man that sure liked to me like it could have still caught the liver.... that thing died..... done that with deer.... know they r dead but lose blood completely..... sucks
Bad luck. You'll learn from this and do better in future. Don't stress, we,ve all made poor shots and had unrecovered game. Thanks for sharing. Could you let us know what gear you're using.
@RisingSunOutdoors the main reaon you didnt penetrate was that youre arrow is much too light. same thing happened to me, now i shoot 500 gr. arrows. with a 50# curve you'll want to shoot an arrow somewhere in tha weight range for best penetration.
that hit was in no mans land. A hog's vitals are low. They have a huge gap below their spine that has no arteries or vitals so even if you would have gotten a pass through, you would not have found that hog.
That is what I was thinking, I found him a few weeks later. I got enough penetration to do the job, but I was not able to locate him after the shot. He was laying about 50 yards away and under a cedar tree.
Why would put music. Just horrible.

@barreltrollololol your right that was the worst music to use...Thanks.
At the time I thought it was the thing to do, it was the trend for video clips.

Lol,looks like your hunting on a farm

when hunting hogs, there is a law: Always aim lower. The hogs always get down to get impulse because they hear the bow before the arrow hits.

@huddo0312 Using a 50lb recurve with 29" carbon arrows and 100 gr. Magnus Buzzcut broadhead.
Just hit him a little higher than I wanted...

You girls who post the vids would do better to leave off the music. It's a hunting videi and not a damn expose of your music. Good vid though.

@58landman Don't like the music huh?
Okay next time no music :)

I cheer for your honesty.
Showing that not all shots are dead center.
Next time better.
And next time search for a boar without a few cow bodyguards ;)

it looked like it stoped on its rib
damoAR34 1 year ago
unless you are shooting with very low poundage then you must've hit a rib because the arrow didn't get much penetration.
Edrox5000 2 years ago
ooh must've hit a rib dead on with recurve or longbow, anything in that zone will do :-) love it good shooting

what is the music
shariotoflove 2 years ago
@shariotoflove I don't remember, I usually go to a couple royalty free sites and get the music that the creator lets anyone use for free.

Well done for not hitting any of the cattle! That'd have been troublesome!
TheAzza1121 2 years ago
They cows were safe! :)
RisingSunOutdoors 2 years ago
wow that's a hard animal, the arrow hardly penetrated into his body!!good shot though!
MaMoral88 2 years ago
their hide is basically reinforced on the shoulders to keep them from getting badly cut by the tusks of other hogs.

what wheight do you shoot and what kind of broadhead do yow use? recurve bows need heavy arrows to achieve good penetration

it's all about shot placement to put em down quick

Hey it happened's but i believe he has died. But hey that is part of the hunt. Excellent job man. I gave you a 5 point.

your videos make me want to go hunt something with a bow
sandmansamperson 3 years ago
Looked like minimal penetration. Did you happened to find the arrow broken off anywhere on your land? that pig is alive.
LordBwithU 3 years ago
He hit the arrow in one of the cows legs and it broke there. I found the arrow just a few yards past that. a couple of weeks later I found him.
RisingSunOutdoors 3 years ago
haha and they say cows are stupid!! =p
cardonaman 3 years ago
Look to me you had enough penetration just those hogs are so tough. Good shot, and to bad you didn't get to recover the pig. Keep it up.
tibbsd97 3 years ago
nice hunt but i thing you hit a sholder bone because you got very poor penetrationg i shot a deer and the same thing happend.

ya they got some serious skin right there and their ribs are thick as hell i had to shoot one 3 times with my 480 ruger to him down their no joke
sphinkterclinch87 3 years ago
apparently those cows love that "power pig scent" as well!
telesniper2 3 years ago
Yeah, I think that pig was bullying the cows and they drew him in to me.
RisingSunOutdoors 3 years ago
i saw the shot and man it didnt penetrate at all. must have hit a shoulder bone?
speernfish 3 years ago
I thought it was funny how the cows musta known what was up. I couldnt help but feel they kept getting out of the way of that pig and you.
GreenManalichi 3 years ago 2
The cattle know when I am in the blind and are always looking in the window. They saw me getting ready for the shot...
