  • Ubuntu would rock on this thing ;)

  • where can i buy this? and how much?

  • @rahj8786 This is the same thing - same chassis and everything - as the ExoPC. Bought at any Microsoft Store for $800, I believe is the price.

  • dude buy this not mac...Apple is absolutly terible..pc has no problems unless your a retard that does not no how to defrag. apple bad microsoft good. its funny how apple thinks thier itouch is a gaming platform..psp beats it hard core. im taking hacked wise. apple is shit hacked. and to get free stuff on ipad you need jailbreak. slate on win 7 is pre hacked for you lol.fucking apple fans save some money and get a pc

  • Windows 7 Embedded Compact Standard Edition is sweet, it has a very good battery length, specially on netbooks, my little Gateway can last up to 4.5 hours in High Performance; 6 hours in balanced and 9 hours in power saver using Flash (the program itself). Fast and very stable...

  • @bromleylaerchenheim i would take 10 minutes of excitement over 10 minutes of battery life on a lagging tablet. and wait until you see ipad 2.0

  • @UserName222222

The same shit but with a camera.

  • why are there no descent windows tablets available at the moment?!! unbelievable! I want the HP Slate soo bad :)

  • @SteveDutchy

    .

    Sahara i440D

  • Unfortunately, if Microsoft really wants to soar in the tablet/slate and netbook market and maintain Ballmer's position of not having multiple client operating system, then windows needs a new interface. One built specifically for a netbook's small screen resolution and one built specifically for a finger touch interface. They should not leave it to oems to develop interfaces as Microsoft can make so bad ass interfaces, OEMs suck at it though.

  • @anubis9109 dude win 7 is for that domb ass

  • iOS is based on a cut-down version of Darwin, afaik.

  • Cool!! a laptop without a keyboard...you know I'm sure it isn't as powerful as a laptop anyway and how much more space could a laptop take. If I'm going to get a device with a full OS on it it's gonna be a laptop. Might as well....

  • @XtronGraphics

yeah, tablet is not full-featured computer, having a full-featured OS on tablet will only unnecessarily complicate things.

  • Micrsoft needs to develop a finger friendly Windows 7 minus the extra in order to compete with the IPAD. My friend told me the IPAD OS is really a Linux based OS...is this true??

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM no it is not the ipad uses the iphone software not linux

  • Looks responsive as fuck. Diggin' it.

  • actually slate has not been cancelled, it will come june, hp has been confirm it, but it is unknow if the slate is still running 7

  • Neither the Slate or the ipad is all that great. The slade apparantly couldn't handle Windows 7 and the Ipad unnecessary expensive reader. The idea of having a full PC in a small package is great and certainly more useful then a huge Ipod touch, but it also needs to run fast. I pad runs smooth but doesn't deserve credit for that due to its low specs. Still strange that the Slade has problems running Windows 7 while the P1610 from years ago can run it fine.

  • @33party33

1- HP officially dropped windows 7, yes OFFICIALLY, for their 'slate' as they put it "BAD performance and horrible power management", they are will now use 'webOS' (yes, the palm phone's OS. )

2- the only real competitor to the iPad is the Amazon's Kindle DX; since the iPad IS mainly a FUCKING READER! it was NOT meant to be a tablet pc...

  • @mikegrung

    dude chill out you pussy

  • @33party33 i hear ya brother

  • @wiseguymayo Techinically windows hasn't followed apple, they introduced tablet pc support with windows XP, it's the hardware guys copying mac :P

  • Come on, everybody keeps saying this is an ipad killer even though both look very cool and interesting. iPad looks more sleek, slim, and weighs less and has more than 1000000 apps. HP Slate has Windows 7, multitasking, and plays flash.

in my opinion i am not sure which one to choose so somebody tell me please! The iPad is more cheap with 3G and 16GB too i believe

  • @IDK642HALO yeah but it's got 16gb.. that couldn't even store all my music let alone videos from my ipod =/

  • @Pilkingtube

HP slate has 32GBS and it upgradable

  • @mikegrung When is this being released in Japan? I want one :D

It's this or one of thoser Hanvon ones

  • @IDK642HALO

Your a idiot, sorry. The HP slate will be 550$(50 more than the cheapest ipad BUT) It has 1GB of ram(Ipad:256MB), the slate: 32GB(Ipad:16GB), the slate runs an actual fucking computer OS(the ipad runs a ipod OS), stronger CPU, the hp slate has more appz(any application that you can download off the net), most of the ipads appz are useless, stupid games, or bad app ideas.

  • @IDK642HALO

Oh and by the way, i just checked, the HP slate actually weighs less

The ipad 32GB model is 1.6Lbs(pounds)

The HP slate 32GB model is 1.49Lbs

    FUCKING PWNED NOOB!!!!!!!!

  • i don't get the point of the ipad or the hp slate when a laptop is more comfortable... i don't know about you people but my hand would be fricking tired holding those portable p.c's...

  • and it's gonna have a camera.....flash....sim card support from the beginning...it's a win across all boards in my view....fuck apple

  • pretty awesome

  • come on then guys when is this iPad killer going to be released? im interested....

  • does anybody know when it will be in sale and if it has wifi support?

  • @pashoweveryouspellit f the future im concerned bout the present

  • look at what Apple r doing now with flash because in 5 years when html5 is the standard ur gonna look back and c just how bad flash was. it seems Apple is the only company that has the passion to keep technology moving forward even if that means loosing customers because of it. Google only develops products it can run ads on and dont give a shit bout wat direction technology is heading and Microsoft just seems to move in Apple's shadow while slowly dying.

  • @pasqualeforgione It dont matter Hp slate will also be able run it still anyway LOL

  • @pasqualeforgione

Ignorant bastard, I DONT WAN'T TO WAIT OVER 5 YEARS FOR FLASH

So the iphone came out in 2007

    So 5+3=hmm..... 8 FUCKING YEARS

    Apple is fucking genius

  • HP to the rescue! Apple, you best watch yourself.

  • i think they should get schools to get perants to buy this for their kids instead of the books completely. and the kids dont have to keep buying books every year. proble cheaper in the long term.

  • Doez a keybord pop up lik tha ipad do????

  • @goldboyjr this has full windows 7 so if it doesnt it always has on screen keyboard lol

  • Windows 7 is just not made for touchscreen devices ... it may work, but you can't deny It's originally designed for use with mouse and keyboard. Unlike iPhone OS on the iPad.

  • @coljackdripperofburp

that was true with 95/98/XP and Vista. But Windows7 was built with touch controls in mind. It's already fully functional as it is on touch screeen devices, without needing any kind of stylus. And with Slate I'm sure HP will add another UI layer to make it even easier to use

  • @coljackdripperofburp

Agreed. I've used win7 on a touch device and it just doesn't quite feel as nice as using an OS designed for touch, such as Android or the iPhone OS.

  • That thing is NICE!

  • personally, don't think it holds a candle to the iPad

  • how so?

  • @iamkarmapolice of course i dont mean to offend any people who disagree or are not a fan of apple products but i think so basically because apple has redesigned many applications specifically for it's new product as oppose to just running the same old OS on a touchscreen tablet, and also i just think these other tablets look cheaper and don't have the elegance and class that the iPad does.

  • Now all we need to see is bill gate publicly beat the shit out of Steve Jobs. APPLE for the loss.

  • @Unstizzy yeah that won't happen

  • how much is this thing going to cost

  • when is it being released

  • ARCHOS, PEGATRON and HP SLATE

    WICH IS THE BEST ?

    but fuck ipad shit

  • I think HP

  • it sucks. you can see the screen isnt resistant to the oily fingers

  • Ok. The Apples' Ipad has the best quality ever! But its not a real computer is it? I need MSOffice and Adobe and so on for documents and an operating system! LOL This one has it but it looks like crap. So what's the plan??

  • check out the hp slate. sick. and apple is poor quality. 12" of glass on a handheld device is idiotic.

  • @mareleblond98 Well the iPad certainly has the power to run a full OS but apple apparently decided it's better simplified - never the less the moment it's released teams of people will be working on running Linux ports (like iPhone linux) and perhaps even kernel hacks to get snow leo running, in a similar way to a hackintosh.

  • @mareleblond98 I have Quickoffice on my iphone...spreadsheets...word processing, PDF's...what more would you need...the same apps for the iphone are available to the ipad..plus I think the Ipad comes with Iwork which would be even better than Quickoffice...not to mention anybody can use Google docs...they just have to have an internet connection...

  • -very bad viewing angle

    -NOT very original (...)

-once again they managed to make it more ugly than the apple ipad

-u got the same high crash/rate that u have always got with windows machines

-all the complexity that you don´t need anyways on a portable product.

-a full OS with fast components will drain battery life at an incredible speed

  • -ummm- these came out before iPad

-looks fine to me. I think the ipad resembles a well-used bar of soap.

-You still on Windows 95? W7 has never crashed on me. my iPhone freezes a couple of times a week however.

-Ahh, when you say 'complexity', you mean full internet and multitasking, etc.

    - can't comment on this particular machine, but some Atom PCs go all day

  • @bbbumble1 well-used bar of soap? are you really comparing it's aluminum unibody and LED-lit screen beauty with this plastic fingerprint-collector? and yes, 7 has some huge compatibility issues and kills me with constand (sometimes incorrect) system messages. and u got a huge and unusual prob with ur iphone. furthermore, it's a minority of people that need multitasking when on-the-go. simplicity and beauty combined conquer the world. whats the price of this windows thing anyways?

  • @bbbumble1

    Cool story bro

  • @h4x0y you are totally right forget about these stupid blind people

  • just trying to make some blind eyes working ;) especially those who compare the ipad performance-wise aswell as price-wise to i7 based desktop PC's. as if these two things are made for the same reason..

  • @h4x0y i dont know what people you are talking about. we know they are not the same................... anyways. thais product is neither a desktop pc nor an ipad, it is just an imitator and just a tease to make people believe that this company is doing something. at least Apple has the balls to bring a device to market. Simple

  • I would consider buying this the hp slate looks abit too small and the archos slate is ment to be terrible but I want to know the screen size of this tablet anyone tell me ?

  • Reminds me of a less bulky version of my HP touchsmart TX2 or Microsoft surface.

  • a full win7 on a tablet...wha telse u want more? I would get this over Apple if its below $500

  • I would take a W7 slate pc over the ipad even if its priced at 900$.

  • It's funny that Apple's weak sauce attempt at a tablet computer might drive people to buy competitor tablets.

I think I might buy the HP Slate. I'm an English teacher (ESL), and I believe that I could make good use of it. That and Google Translate.... hell yeah.

  • Yeah I personally think Apple's attempt at the tablet pc will make buyers buy competing products.

  • @modemmack Well it's perfect because apple did all the hyping and the marketing already meaning that by the time windows based computer companies start making it...the public already knows what to expect, and what it is from the Ipad. But yes I would definitely buy the HP as well.

  • watch the language teacher

  • @modemmack well put

  • @modemmack

I find it funny how my vnc program can stream faster then this thing runs windows natively

  • i can see myself playing small time games like uplink or zuma or obulis in a car trip or plain...

    awesome!!

  • SD slot, or no buy.

  • at least pc slate pad are a full win 7 and not just a blow up itouch like the crappy ipad.

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM Actually I'd prefer the touch over the ipad because it is smaller. Honestly I hope people realize the crap that it is and either go for these win 7 slates or linux based smartbooks like pegatron neo and stuff which are STILL better than the iPad.

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM What is an iTouch? What a retarded piece of shit. It's called iPod Touch. If you're gonna bash Apple at least learn their product names correctly.

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM

Win7 is not designed to be used with touch gesture and fingers.

This is why the iPhone and the iPad are so successful. The devices are touch devices and the OS has been specifically designed to be a real touch OS.

You can`t just smash a full blown desktop OS on a touch devices. MS learned it the hard way.

  • how can paople call this bulky, its as thin as many phones out there!

  • There are a large number of multi-touch slate PCs that have been announced this year. The Apple iPad is just the most popular one. These devices aim to replace e-ink, mainly because not everyone reads material without diagrams, etc (ie. textbooks, journals, magazines), but also you have to think of the multitude of software development opportunities are available with a large screen multi-touch device. Eventually, everyone will carry something similar to these first generation slate PCs.

  • I don't think the iPad is popular, there was a ton of hype behind an OSX slate, but many were disappointed with the release of a big iPod touch.

  • I just use my psp to read ebooks, really you don't need that big of a screen to read small type.

  • The #Pegatron even sounds cooler than the #iPad also #windows7 is a lot less proprietary.

  • I wonder why this tablet PC is not as hyped as the iPad.

I mean, this is the proper 'third category'. Combination of a touchscreen handheld + laptop = touchscreen handheld laptop :D

  • Perhaps it doesn't have the same battery power, or processing power. The people who made it aren't as popular as Apple either. But you're right, this thing's awesome! It does a lot more then the iPad as well.

  • @pascbjumper2 I guess it's possible to buy new battery for that what's not probably possible with ipad

  • I hadn't thought of that. You could probably replace it's battery.. I guess the most probably answer to senaiboy's question is that this is Apple we're talking about, and their a fad. Everybody wants the latest and greatest from Apple, though they could care less about everything else. Their loss. The other stuff's often better.

  • Yea it has better processing power, and Windows is far more popular then apple.

  • Do I wanna read of a glossy screen that its not eink? Its like everything in the windows world, kick it on the market and after the 3 Gen you can start using it. Technology is not all. Concept and visions. This year is the Ereader-year. You can buy book all over the web. Thats cool. But does this slate offer me something to read better than from a Laptop? Bluetooth Keyboard please!!!

  • Fingerprint magnet! :P

  • I would prefer that it was thinner, dunno about weight but it seems abit bulky.

  • Reflective screen = useless outdoors

  • Actually the reflective screen makes it usuable outdoors, you'll have to angle it from the sun or other lightsource to get it to work. Gloss= good for outdoors, the Matte finnish screens are good for the corperate world, where there are many lights and you cant possibly angle away from all of them. You find high gloss screens a pain in a business envoirnment.

  • Would this use an on-screen keyboard?

  • Comment removed

  • OSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSStias!

    es un ordenador?O.O

  • kinda bulky.

  • haven't got any usb port?? and I think that the skateboard won't be comfortable...

  • i think this will be the same size as the apple islate (or whatever the name is)

  • The rumored 'iSlate' isn't known to exist.. as of yet.

  • woah dude! ive been subscribed to u befor this video was made funni meetin u hear

and btw apple verified that they are releasing a touchscreen device as of last week

  • small world :)

oh cool, I can't wait to see.
