I've been learning all sorts of repertoire but my one problem has remained learning how to use my arm weight properly. I found your video so useful and will put it all to use tomorrow as its 2 am and i have someone living above me : O
He is so cute and I am actually playing the piano rather than just dusting it weekly!!! Love the silver chain, too! Nice.....smart and cute and funny!!! Awesome combinations!
Just wanted to say I love your videos.. I think you are just so cool yes Im aware of how weird that sounds hah.. No not a stalker or some weirdo just a fellow music lover, beginner - easy piano
i really like it how you put the chopin polonaise op.53 in Abmajor in many of your videos. thiss very much reminds me of the past, as i was born in poland and lived there for 10 years and studied piano preety much the whole time. ever since i moved to us i stopped, and i regret it now.
It looks like you're covering just about everything there is to know. Thanks for making these videos, it helps when your self learning to get tips and perspectives like the ones you're offering, so keep up the great work and good luck as well.
BTW I'm going to try and go through your entire course, as I go through my own self study and if and when I get to the end of it, (or before then) I'll hit you up with some more feedback or questions. I've dedicated myself to practicing every day for more than an hour, and in order to do that you need a lot of variety to keep interested in the playing. It's all a mind trick I guess, but what your saying in these vids is clicking for me, (the mindset) thanks again :D
actually i skipped lesson 22 WA sorry teacher ..... i just couldnt understand what your tuner was saying =( ..... ( nose bleed) so i kinda skipped it hhihi... i have a question teacher ... how can i strengthen my ring finger ... cause i find it really hard to press keys using it, its like hmm... it " powerless" my teacher here in the Philippines told me to just practice my scales for a bit and then i will eventually get used to it ... any other suggestions?? hihihi
wow this is really scary, I already knew that you can have 99% of your 'brain power' as you had when you were young if you use it and keep it exercised but I didn't realize it meant what's not used dies! I wonder if you can regenerate it if you start to try new things?
Excellent advice. I've played for years and know that what you say is absolutely true. Music cannot flow out of you if you are tense. And there is a greater chance of forgetting info if you're not relaxed.
well i'm a psychology major, so i'm pretty sure i do. unless my professors have all done me wrong. ;) hopefully not or i'll screw up alot of my patients when i start working.
another reason we lose synapses is actually so that we could create more efficient neural pathways. could you imagine having to go through all of those synapses to do something?;)
thanks for all the comments! i was joking about musician's being eccentric! (as i am one myself) I'll try to keep people posted, as soon as i'm able to talk alittle, maybe i'll do alittle video update?
Us musicians are not eccentric;we are gifted. I started playing bass when i was around 14 and i am now 38-my dad has been a guitar player since he was 12, and he is now 63 and he can still tear it up!!!! My sister started singing in church at the tender age of 8-Now she is 35--we are the next Partridge family!!
I wish i had a camcorder-- I have been playing bass off and on since i was 14 and I - am totally following you on the relaxing your mind-- the longer you do something, It becomes as easy as breathing..thanks for showing us this because I need a new challenge. That is why I am learning keyboards.
OMG! Sprite! Sprite! Where are you? She's a beautiful cat! Maybe you should teach her how to play piano. Hehe! Did you ever saw the video of a cat playing the piano? That was one talented cat, maybe she had that talent too. ^_^!
hehe ^_^ sprite is cute i know! I've tried to teach her piano, but she's not interested it's a shame really.. she loves listening though, whenever i play piano she lays down by me and looks up and closes her eyes, unless i'm playing beethoven, then she puts her ears back and looks away
Well, now at 71, I can appreciate the need to keep the brain active and this was one of the reasons I decided to take up the piano, even at this rather late starting point. It's a bit of a slow learning curve of course but I do get a lot of satisfaction from my daily scales and I can certainly take on board the need to relax and "let it all flow" . Thanks Andrew and I guess a lot of us will be thinking about you whilst you get your forthcoming surgery. You come back real soon.
thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed all this! I'm thinking about shooting another lesson today and maybe another one later on to make up for the lessons i'm going to be missing when my jaw is sliced up.
Good lesson, but I'd like to know some more. I always have trouble with nerves when I'm playing concerts, exams, etc. I mean, it's not easy to think "easy" when the cogs in your brain is flying in every direction.
When I'm about to show my teacher what I have practiced during the week or before our weekly piano duet I think *this is easy* and it really does help. Play it easy indeed, good lesson!
exactly! play it easy, it works! I wasn't sure if people would actually like this lesson since it's a little different. I thought it was important though!
Thankyou so much. I got myself a digital piano about 2 months ago. I cannot describe how beneficial these lessons have been to me. Keep doing what you do best ;)
I'll keep it going!! ^_^ Do you think these piano lessons are the only good video's i put out?? :( marr that's sad i want to be good at other things to!
