I remember when a ball simply couldn't get by Federer, and he was so decisive.

Now, he still has the skill, and he's still competitive with Nadal and Djokovic, but he lost so many matches to Nadal on clay that it dinged his confidence. Gradually, it seeped into his psyche even on the other surfaces until he just couldn't beat that guy anymore. Not because of the style, or because of Nadal's own greatness, but because Roger can't mentally stay in the match for more than a set or two.

Federer is a genius. He makes it seem to his opponent, that he's got the upperhand and he's attacking, then Federer just kills it, or makes a swift rhythm change with a backspin and then nails it after a couple hits. This is art in it's purest form, not a huge fan of Federer still. He's like a surgeon, I like players who play more with their passion and heart.
