  • cool

  • hehehe, good old times...

  • ahh I remember this as an undergrad 10 years ago. awesome work boys

  • hahahahahaha i love this!!!! funny :D x

  • It's not a good party until someone loses a limb ;-)

  • haha! as if a paternoster isn't awesome enough!

    nice job.

  • Just commenting to say that while I find the device itself stupid, I'm glad people keep old technologies running to show technological progress, and how certain ideas look good on paper, but fail miserably in reality.

Also: simple stupid humor still cracks me up.

  • hahaha i'm just sad i missed it!

  • I wish they had these kind of elevators here in America. Sadly it would never work here. Everyone here is so damn sue happy that they want to take you to court if they stub their little toe within 100 yards of your property.

  • Um, no the reason it wouldn't work is that they're impractical. There's no way to stop the lift, and it can only fit 2 normal sized adults that have no disabilities, no major amount of luggage, no children on strollers.....

Why not just take the damn stairs? The only reason this useless relic still exists is for novelty's sake. Perhaps if you'd look at this from a broader perspective you'd realize how dumb a Paternoster is: its a vertical escalator with more chances for horrible accidents.

  • Actually these could have a practical use. In large buildings alongside of standard elevators. Hospitals for instance, where time is urgent. Regular elevators can take a long time to reach your floor, say for instance a doctor only need to hop up 1-2 floors real quick in an emergency, why wait on a regular elevator which is stopping at 10 different floors before it gets to you? If they had these you could be on your way. There would still be standard elevators for regular use of course.

  • In an emergency you use the stairs, since this device and all elevators become death traps in case of an emergency.

When an elevator or paternoster breaks down with people on it, it strands people until power is restored. When an escalator breaks down? It becomes a normal staircase.

    Sorry: Escalator temporarily stairs!

If a doctor needs to go up 2 flights "quickly", he uses THE STAIRS..or the elevator, since any place where a doctor needs to quickly respond has fast service elevators.

  • Also, in hospitals, where "time is urgent' (no, really?), the amount of space these useless contraptions take up could house another set of rapid service elevators big enough for SEVERAL people, including PATIENTS ON STRETCHERS. Which your useless paternostsers CAN'T DO.

Give it up, your "wondrous" technology is buggy and full of flaws. We have moved on and the devices we have today are 1000 times better than paternosters.

  • I hope you aren't the future of health and safety otherwise this will become a very boring world.

  • @i8246i

    haha,

in reality they are really practical. In office buildings with massive vertical inner traffic, it is proved to be the fastest and most convenient way of transportation.

And it is not meant to carry luggage, stroller, disabled people. For those, there is a standard lift nearby...

  • Fucking students

  • it kicks ass because you can party on every floor and the reveal is hilarious

  • legend!

  • Omg lol that's amazing! I hope someone does something like that while I'm at Sheff.

  • Why don't you? Live a little.

  • LOL!

  • LOLL love that lift

  • absolutely awesome. wot is that music?

  • haha that's amazing.

  • haha them lifts are ace

  • good stuff!

  • Jordi & Nate, you are fucking legends!
