruce!

  • the non acoustic version is amazing live...but this version is better.

  • This song in my opinion is so much better acoustic than original so it should always be played like this.....

  • Sono cresciuto con questa canzone e ogni volta mi mette i brividi...grande bruce

  • This song will always make me cry.

  • acoustic is way better than the original. no doubt

  • The Acoustic version is better than original one. I love it so much.

  • epic

  • Yes, no surrender! Work your musical majic. Give me hope again. The Boss forever.

  • AINT THAT TRUE BROTHER......

  • These were times...

  • There is only one BOSS! He still kicks ass!

  • Bruce-very young but still a great poet

  • i never knew that a man's soul could be heard in his voice

  • WOW

  • you are amazing bruce
