Ian Astbury has a sucessful band- The Cult - plz see "She sells Sanctuary" for 2nd best song ever. He's not playing Jim, he is vocalizing his love and his vocals for The Doors. Jim Died, I was born. Ian lives...
i seen ian and the doors in concert in pittsburgh and ian hit every damn note and verse perfect. i sat in the second row and ian was pointing me out as we sang along. i thought that was the coolest. niether ray nor robbie missed a beat. awsome.
@nmorris47 Totally agree with you. I have the dvd and it is absolutely amazing. Robbie has always inspired me to practice the my scales and strive harder to be a thorough musician/songwriter. It's amazing what you can do with a couple of chords (: Oh and Ian... you the man. Professional as always.
Astbury make a good job with this grate band..and this song ...fix in the hole...and he looks like a little bit Morrison rigth?..anyway hes so cool....
I like Ian better in The Cult. Sometimes these mixes can be great but this one doesn't do much for me. Ian impersonating Jim seems odd, in my opinion. He's already made a name for himself in the Cult, why not just stick with them?
@Cubby1951 This was just for fun, I imagine. Also, Ian had a huge emotional experience in '79 while watching Apocalyose Now and listening to The End, and I imagine that for him, inhabiting Morrison;s role was a worthwhile thing to do.
Gotta say that Raymond Manzarek plays much worst now that he did in the 60s...rather than getting better and more skilled within the decades,he sounds like his hands are frozen without any creativity at all when soloing....his organ style in the 60s was way,way better...not to mention the mediocre Vox organ samples he uses in these tours.... :(
@MrDeagunJones he has tinnitis and he's with his own band tribal jazz cause he would rather be a jazz drummer than suck it up and perform with ray and robby
@timmrossfeld Let me use smaller words so your brain can comprehend, I know thats Ian, but I was trying to say Glen is the closest to Jim no do you understand, or are you going to act like an immature cunt?
The surviving members of the doors said val Kilmer was indistinguishable from Morrison when singing

Scott Weiland is less dynamic but much closer to Morrison.

Glenn Dazing is the closest to replicating Jim Morrisons voice, he sounds so much like Jim.
marveldcstinger 2 years ago 2
Yep. Pretty good, pretty neat. I always thought of Danzig as the "Evil Elvis" and a damned close voice to the LIzard King!!

hey dipshit, thats not Glenn Danzig, it's Ian Asbury of The Cult, don't post shit if you don't know what u are talking about moron
