  • Shifter is shaking because the driver is banging on the rev limiter on purpose rather than shifting gears and losing time. Anyone here actually ever track a car? All these comments are from couch dreamers.

  • why was he in 4th gear for the final straight? he could have easily gotten to high 5th gear.

  • nice gear lever !! is it shakeweight?? LMAO !!

  • I love how the gear shifter shakes whe he goes in the high RPM. :P

  • was he in 4th(at rev limit) on the final straight?

  • @spyzox Thats what I was wondering too, cause the ACR has a top speed of 205 mph and I doubt he could get to that on the straight so it shouldn't be hitting the rev limiter

  • what an incredible rev limiter

  • To everyone complaining about not shifting:

This car has a proper manual that you need to heel and toe. if it were tiptronic, he'd probably shift more often because its hella easy. Pressing the clutch and shifting would take too long.

  • Im a Ford truck boy myself, but the boys over there at Dodge did well with this beast

  • For sure the driver is american.... someone should tell him what is the gearshift

  • @Dante1969 He isn't american he is Dutch, it is Tom Coronel. I think he uses the rev limiter because changing gear is slower.

    2) 6:55 Radical SR8

    3) 7:11.5 Gumpert Apollo Speed

    4) 7:20 Lexus LFA

    5) 7:22.1 Viper ACR

    6) 7:24.3 Maserati MC12

    7) 7:24.7 Pagani Zonda F Clubsport

    8) 7:25.3 Ferrari Enzo

    9) 7:26.4 Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1

    10) 7:26.7 Nissan GT-R

  • is there a video of the Lexus getting that time

  • @hsieh811 Lexus LFA is 7:38.. ran by Sport Auto. And first two cars are street legal in the UK only, hence why no one recognizes their times. Gumpert is now officially the fastest. You are also missing the '11 GT2 RS and Donkervoort D8 RS(which i think is only street legal in Netherlands, if at all).

  • Great driver, but I'm really not sure why he is hitting the rev limiter, there is NEVER a good reason to do this other then to deliberately blow a lap.

  • just a gear that's too short that's all. not an efficient tune.

  • @vansoth sometimes he does in indeed, before a corner it is logical because in the time he got a gear up, he needs to change down again.

  • if they had a better driver the time would quite a bit better

  • who would you suggest? Tom is one of the best drivers in the world... Check out his racing history.

He only does 4 laps in the car

  • did anyone else notice that he missed 3rd gear twice. once at 2:51 and once at 7:19? GT4 makes the entrance to the karrussel a lot smoother than it really is.

  • ACR>ZR1

Anyone know the numbers for GTS on this track?

  • Supposedly 8:10

  • Where did u hear that it is 8:10?

  • I wiki'd it which is why I said supposedly, but after looking a little bit more at reliable sites, everywhere is posting 8:10. Note, it's under Chrylser Viper instead of Dodge Viper

  • Anyone else notice the silly gear lever flopping around during accel like a fish on a frying pan?

  • that is from hitting on the rev limiter

  • Nürburgring forever !!!

  • the gear ratio it's no way near suitable for this track! and the gear box looks like it's from a old tractor.

  • right...this is the fastest production car in the world going around the Nurby and they don't know what they are doing, but you do. the gear limiter actually was very well suited for the corners even though sometimes the car was on limiter for about 1 second. Don't think could have done much of a difference, but still, this is a PRODUCTION car. Would take the ZR1 for this, anytime though ;)

  • Comment removed

  • damn you're right! if they had the right gear ratio....ok im going to stop joking there...they know how the gear ratio should be, it happens to have made it the quickest car around the track...they are from the SRT department they know how to build a sports car...and you are?? olasebastian? alllright..

  • I would've like to see the speed numbers as well

  • got a question can you buy like carbon fiber for the inside like the dash the panel and all

    that.

  • Yes, several Viper owners have done so already.

  • Ok I constantly hear arguments about which car is better the GTR the ZR1 or the ACR now my question is can you really take all the different time seriously? If you want good times why not just use the same driver for every vehicle, someone who know the track better then anyone else. As for which car is better its a matter of opinion, ZR1 is great if you like vettes, ACR is great if you want a fast as hell track car. and the GTR is great for everyday use with a little kick here and there.

  • I kind of agree with what you're saying, try to make it as equal as possible, right? The problem is the cars drive differently from one another so that one driver would get full pontential out of one car but not another.

  • i still think tom coronel knows what he's doing more than all the internet racing drivers posting here.

  • @sancus123

Hear hear. But I have to admit I like beeing able to drive the same car on the same course now since GT5 got published weeks ago. I love this car!

  • No matter if the car was geared for the ring, why did he not changed the gears?? Especialy on the strait "döttinger Höhe"? he let the engine running into the limiter in 4th(!) gear without changing into fith!. The Viper has a six-speed box...! Beside this: i'm 47 years and drove the ring with my Porsche 911 and with my Lotus several times. They are also not geared to this track, but I never hit the limiter, I changed gears!!!

  • you own and care about your car. they don't and don't. you miss the braking point shifting up for half a second and then right back down. there is way too much pedal play at the end of the straights, and i bet his backend came loose more than once when he went into a lower gear. i did want to shoot him at one point though for not shifting, that straight...

  • Wow , everybody is hot on the rev limiter issue. I'm fairly sure the Engineers at Dodge didn't gear the car for the Ring. That would technically make it non-stock ,eh. Considering there was only 1 ACR and one driver I find it hard to find credence, in any comment about Tom's driving, well except from anyone under 30, who is in driving school.

The driving school you are sent to for being a shitty driver. WTF this is youtube (where the men are men and so are some of the women).

  • Actually they did gear the car for the ring, the car made 2 laps which were 7:42, and then 7:35. SRT then changed the suspension and aerodynamics, following coronels counseilling. The car was modified for the track, so who knows if they were even running street tires. The time is cheated, as they start timing after the pit lane ends, and end timing about 100 meters before where the pit lane ends.

  • For the timing, all cars are tested that way. I first noticed it in the Nissan GTR video when I watched it for the first time

  • and your source of infro is???

  • i believe you have to have be legal roadcar , as needed in germany.

    o drive on there.

    So no slicks etc.

  • There is no doubting Tom Coronel's ability, 4 laps to get down to that time is impressive. As for the gear change issue, firstly the gearbox is obstructive to use, look at the time to shift across the gate, Secondly a car is at its most stable when under power, a mis shift into a corner before the apex will result in lost speed. The mark of a good racing driver is to be able to drive round a problem. How fast would the car go with a better gearbox ? 10 seconds anyone ?

  • 10 works, maybe more. Above Mikew995 said the car was geared for the track (Dodge says the gear was stock), anyway I think the ACR has a whole lot left. That car thunders torque and I assume it is hard to keep the nose forward. I think Tom did a great job all things considered.

  • It is probably quite an engineering compromise, heavy engine ( I am not sure of the percentage of engine weight past the front axle ?) A lot of torque, makes for hardwork, both for the driver and the engineers let alone the tires.

  • Lots of magical front end numbers. I don't know the balance numbers. The V-10 is actually light for it's volume The ZR-1 engine is 70 lbs lighter?? I agree that Coronel did a good job I think as with any driver seat time would improve lap time. I think the may have been a swan song for Chrysler. I can't wait for the next round. The ring is about performance not luxury, The losers all whine about seats and mirrors and shit but we all know where they come from...

  • this from an 16 year old who gets a bonner when his mommies honda takes a corner at 30mph. tell me little boy have you ever pulled 1+g let alone .5g?

  • well im 17 im in a local racing school and i drive a s2000 since insurance is a bitch, youre a 32 year old virgin who lives in your moms basement and you get boners from looking at gay porn

  • spoken like a true homo

  • lol youre the homo

  • ever heard of downforce noob???

  • i saw 1.97 pop up on a light corner, if it was a hairpin i would believe it but c'mon. it might be a small mistake on their part

  • Liers??

  • imagine this car with taller 2nd/3rd gear and shorter 5th, no limiter on corners and it can go faster than 150 mph on main straight, thats easily getting under 7:20, and then imagine it with a sequential manual box.

  • Being in the passenger seat of that would be scarier than any roller coaster... Assuming it had a passenger seat...

  • are you kidding me? I would give my left arm to be in that car...haha

  • I never said I wouldn't wanna be there! I would give my left leg!

  • he goes into the rev limiter because the car doesnt shift properly, you can tell because when he tries to shift up, most of the times the car wont gear up. therefore he probably prefers to be in the limiter for a few secs rather than miss shifting.

Tom can drive better than any of you, so dont act as if you know how to do this better ;)

  • The car shifts fine, but he doesn't want to waste time shifting up just before the corner only to downshift again. It does save time, although said to hear the Enigne bang the rev like that.

  • Tom isn't very clever when he drove the long straight all the time in the revlimiter in fourth gear.

  • I guess gear ratio was set to that.

  • Yup, i agree!

Finally someone who talks properly, thx bro!

  • Its like PS2 lol

  • shit when that thing revs that whole car's shakin !

  • gear box was, cuz hes pusshin it red line over rev

  • here's one for you: Edo Competition Porsche 996 GT2 driven by Patrick Simons: 7:15,63

  • Patrick Simon sorry

  • Yeah, but that`s not a production sports car like the ACR. It`s a highly souped up 996 with basically no interior.

  • Its not the drivers fault its the long throw in the shifter. I know I own a 96 GTS TT.

  • One more comment then I'll be quiet. Think how fast a viper of a corvette would be with a Sequential manual gearbox?

  • How about shifting out of 4Th on the long strait into 5Th gear, it's probably worth at least 20 miles per hour.

  • I'll tell Tom, he probably doesn't know how to properly drive a car -.-.

Think before you post comments please?

  • not with much drag, if there was any crosswind, it would just slow down, its going 150 mph, and on that straight it would run out of room before it got to 160.

  • great car, great driver! (Tom Coronel, WTCC privateer in Seat Leon)

  • Bitch is pulling over 1200lbs of downforce. WTF, its a monster XD

  • Yep, it's official... Shmette < Viper on the track AND the street!!

  • Nope, not the street. The viper, being a race car, drives like shit on the street, while the ZR1 is much more livable.

    BUT WHO CARES! :DDD

  • I just drove one on the street and it's very livable with the Michelin Sport Cups.

    Congrats SRT Engineers!

  • Macedo MotorSports ftw! =)

  • lol, the engineers at chevy put run crap f1s on their z06 "track car" and they make more noise than those?!

  • TopGear needs to get ahold of one of these, so Clarkson and most everyone else over there can relize wtf is up.

  • well done dodge boys. its time for me to make a deposit for that car..

  • OK !

    Please run a Ring .

  • much better vid...I like the stats.
