I have no doubt that Gentle George Laraque is a gentlemen and he seems like a really nice guy too. It's just a little silly to be so polite in the NHL - George, when he played for the Habs, seem to completely forget his role. He thought he could coast by on his reputation alone - big mistake. Enforcers aren't in the league to 'enforce' a code... they are there to protect their players, keep opponents honest, and change momentum in games. George ended badly in Montreal because he forgot this.

I met Laraque several times when he was in Edmonton. He is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Very polite and friendly. Once he even bought my friends and I 30 shots at the bar just because I complimented him. He also did a ton of charity and volunteer work in the community. The guy is pure class.

Of the players i've met the nicest and most out going believe it or not was the Matt Cooke, i was at a Canucks practice for my birthday in Boston, he was so nice that he got me skates out of the boston supply closet and had a shootout comp on Cloutier after their practice was over.
