  • The funny part is unless the cops catch him using any of them, they can't do shit.

  • Is that illegal to have blue lights like that? What about the sirens?

  • @Darkc0w everything about this attempt is illegal

  • @dirtjumper23 not realy. i mean the wear seat belts :P nar but gps isnt illigal some of the items in the car are not illigal

  • @Darkc0w I don't think it's illegal to have them, but it is illegal to use them on the road.

  • @bordenwesley its illigal to even have them

  • What's the point of the handheld scanner if you already have the other two?

  • @bordenwesley redundancy, redundancy, redundancy. Can't risk one or 2 failing. Just like flying =)

  • what is the final of this car?

  • the red and blue lights in the grill are backwards.... red goes on the drivers side.... i have them in me e90 bmw and used to build police cars.... the red goes on the right as a warning for the cop getting out...

  • @nickw691 its probly so he can get away with impersonation. like on the bullrun they wore difrent uniforms in countrys to avoid being done with impersonation. this is prolly the same idea

  • Amazing man. read his book, aaaaaaand M5 what else...

  • lol this car is so illegal

  • @69mrbrightside691 Actually nothing in this car is illegal to have... Using some of the stuff on the road in some states is illegal

  • Alex Roy: He has more balls than you.

  • hes need to polish car lamps :p

  • Are these scanners/jammers illegal in uk?

  • @XenatR Yes sadly, although the chances of getting caught with a detector are pretty low.

  • people really should check there facts before commenting. alex roy is a legend and is one of few people who had the knowledge and balls to do what he has

  • is alex roy a cop?

  • best part is probably the strobe lights lol

  • why would he have all of this shit on this beautiful car he ruined it

  • @drifter247 To break the cross-country record. It would be pointless to have all that equipment on a car that he's just going to drive to work and back in.

  • Alex is a dork. He has cool shit but still a dork.

  • @bdodge83 tell me, how does a guy who has money, connections, and more balls than anyone on here for him to race across the country make him a dork?

  • what

  • I am not very sure if all the mods on this car are legal but I still want one

  • can some one please tell me what type of lights he mounted in the front grills?

  • @MANUALmobile SHO ME is the brand, I think..

  • @rivbro91 Whelen, he says in the video :-)

  • @MrJonnyJones I do see that now, sorry! I know he used SHO ME's for the Gumball though, lol.

  • @MANUALmobile Red and blue lights are illegal, I don't recommend.

  • very good i would like to do similar stuf

  • I love the 39 M5.. but wouldn't a police pac crown vic be the most appropriate car for doing this in the US? It would require more mods though.

  • what year is the car???

  • @pass558 1999

  • It's from 2000

  • @pass558 2005 he says it at the start of the video

  • @ariell92 he says its a 2000 BMW M5 ... not 2005 ...

  • @ariell92 They did NOT make the E39 5 Series in 2005. The 2005 M5 is an E60, very different car.

  • Extraordinary ride; very powerful and perfectly subtle.

  • I'm a Cadillac man but I'm lovin this car

    incredible job nice car

  • I'm loving those strobe lights.

  • I love how this car is custom made to go as fast as possible across the U.S.

  • It would be fucking awesome if the US had M5 HP cars... oh wait, then I'd be fucked.

  • Electric blue exterior color is not the most stealth when outrunning the law.

  • Alex didn't try to be invisible, all he needed was to be invisible to the laser guns, radar guns, and he needed to know what's going on in the area, that why he had radios(3 of them), and laser jammer with radar detector.

  • Okay, so i just spent around 2 hours trying to find the exact Whelen siren/PA/light box he has. I even went on his web sight and it doesnt give the model number or anything. PLEASE HELP ME FIND HIS EXACT WHELEN SIREN/PA/LIGHT BOX!!

  • I would like to know as well.

  • i just found out, its a custom design

  • are the red white and blue lights illegal? they look great

  • o yeah, very much so. It's called impersonating a police officer

  • i ment to say arent* lol how did he get away with em?

  • if you didn't get caught using them then you are good to go!

  • can they tear em off your car if they see them but they are not lit?

  • if they find out that you used those lights, they will tow the car and rip it all out of the car, fine you, and you will end up repairing the car.

  • Alex, get a Stinger DSI with LaserShield. It has a patch antenna instead of a horn antenna which is much better and the laser function works wonderfully. Just search YouTube on Stinger DSI.

  • Just finished the book today....amazing. I want to meet Alex

  • Not being able todo it on a motorcycle. You could have the speed but you are going to have to stop so much for gas your average speed will be shot

  • not that I believe you but...

    50 hours is more realistic on a MC. there are better C2C routes than NY2LA. a 5gal fuel cell a V1 & a bearcat is a prerequisite

  • 1:06 soooo illegal. lmao. I want one!

  • Illegal in your Providence of Canada but in the states they are only illegal in one state, VA....

However for you there is a radar detector called the BELtronics STi which is invisible to all police radar detector detectors. Might want to consider that

  • 9500ci, BelSTiR and the new Escort Redline should be included on that list now.

  • in the category of detectors that kind be detected by the Spectre IV RDD.

  • fucking cops

  • there not cops there gumballers!!

  • Does anybody know what kind of CB antenna he has on the trunk??

  • antennex i think it is

  • Wow! This is really amazing to see that this is still running! This car is great, He seems confident but if you notice his own alarm scarred the heck out of himself. I have read alot about the run and most of these people are wealthy.

  • team polizei is fucking good at life

  • before The M5 he had a A4 then he traded it for a S4. It got stolen. He wanted to get it back. He wanted an M5 he called a lot of dealers and he bought this M5 very sheap with like 1, 000 something miles on it. I loved it when The German Interceptor(Alex and M5) Captured the Black Gallardo :D ahah "u just got captured by a gumball car 144" The Driver is a great book

  • I first heard of this guy just this afternoon after seeing this video and i already ordered his book. Can anyone enlighten me on where he gets the money for this stuff? Like is he rich or have sponsors?

  • usually gumball or cannonball drivers are rich considering the fee to get in.

  • His dad has a American/European(I think) car rental company, which Alex was the head after his fathers death. Plus he won some money winning the Gumball and Bullrun and stuff.

  • There are no cash prizes for the Gumball or Bullrun. They are just road rally events that you pay to be apart of. There is no prize money involved

  • when you read the book, you'll see. he inherited a business renting euro cars from his parents

  • Isn't it highly illegal to have Red and Blue lights like Police, if you're NOT the Police? Just to break a record, for transcontinental driving?

  • i thought it was extremly illegal. Your not even aloud to have blue neon anymore!(UK)- because when u look back apparently everyone thinks its a police car coming. His car MUST be illegal especially with that sound kit.

  • Where is the rocket launcher ?

  • ROFL.!

  • You guys should read his book 'The Driver'. It is real good, real hot. He had airplanes lookin for cops. Awesome.

  • @IntegratedConcern where can i get his book?

  • @IntegratedConcern sorry i dont read! LOL

  • @IntegratedConcern

im reading it now, which is why im watching the vids.

im only at the 2003 race and enjoying it very much.

  • @IntegratedConcern Are you Serious? This person in the BMW is a Law Enforcement/Ex-Military officer. He has a badge and everything. If he was pulled over like that he would be arrested for impersonating an officer, if he was not part of the law enforcement community. Especially with NYC plates. Plus he speaks like law enforcement in my opinion.

  • @chocolatewheelchair

You're a moron, Alex is not a cop nor has he ever been. He's been arrested for impersonating a cop before. However all of the stuff you see is German. As he dresses as a German police officer. Hence team Polizei.

  • @chocolatewheelchair cops are dumb.

  • this car was at my shop wednesday, i paid no attention to it cuz of my ignorance of his accomplishment

  • thats great!

  • Screw the cops...

    but nice car guys :D

  • did they ever make a movie of this.. i know they did of the original 32 hours 7 muin...

  • they are making a movie called 32hrs7 mins which includes documentary on his record breaking attempt also

  • is the robocop car!

  • As I was watching that thing, I was thinking to myself, "Man, this looks like a great car to outrun the cops!" And then I saw the ending part. Very cool!! If all of the cops had these cars, high speed chases should end fast.

  • this car is better then the 7-series, Z3, and Z8 James Bond used combined!

  • This guy is some type of twisted james Bond in the making. Phat setup although he is stretching it a bit with all those gizmos.

  • so what exactly do all those scanners detect?

  • police activity in the area and all police communications in the area

  • lol there is absolutly no way to get caught in this car!

  • LOL, you can see him trying hard to remember all the shit he's done to it.

  • Fucking phenomenal. Where does this guy get his money?

  • Believe it or not, the rental car business (now speaking engagements).

  • The police lights and blaring sound was crazy! I have a 530i and drove it 140 but for less than a minute...these guys avg 90 the whole 32 hrs, that is INSANE!!

  • Nice!!!

  • Alex Roy is a cool dude i got to talk to him @ the NYC auto show 08. 31 hours & 7 mins is crazy. every mod on and in his car was well worth every penny spent. A+ for the fuel cell More MPG . its the nicest e39 ive ever seen

  • tasteful modifications.5 stars.

  • anybody know where I might be able to purchase those Whelen strobe lights and led's for my car? I wana get them too! lol

  • google search and you can purchase them from anywhere

  • cool liscence plate INPOL144

  • HOLY CRAP that is soo sick

  • mechanical masterpiece! 5 stars

  • if you use a plane thats kind of cheating IMO

  • nope..there were never rules in this cross country race

  • except that its a car race...ie you need to use a car. otherwise you could just board a nonstop flight and win in like 7 hours

  • im reading his book right now. that is one sweet car

  • if you close your eyes, he sounds like Jack BLack

  • he should put all of that into the new M5....

  • Ha he would have to fill up every 200 odd miles !

  • umm, so they can go across the US in under 32 hours a 7 minutes, by doing well in excess of the speed limit, without getting stopped by the cops.

  • and they did it too. beat the record by a couple hours.

  • they did it in 31hrs 4mins! amazing stuff

  • Alex said on Letterman's :"5 and a half stops"

  • You wanna make sure you can hear all possiblt police reports looking for you....I don't think he cared about his interior unless it was to help him reach his goal of crossing the country in less than 32hours 7 minutes

  • yeah for sure, i wouldn't care what my interior looked liked as long as i could listen in.

  • I can tell you that that many scanners in a 96 Ford Taurus makes the interior look a lot better. ;) In my opinion, you could never have enough scanners. Ideally, two trunking scanners, two DIGITAL trunking scanners and two analog scanners (one having dual watch. Land mobile radios work too) I also prefer radar protection on all four sides of the vehicle, primarily on the back since you don't see a lot back there. One gps for navigation and one gps for police postions. A navigator helps a lot!

  • Can someone verify something for me? When he made his record run, it shows they only stopped for gas 2 times. The first time was in El Reno, OK which is almost 1500 miles from where they began. The problem I have is they filled up at they pumped 34.606 gallons of fuel in, and given the theory they began with a full tank, they would've gotten close to 43 MPG! I don't see how they got that good of MPG considering their average speed was 90 MPH. Anyone have any answers or speculations?

  • they actually stopped for fuel 4.3 times and had an average MPG of 19mpg. Read the Wired Magazine article of his cross country juornal and look at the images on the side..all the information is there

  • 4.3 times... surely thats just 5 times, as u can't really only partially stop...

  • when you are being that specific with the time you have to make the gas stop you can be that specific. Saying just 5 times means a it was 5 full 5 minute gas stops.

  • what model of blinder laser jammer does he use?

  • Blinder M25 Xtreme

  • Actually this vehicle the BWM 144a has a Blinder M40 2 heads up front and 2 heads in the rear.

  • do not forget the old 2002 turbo.....170hp

  • I would rather want the M1 procar lol

  • I want this car. so much.

  • Sweet ride, sweet set-up.

He's definitely leaving no stone unturned and making sure he's got everything he needs.

    Pure professionalism.

  • That's not professionalism, that's just pure fun! lol

  • touche

  • holy fuck. CB radio scanners and jammers!

  • oh, i thought all BMW m series was twin turbo straight six...

well, i know for a fact, that roy's bimmer has a turbo.

  • you thought wrong. and this doesn't have any, monkeyboy.

  • how do you know that this car doesn't have any turbo? i read the wired mag article, and it described that there was a turbocharger spooling up as he was punching it down the highway.

  • Haha, dude, don't dig yourself any deeper.

I've met Alex and seen his car in person. The engine is basically stock. S65, which is a NA V8.

  • really? v8? i thought that bimmers that old all had straight 6's...

  • Well, this isn't that old. It was the first M5 to have a V8, all the ones before it had I6's. And I was wrong about the engine, it is the S62 not the S65. The S65 is the V8 in the new M3.

  • Also, that thing in the wired magazine was a typo, they mention it at the end I think.

  • the gadgets are so he doesn't get pulled over...And he made it across the US(2,800mile) in 31hours 4minutes...thats impressive. Lets see a extreme modified car do the same

  • im sure he'd gladly buy them all again. he is president of a worldwide rent a car company

  • "all that for a stock set up"

don't really understand what you mean by that one.

  • drdouche - case and point - a puss commenting on what he does nat and can not own.

  • listen here im not a rich person is there any thing cheaper. damn might as well join a motorcycle crew for free and get in to trouble with cops and gangs.

  • The AKA Rally is $3,250 for you an your co-driver...It's one of the cheapest full length rallies

  • I H8 roy love the M5

  • how do you join a gumball or race team?

  • you pay the $120,000 admission price

  • bla bla bla radar bla bla bla scanner bla bl bla scanner bl bla bla scanner blabla bla jammer..wow

imagine a world where police cant stop you for speeding

  • imagined

  • Gimme the stats on that i want to compare it to mine, the only thing i noticed is my brake disks are better

  • do a google search for polizei 144 and you will go to his website where he explains his car...He pretty much goes through all his modifications in this video though

  • what does he mean fuel cell capasity?????????

  • Fuel cell = gas tank.

He's got an extra 16 gallon fuel tank in the trunk.

  • damm did not know that you will never have to fill up then.

  • Sorry but they will need 2.15 gas stops because the current set-up required 4.3 gas stops

  • i live in palisdades!

    NY to palisades

  • the lights are by far the most badass aftermarket part in this car, but im surprised a turbo or high compression heads werent added

  • waste gas....You only need to average 90 to beat the recrod you don't need a rocket engine just something that can maintain 100-130mph for a good 30hours straight

  • Your so dumb...let me ask you how many times you ran in the GB3K? yeah thats what i thought...noob

  • Are you refering to me or hockeydude? GB3k is way to over prices I perfer rallies that I can afford like the AKA or New England Rally

  • The Gumball 300 isn't overpriced, it's just that you can't afford it. It's not made for the average street racer.

  • $120,000 for a 7 day vacation Is way over priced when other rallies offer the same thing for just $10-15,000...I ain't a street racer. I drive a car modified(radar detector, laser jammers, police scanners and a cb) for long distance highway cruises not race at redlights or highyway rolls; Just to cruise 400miles at an average speed of 85mph.

  • robm425 is right what you need is a car that can run at around 100 mph for 30 hours straight without breaking down and at the same time get respectable gas mileage. the M5 is a good car for this but i think the 530i would be a better choice but that M5 is sick

  • turbos are stock on M5's...

  • no M5 has ever come with a stock turbo. Ever.

  • You are wrong. The only BMW's with turbos stock is the new 135i/335i. I can't think of any others, maybe someone else can. I do know that no M-car has ever had a turbo.
