I noticed you didn't get close to the tree, you just zoomed in from a distance. The tree is past the trail that takes you to the hollywood sign, just keep walking straight when the road forks and continues north and east. Take the north fork its on the right as you continue about a mile past the fork on the left. If you go there leaves some flowers and a say a prayer.
