actually ice makes it harder to pierce it because it hardens the skin...it may numb it but its harder and more painful after. but nice job.

I don't approve of self-piercing...It SHOULD be done in a safe, sanitary environment regardless of how many-self piercings you already have...No matter how much "research" you've done you can never be too sure or education than being mentored. i have my septum pierced as well but i had mine done professionlally, they told me my "sweet spot"..the place you are supposed to put the needle was too small so they clipped my cartilage with the needle and that hurt like hell..but congrats i think you did good for it to be done on ur own..i am an ameature piercer and that is a tough place to pierce in ur own! great job! and i love your hair!

Surgical Steel 12g hollow needle. and it was only the 2nd piercing ive ever done. and you cant CLEARLY decide something without know all the facts. DD;

@mintyoreoos Actually some places do use clamps, I think that's more UK, Aus, blabla though. The shop I got my industrial, nose, and septum from used recieving tubes for all three of them. As does the shop I'm apprenticing at now. Just because a clamp isn't necessary for those, and the tube helps you not stab the wrong area on the way out. :] You cannn use it more than once, but it hurts more after the first because those dull down so fast.

@mintyoreoos they do use clamps for the septum ring i did my smiley and my septum myself without any clamps but my friend went to an esteemed piercing shop and they used a clamp she said the clamps actually hurt more than the piercing so nunyabusiness maybe you should do your research before critiscizing others and minty oreos you are extremely gorgeous just thought i'd put that out there

Probably not the best idea to continue touching your sleeves/hair while your piercing. Gloves would have been a smart idea too. At least it came our relatively straight from what I can see. I`ve seen horrid self piercing septum attempts. Got mine done professionally, absolutely love it.

mine didnt hurt when i pierced it, i just had to sneeze ^.^ haha. and the "sweet spot" is the thinner part. put your fingers up your nose (lol) and kind of grab the septum part. pinch it with the flat parts of your fingertips and pull a little bit. the "sweet spot" is the thinnest part you find. i suggest no icing it. just take the needle and pierce. hold the other side of your septum, and wait for the tip of the needle to break skin. then shove it through (:
