This collection has a huge lack of titles:...

eg: sonic cd, knuckles chaotix, segasonic, master system titles, etc...

Its emulation is not poor, but not so good either:

It has very high requirements to run to PC, it is laggy sometimes and causing several sound problems...

The only reason to waste your money for it is the rare 'Extras' and the "good music" in the menu.

Free emulators like K.Fusion & Gens (for PC) are almost perfect and compared to this "official junk" are like god-made...

Same on the ps2 version. I always kind of hear some beep when listening to the games music. I beat sonic two with 0 cheats no lie. I beat sonic 3 the same. THEN i fooled around. :D Okay. Sonic 3 level select difficulty= SO FUCKING HARD! I try it like 20-30 times and still dont get it. Im gonna rip my balls out if i fail more.

@StephenAlexWalker the game gear versions have smaller screen sizes than the master system versions making it harder than it should be to play the games. try it on an emulator and you'll see the difference.

The gamecube version was released 2 years earlier from the PlayStation 2 and Xbox collection. Sega has made some changes in the extras videos, and added a few games on the new ones. This is the reason for the name Plus, because that is a update from the original (gamecube version). Not a problem of memory space...

I think that Gamecube version did not have that many games on it because the disc is so small that it doesn't have enough memory space to fit anything else. Ex.: Cars: The Video Game for the gamecube (I saw a small article in a video game magazine about a mysterious code. I tried it out and nothing happened because the gamecube disc did not have enough memory to put a certain feature in the game).

I'm going to break this down...

Sonic Mega Collection (GC) has EVERY, and I mean EVERY Genesis Sonic game, except Sonic CD. Mega Collection + (the one in this video (XBOX + PS2) has a save feature, and a bunch of game gear games. Sonic Gems collection for the GC (and ps2 if you live in europe) has Sonic CD and the game gear games that weren't in Mega Collection +, aswell as a Saturn Game and an arcade game.

Your best bet is to buy a PS2 and get Mega Collection + and Gems Collection

Be aware that PS2 Gems Collection's Sonic CD has two soundtracks, the original japanese/european one, and the American one.

If you want to play the game with the JP/EU soundtrack, you'll have to set your system to japanese.

I unlocked every game in the GC version in about an hour and a half.

I opened each of the standard games 20 times(click to play game, let it log, go back to menu, go down to the next game and repeat). I had a Sonic 2 battle save files so that unlocked Flicky... then I opened each of the unlocked games 30 times.

If you're just really fast and have the patience, it can be done in less than an hour.

I'm still trying to unlock Comix Zone and the others, it said I had to have a Sonic Heroes game saved or accumulate over 30 hours of game time, which I have done over the past two years!!!!

Meanbean Machine - 11:21:08 and over 3 hours of Game Gear play.....now I'm thinking, do I have to get over 30 hours for Genesis & GG or each game???

Knuckles In Sonic 2 - Play Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball 20 times each.

Sonic 3 And Knuckles - Play Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles 20 times each.

Flicky - Play Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine 30 times.

Ristar - Play Blue Sphere, Knuckles In Sonic 2, Sonic 3 And Knuckles, and Flicky 30 times each. you dont need to "play" them you just need to go into the game and exit that amount of times

Which version of Sonic Megacollection PLUS looks better graphicly? The one for PS2 or Xbox? I haven't seen this collection on PC, which would be neat to have too. I have the PS2 version which looks pretty good when compared to the original games. And yes i know the games aren't going to look perfect since afterall the collection disc is an emulation of the actual games.

you dont unlock anything by beating the game. you unlock games by playing (by that i mean exiting after the sega logo) other games 30 times. hints by playing a game for 3 hours.
