This trainer obviously thought she mastered these creatures because they did what they were trained to do. Little did she know that her love of these creatures would be her fall. I've been a SeaWorld patron for as long as I can remember. I do remember seeing Dawn at almost every Shamu performance. She was a great person, and you could tell she loved her job. How many can say they died doing what they loved the most? Not so many. It's such a shame, and it's even more shameful when people put her & her SeaWorld family down. She was just an animal trainer, nothing more. Her job was to study husbandry, and that's what she did. May she rest in peace & continue to inspire!

Look at how happy she is. She was full of passion for them. If I got to spend 17 years swimming and laughing with these amazing creatures and one day i was drowned by one of them, I had a beautiful life. "Thank you for letting me swim with you" I believe when she relized he was not going to let her go, she regreted nothing

What's the cause of the bone loss, then? I'm not sure how a captive orca's anatomy would be any different than a wild one's. Plus, how come some wild caught orcas' fins flop over in time (such as Keiko AKA Free Willy, Tillikum, etc) while in captivity, but were straight when first captured?

Sorry but Dawn could have chosen another line of work. Happy animals don't kill their trainers. It took them 40 minutes to pull her out of his mouth. Orcas live shorter lives in captivity. Orcas dorsal fins slump over in captivity. Those who are truly educated about animal welfare know that her only gift of compassion was in the interest of what this poor animal could provide for her.--Ridiculous.
