@whm3 there won't, actually alot of people don't that Vince had a very bad n rough upbringing with his family especially his abusive dad and step dad 2 so yea he nva talking about those thing that would make a BTR REAL shoot video and him an actually real success story compared to his now so SMH idk I wish that 2 so....???
"I've been a huge wrestling fan for a quarter century, but I have enough perspective to know that, after all, it's just pro wrestling."
I began watching wrestling in 1970 and stopped watching it in the early 90's because it has gotten way too scripted and wrestlers would come in with fancy costumes, bandanas,....
Guys like The "Original" Sheik, John Tolos, Killer Kowalski,......, they would draw quarts of blood from their opponents. You don't see that anymore in today's pro wrestling.
You are a very old school guy if you didn't like wrestling at it's peak in the late 90's and early 2000's. And you can't help if the wrestlers came out with fancy clothes, people are not gonna wear 70's clothes if it's not the 70's anymore. Someone would look silly if they wore 70's clothes these days, people wear with what's with the times.
"I can get really mad." Yeah Bob! Just ask Stone Cold Steve Austin, or the Rock.
But in all honesty, interviewers like Bob Costas make me sick. They bring people on their show with only one agenda in mind. And sometimes Costas just makes me sick. He knows what's going on, the issues at hand, but he just has this pompous attitude about him. I don't know, that's just me.
Its interesting how your average joe who has a fat wife, a job he hates, no money, a shitty appartment, and bratty little kids that don't respect him take so much pleasure in calling XFL a "failure"
@spooksyaboy10 it was just a basic thing. they had the name first so there was no case for vince really, supose a re branding helped him in a way it captured a new audience even if it wrecked wrestling
@spooksyaboy10 Yes. But it was the WWWF back then, not WWF, unfortunately. World Wildlife Fund won based solely on how long they'd been using the initials. The whole thing only became an issue because of internet searches pointing to the wrong organization.
@spooksyaboy10 It was the World Wide Wrestling Federation when Vince Sr. owned it. Vince Jr. eliminated the extra 'W' I think as a marketing thing. WWF flows off the tongue much better than WWWF!
@spooksyaboy10 personally I think the World Wildlife Foundation should have had their case thrown out because they had what 10-15 years to sue the World Wrestling Federation but no they wait until Vince bought out WCW and became a multi-billion dollar company. Copyrights my ass, it was plain and simple greed.
@spooksyaboy10 Because Wildlife fund had the upper hand, they were founded before THE! wwf. and because of all the media scrutiny vince had at the time.
@spooksyaboy10 because they told wwf to stop using the name wwf back when they changed the name in 1979 and the didn't so the sued them and the judge sided with the wildlife fund
@spooksyaboy10 Simple: Vince made a deal with the World Wildlife Fund in the 1980s and broke that deal in the 1990s. The judge looks at that agreement they made, sees Vince broke his deal, and awards full rights to the trademark to the Wildlife Fund. It was Vince ego that beat him. Simple as that.
@spooksyaboy10 Because World Wildlife Fund had the initials WWF earlier. Remember, WWE was originally known as Capitol Wrestling, then WWWF, then it became WWF in 1979. World Wildlife Fund began in the 60s.
@AJ36sXe But what I could never understand is why they BOTH couldn't have it. There are plenty of businesses out there that share the same initials and don't go threatening to sue the others for the sole rights to those initials.
@PlayingWithMahWii I honestly have no legit idea why they did it, however I have heard a rumor. It was that the product that Vince was putting out there was giving the animal company a bad name, but I don't know the truth to that.
You forgot to add being anti-steroid, being obsessed with those taking steroids, and having your life revolve around steroids. People who brag about training 'natural' are much more annoying than those taking steroids.
Vince had it right. He said that he knew what we wanted more than we did and he was damn right. When he was making the show according to what he knew we wanted, we had the Golden Age and Attitude Era! Now he's giving us what we thought we wanted, through the constant bitching of mothers and anti violence advocates, we are forced to watch this PG era bullshit. Back then there was nudity, violence, swearing and hardcore wrestling. Nowadays they would censor a loud fart! Get the "F" BACK!!!
@Darkstar27100 if u get ur info correct......neither his son NOR his daughter is taking over. hhh is taking over. vince said it himself....thats why after wm27 he not gona be doing anymore wrestling-maybe here & there but he's damn near running the industry now & then its not just 1 guy, u gota think of all the talent, workers, sponsorships, merchandise, movies, all the backstage guys, all the viewers, all the planning etc. thats what makes the $ & the success. that business will never fall.
I hate arrogant media types like Bob Costas who have never achieved ANYTHING of significance in this world sitting there acting like they're smarter than people who actually have.
Vince McMahon is the man he is a business genius who cares if the WWE no longer shows blood ect their the biggest pro wrestling company and make a lot of money plus you get to see more wrestling and the Nexus and the Corre are the only good thing in WWE as of now
I have never seen this side of bob costas. It's one thing to be a good reporter and ask the "hard" questions but to deliberately degrade someone on a passionate statement at the end like he did "congradulations hahahaha" and for that not to be at least edited out is beyond me. I think mcmahon is speaking with integrity and costas made a complete asshole out of himself. I haven't seen the rest yet but this clouds my judgement of him perhaps from now on including his football stuff sunday nights.
vince knew that kind of attitude towards the interviewer would get rating and reactions. he WAS a genius. he KNEW that controversy would equal ratings.
@BenMasterz23 I think its the Rock. He certainly sold more stuff when he was in WWE than anyone else, I don't think anyone topped that ever since, perhaps Cena when he's the rapper. Technically Austin's a better wrestler but in a bigger picture, Rock gave more business to the WWE.
No, even if the XFL was the best product the media had doomed it from the start. No big player would have been allowed to sign, without them risking the wrath of Sports illustrated berating them. The NFL is a powerful sports lobby who has the media wrapped around it to protect its interests. Also the XFL made two mistakes that were unforgivable. 1: They put it on Primetime TV; 2: They did not make it different enough so it could coexist with the NFL (like Arena league).
Its one thing to ask honest questions...Costas is OBVIOUSLY trying to evoke a response from Vince similiar to the first from ratings...when Vince says if he fails why not fail in a big way and Costas shakes his hand...he is BAITING Mcmahon to try and boost his ratings...he all but said this before the interview started..."people found it interesting"...in the dictionary under "douchiness in the media" Costas is there smiling
Interviewers like that guy (whom ever he is) are disgraces. He seems intelligent and aware of the issues, but he's so smug and rude that it's clear what his agenda is. What's the point of inviting someone to your show if you're going to beat them over the head with your points rather than INTERVIEWING? I guess it makes for good tv in some markets.
@vincentrich Yeah, I hate guys like that. He's not even intelligent which you are too kinds to label him. Intelligence without grace is not intelligence at all.
@vincentrich "that guy (whom ever he is)"? That's Bob Costas. He's probably got more worldwide face recognition than anybody in the history of pro wrestling, including Hogan, Andre, Vince, and SCSA.
I doubt that. Not only have I never heard of Bob Costas, I don't care who he is. Most people at one point or another knew and/or cared about Hulk Hogan.
@chiposse79 I've been a huge wrestling fan for a quarter century, but I have enough perspective to know that, after all, it's just pro wrestling. Most people who even know what it is think it's a farcical soap opera for guys. Hogan, Rock, and the rest are the biggest fish in the history of a very small pond.
Costas has been covering real sports for NBC for over 30 years. Comparing him to Hogan is like comparing a mediocre NFL quarterback to the best QB in the history of...your high school.
@DuhIdiot1 yet your wrong again, I guarantee you you ask people ages 8-55 who is hulk hogan and who is bob costas I guarantee you that more than 50% of people will know hogan and well under 50% will know costas, why are you defending costas? He's decent at best but not considered the best like hogan is in his proffesion. smh
@chiposse79 Your "guarantee" is nothing more than a re-assertion and means nothing.
And I'm going to need you to point out to me where I'm "defending" Costas. Check my last sentence. Costas is my "mediocre NFL QB", Hogan the "best ever at a HS".
The comparison is between rasslin' and more popular, more respected human pursuits. As a parallel: between the greatest model train builder ever and the oh-so-beloved Justin Bieber, who do you think would have greater name recognition?
@DuhIdiot1 It's not a re-assertion, put your money where your mouth is and do the survey that I explained in my previous post and I will prove I am right. If you want to call costas and his career a more respectable human pursuit ok yes, but that is your opinion because wrestlers have to put up with a lot more pain and put themselves through a lot more than a broadcaster/commentator obviously. One thing I do know is that Hogan is more known worldwide and he has made more money in his career
@chiposse79 Nice. I say something and it's opinion, you say something and it's "one thing you do know". Also, when I say "respected" I actually said "respectable".
I've been in evolution/creationism debates for 25 years. Your style is old news.
@vincentrich bob costas is easily one of the most respected broadcasters today. obviously if mcmahon thought costas was being an asshole, he wouldnt have agreed to come back on his show.
The XFL failed because there was too much football within a year. I don't buy the belief that people can stomach football 24/7 AND all year round. Add to that America has a lot of other sports going on from Baseball to Basketball to Golf to Tennis and so on especially with the Olympics and the World Cup trying to get a piece of the action. It's too much for some people, I would even argue too much for viewers who watch these same sports.
@DarkReapersGrim A couple of others have said this too, but I also think he didn't make enough of an effort to separate the XFL from pro wrestling.
Whether Vince, or anyone else, wants to admit it, there is a negative stigma associated with pro wrestling. It doesn't help to be pushed 3 steps back when you're already facing an uphill battle.
he should of took the xfl to britain. it would of got more people interested in the game, would of been a success. just like Britain needs wrestling on primetime tv.
I have always admired the way vince has dealt with the media that always try to pin the blame on him for wrestlers mistakes and personal misfortunes in life. Off all the people i have seen in life he is one the few people that has made clear that every man is responsible for their own actions. WWe provided me with some of the best entertainment as a kid in the early 90s and it brings back fun memories. i hope the mcmahon family continues to keep wwe going for a long time to come.
Attitude era WWF was untouchable. It was the best wrestling the world has seen.
Today people like HHH have to much power and influence as does Orton, their is too much backstage politics and stars holding other people back. I honestly cannot see WWE surviving as PG.
yep bye 2002 the only good thing was the lesbian bits with torrie lol by then people grew up and said ''what is this shite'' and started to watch REAL sports
@Kozzy06 Don't forget it was also terrible from 93-97 or so when Pat Patterson stepped down as booker and Vince was on trial.
Also, don't understand all the Bret Hart love. WWE was terrible during Brets run as champ. Bret blames the terrible undercard during his run (which is true), but also says Hogan and WWE were so successful during Hulkamania era bc they had guys like Hart Foundation working on the undercard.......You can't have it both ways Bret......

DuhIdiot1 6 months ago
@DuhIdiot1 yet your wrong again, I guarantee you you ask people ages 8-55 who is hulk hogan and who is bob costas I guarantee you that more than 50% of people will know hogan and well under 50% will know costas, why are you defending costas? He's decent at best but not considered the best like hogan is in his proffesion. smh
chiposse79 6 months ago
@chiposse79 Your "guarantee" is nothing more than a re-assertion and means nothing.
And I'm going to need you to point out to me where I'm "defending" Costas. Check my last sentence. Costas is my "mediocre NFL QB", Hogan the "best ever at a HS".
The comparison is between rasslin' and more popular, more respected human pursuits. As a parallel: between the greatest model train builder ever and the oh-so-beloved Justin Bieber, who do you think would have greater name recognition?
DuhIdiot1 6 months ago
@DuhIdiot1 It's not a re-assertion, put your money where your mouth is and do the survey that I explained in my previous post and I will prove I am right. If you want to call costas and his career a more respectable human pursuit ok yes, but that is your opinion because wrestlers have to put up with a lot more pain and put themselves through a lot more than a broadcaster/commentator obviously. One thing I do know is that Hogan is more known worldwide and he has made more money in his career
chiposse79 6 months ago
@chiposse79 Nice. I say something and it's opinion, you say something and it's "one thing you do know". Also, when I say "respected" I actually said "respectable".
I've been in evolution/creationism debates for 25 years. Your style is old news.
DuhIdiot1 6 months ago
@vincentrich bob costas is easily one of the most respected broadcasters today. obviously if mcmahon thought costas was being an asshole, he wouldnt have agreed to come back on his show.

@scythecam costas is a smug bastard he hit that right on the head.

DarkReapersGrim 1 year ago
@DarkReapersGrim A couple of others have said this too, but I also think he didn't make enough of an effort to separate the XFL from pro wrestling.
Whether Vince, or anyone else, wants to admit it, there is a negative stigma associated with pro wrestling. It doesn't help to be pushed 3 steps back when you're already facing an uphill battle.
StuUngar 1 year ago
he should of took the xfl to britain. it would of got more people interested in the game, would of been a success. just like Britain needs wrestling on primetime tv.

Vince was a genius. WWF/E was on top of the world with the attitude era.
Today WWE is just plain terrible. Him and his daughter have ruined it.

@Kozzy06 why watch it then retard?
xxY2JLEDGENDKILLERxx 1 year ago
@Kozzy06 Don't forget it was also terrible from 93-97 or so when Pat Patterson stepped down as booker and Vince was on trial.
Also, don't understand all the Bret Hart love. WWE was terrible during Brets run as champ. Bret blames the terrible undercard during his run (which is true), but also says Hogan and WWE were so successful during Hulkamania era bc they had guys like Hart Foundation working on the undercard.......You can't have it both ways Bret......
