for the same reason that some Thai Buddhists who claim to be vegetarians eat fish, including numerous other non religious people who call themselves vegetarians but are in reality pescotarians.

Only plants/water have single sense of touch ( the lowest form of prana ) and so are acceptable as food.

fish has all the five senses how it can be acceptable as food. The more the senses the more is the pain suffered by the living being.

jainism is beautiful but why do so many jains wear leather?

Jainism firmly restricts wearing of leather. But still if some jains wear, what can be done?

There's theory and then there's actual practice. Most religions teach not to kill or commit adultery but so many people who are in those religions still do those things. :-(

@salisburyguy1, it is kind of true. I wonder if one can still call oneself Jain if one violated one of the vows. e.g. pre-martial sex or eat meat.
