Okay, people, if the Potara earrings are stronger, why does Gogeta have a lightning aura around him? Goku even says on the show that the Fusion technique is stronger, but its one drawback is the time limit. So if this fight takes under 30 minutes (maybe 20 because of their strength), Gogeta wins easily. Plus, it's not like they can't just fuse again. It takes all of 5 seconds.

Of course, the fusion technique is weaker than the Potara. As said by Goku, the fusion technique only lasts for 30 mins meaning that power decreases as time passes. The fusion technique is only good if the two people who fused finish off their enemy right away (Movie 12 Ending). The Potara fusion is more powerful because the people who fused stay together forever and power is basically unlimited. Just remember, Goku & Vegeta fool around too much as one person lol. This is only my opinion though.

Vegito is far stronger then Gogeta. Like some others have already it was revieled that the earrings provide a perfect fusion wile the other does not. This results in a obsurd power gap.

Essentualy Non-SSJ Vegito is far stronger then that of SSJ3 Goku. Hell, In Budokai 3 (arguably the best DBZ game ever made) SSJ1 Vegito is only slightly less powerful then SSJ4 Gogeta. That would mean that if Vegito were to go SSJ2 (which he most cirtainly could do if he wanted) he would be astronomicly stronger

GT is non canon. so therefore, even if he was real, it would still be vegito. because of a number of reason: Gogeta would de-fuse after a few mins, Vegito used the potara earrings which apparently is much stronger if the two people are rivalled. (which they are) and not to mention vegito showed he wasn't even fighting his hardest when fighting majin buu. this would most likely mean that fi he did use all of his power, he would top gogeta in the first 30 seconds... in my theory at least.

@globodog its unknown how much power the rivalry gives them or whether gogeta gets it too. goku does lower his power but once fused, theres no need to synchronise the power so gogeta can use gokus full power whenever he wants. no need to supress it. gogeta may not maintain it as long but it doesnt mean vegettos stronger, just longer lasting.
