love the pajero! i had a 1997 4door and took it in to the wadi rum desert in Jordan for some off roading and camping. It out performed the brand new pajeros and landcrusers that my friends were driving! Mine was the last vehicle that needed the air presser in the tires lowered to go through the deep sand!
It is easy to flip at high speeds 160km/h and over is dangerous, it is the most stolen vehicle in my country one of my Monteros got stolen (apperently is the easiest vechicle to be stolen... lojack was given away free by insurance companies due to the amount of Monteros that was being stolen)... and last Ive owned a buch of japanese SUV and when it comes to comfort, I can't get my butt of my Mercedes.. but then again every type of vehicle has its uses
any car that is high above the ground would have its center of gravity higher than normal cars which makes it easier to flip.. but I tried my pajero/montero at high speeds and it does handle great on highways.
for half what I would pay for a mercedes .. I enjoy the comfort and reliabity of a real off road car. ;-)

it does the job on highways don't get me wrong..but if you go over 160km/h..there's where you feel the difference, german cars are really aerodynamic, you dont feel the air resistance as much (nor the noise,nor the little turns you might give to avoid a hole or such) therefore, feel much more confident at high speeds...problem with montero is that at high speeds if you are in the need of make a "quick move"then theres the chance you might flight,but in a straight line almost any vehicle feels ok

It also has clearly better handling than those on the road. Merc handles better than monty on road, but it is much much worse offroad. You can't get all in the same vehicle. If you want to go fast, go for merc, but I dont understand people that buy a SUV for fast driving. Sports cars are for that. ;)

No, im just sayin that the fj gets better mileage than the montero/pajero. Cuz i have an 02 montero limited and it doesn't get good city mpg. But highway mpg is kinda good. And engine size sometimes doesn't matter most of the time cuz there are some V8 suvs that gets better mileage than an suv with a V6 engine right???
G-Class is more suitable for this kind of places.
