i'm not proud of my country. it's done some pretty shameful things. i think its good to like the place you live and nice to feel an affinity with the people there. but i'm think it's dangerous to have to be 'proud' of your country/state, as it easily turns into jingoism. however the US is still a relatively young country so i can understand the idealism and enthusiasm but i think it's less tolerable as you're the worlds only superpower.
