Seems to me that it's by choice they are working there, might not be a happy work environment, might not be fair, but this is a third world country, don't bring your values and ideas to a place you know nothing about. Ask yourself, are they better with or without even these jobs? What are the alternatives without them? Rice farming and prostitution? Yes, the pay is low (now) long hours, harsh conditions, etc. Eventually that will change. Unions will move in, pay raises, better wages will follow until, it is no longer profitable running a factory there. So CO.s move to the next poor country. I think Africa is poised as the next potential "sweat shop" of the world. Benefits & hardships are bound to follow.

Why is nobody talking about the benefits of this? Don't forget, here your seeing how the AMERICAN labor sector was, 100 years ago. (except then 5yo's worked 18hr days too) As more people are employed, more $ flows thru the economy. That causes a tighter labor market. Eventually workers can demand more money. More job opportunities are available. More $ is made, more business started, more workers hired, better wages, repeat cycle. Look at China? It just takes time to work it all out.

Yes, the products may only cost $1 and sell for $40. Do remember that if it make in the u.s.a. or european countries, the cost of making them will be a lot higher because of more expensive labors and that will equal to a lot higher price in the market. Look at Wal-Mart stoers. Their products come from china, therefore the company can offered the u.s. buyers a lower price point.

This is a fact and your arguments make no sens. When its made for 1$ in China, I think it would cost no more then 10$ to make in the west. The demand of cheap products is the one that send out any company to serarch for cheaper labors. The people in Thailand and others are now living in better than they were.
