If a duck flies in out of nowhere and lands in your spread, don't panic. Wipe your brow and take a long, deep breath. Then, do one of two things:
1) Stand up & Shoot. Ducks are scared of us, and when we expose ourselves, they tend to flee. Fleeing ducks, in my experience, offer a more sporting shot.
2) Or, you could just water swat the poor bastard . You might feel like a jackass for scuffing up your dekes and ruining the meat, but you won't miss.
Why am I a "worthless coward"? Becuase I think bird's oughta be shot in the air, and not plunked as they swim around in front of the blind? To me, that's cowardice. A "sitting duck" is vulnerable, damn easy to kill with a 12 guage shotgun. But on the wing he's a worthy opponent. Sure, you might miss a few, but atleast you can go home with your dignity.
I seriously can't believe this guy is gonna mount a bird he shot off the water. Nothing worth being proud of.
That's not dignity. You're still shooting something that can't attack back. If you're such a brave mofo, then let's see you go bear hunting. I guarantee you that grizzly will out smart your ass and make YOU his dinner! Don't believe me. TRY IT! I DARE YOU!
@EffayHue I wish I could, but grizzly bear tags are hard to get, and its extremely expensive to go. But if you think you're man enough to shoot at a black bear 50 yards away from the ground, then go for it.
wow if your not a duck hunter you obviously dont know what your talking about .....go hug a tree well leave u alone, u leave us alone ...... we hunt u just dont get it u city slicker
@guitarttimman shut the fuck up i wish i cud kill you, cause u sound like a defensive creature, pussy. dont be watching this video if you dont want to be offended. can u figure that out dipshit??
@guitarttimman Really? So if you go through my freezers and find virtually nothing but wild game, I'm just killing for sport? You can go fuck yourself and after that go hug some trees. That's how a lot of families get their food for fucking asshole. Mine being one of those families. You can sit there and call us a coward, but your sitting behind a computer board acting like a barney badass. Fuck you. Too bad there isn't a hunting season for people like you. Instead of making assumptions, find
@guitarttimman out these things first. That's how a lot of families afford to eat. So like I said, you can just go fuck yourself you inconsiderate prick
@guitarttimman Where are you getting the "fact" that most hunters do that? People like you are just plain fucking retarded who are against something that humans have done since the beginning of time. It's a way of life. It's how I feed my family you prick. If you don't like hunting, don't watch hunting videos. Simple as that. Be a dumbass somewhere else. It's not for the thrill, it's for the meat.
@guitarttimman he says right before grilling a steak dinner. at least I have the balls to kill my own food instead of having someone else do it for me and then taking a hypocritical high ground on the internet. theres no difference between buying a steak at the supermarket and going out and shooting the food yourself in terms of morality. And if you're a vegetarian, then at least the ducks have a chance of escaping, instead of those poor tomatoes you just plucked off the vine, you cruel bastard.
hunting an innocent animal that isn't hurting anyone is wrong! It proves how many cowards in the world! I'm not a coward. I don't like to hurt creatures that aren't trying to hurt me!
It is wrong to hunt a defenseless creature and kill it. I hope you suckers feel real brave killing something that can't fight back! Every person should be taking every step possible to stop this stupidity!
@jtgoosehunter No I used steel (if you see my last comment I mentioned I used high velocity steel). I though it was illegal to use steel and not lead, but I was obviously wrong. So yeah I used 4 shot steel to hunt ducks. Worked like a charm. I dropped a lot of em. But yeah now I know lead is illegal and unethical, I wasn't sure.
can someone recommend what I should use for my remington 870 20 gauge? what type of ammunition? I can't use steel, btw, only lead. I am going duck hunting in the next few days
@TrackStar828 not sure where you are hunting but around here you have to use steel, lead is illegal. If you can use lead, I'd suggest 4 or 5 shot. If you use steel I'd say go with 2 shot. Good luck!
@WyldeLife30 Okay thanks for the recommendation. I used both 4 shot and 2 shot (high velocity steel). Shot 12 ducks total (over the span of a few days, so I didn't exceed the daily limit), all mallards. I am getting a 12 gauge soon though for geese hunting.
@GreenOozingMonster I meant steel* not lead. I flipped flopped the two metals. I can only use steel and not lead is what I meant. Yeah I only have steel shells.
@TheDuckfever agree shooting them on the water is not ideal but when the hunting was as slow as it was for us you gotta take the opportunity when u get it!

@ 5.04 I find it so distasteful that you "check your decoys for damage" before you pick up and finish off a duck!

what kind of decoys were you useing to bring in the woodys?
