Granted part of his trajectory was falling, but that trajectory was initiated by a decision making process that should have predicted the falling scenario inevitably attached to such an endeavor, and at least he should have tried to calculate the landing zone.

My point is, if he had landed in the water, it would have been a shitty YouTube video that nobody would ever have watched.
