  • Good punch,....Gary Knight couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. Super strong scrummager and top amateur wrestler but...punch, nah.

That Gert Smal was not small...hehe, he was one big sucker.

  • Siddown!!!!!

  • BAM SON how does that dirt taste???

  • should introduce him to mark(cowboy)shaw

  • These were the good old days when rygby was for men, not sissy boys..

  • slapa da face gert

  • Hopefully he can teach Tony Buckley how to do that then there wont b any team we cant beat/up!!! lol Welcome to Ireland Gert!!

  • haha im good friends with his son :)

  • Gert Smal is a poor man's Keith Murdoch....hehe

  • Ha ha gert gave him a smack

  • Axle was one tough bastard and a real gentleman. Took it and gave it and did not complain. A real gladiator.

  • Owned!!!

  • fucking pwned..south africa you beauty

  • What a poes

  • what a man

  • that's one sweet shot. looks like something from a john wayne movie.

  • The great Peter Winterbottom, who could cut any player in two himself, said Smal's tackle on him was the best he'd ever taken in his career!!!!

  • Whatever. Peter Winterbottom was good but I've certainly never seen him "cut anyone in two".

  • Jeez, he's delivered some beauties in his time! However, most were around the fringes, "the unseen stuff" if your with me, not the glory stuff with a guy hurtling toward him coming onto the ball at pace ready to be smashed, although that was meat and drink to him anyway. Indeed, you're very own Bryce Rope not only gave him "player of the series" back in '83 when the Lions toured, but commented on his tackling power. He said his time at Hawkes Bay as a kid was invaluable. NOT lookin fwd to SAT!

  • Yeh, he was a toiler, thats for sure. I was at the 4th test at Eden Park in 1983 between the All Blacks and the Lions. Seemed like yesterday, but was 25 years ago!

  • Aha! Well, sorry to bug you (and god knows why I'd want it), do you know anywhere where I can get hold of footage of the tour?

  • My old lady used to work for Television NZ sport and still has some contacts there. I've managed to get hold off some great old rubgy vids over the years, so I'll see what I can find.

  • Cheers friend.....don't spoil it by wanting to chat about yesterdays internationals though!!!!

  • Amybe u should ask John Kirwan, who got absolutely buried by Wints in the second test at Wellington in 1993 v. the Lions.

  • Yeh, but Kirwan was a back. Backs aren't supposed to run into forwards. If they do, they get drilled!

  • his sons in my class!

  • Don't get in a fight with him Stickerzz he punch's.

    I

  • Anyone who plays in the Bok pack must be very very tough, but if Kevin Skinner was playing, in his prime, I think the whole of the Bok frontrow would have been practising eating food through a straw.

  • Smal Ireland's new forwards coach. excellent, just what we need, a tough mofo to put a bit of dog into our pack!

  • jaaaa boet, bliksemse kiwi.......

  • ja nee as jy kak soek gaan jy dit kry

  • Bwaaaaahahahahaha!!! Blerrie Kiwi, le en blooi!!!
