Architecture has always been for the wealthy. What else do you find in your architecture books?
A "new" architecture? Honesty? In this stylized, facade-driven, image-worshipping 21st century?
No one is ready for honest architecture.
It would clash with people's ideas of "what is architecture" which equates to "what the rich people have" and that is falsehood.
But once the economy fails, quality shanty towns will return us to utilitarian necessity with creative individualism=CHANGE
