I honestly don't understand what people's problems are with AvP movies. I've seen all 4 Alien movies and liked them. I've seen both Predator movies and liked them too. I've also seen both AvP movies, and I liked both of them. I didn't feel that they were trying to "cash in on 2 popular franchises" in any way. I guess I'm just in the minority, but whatever.

@sargecaboosegriftex The only thing I disliked about the AvP movies was in the first one there were more than one predator and it's supposed to be Aliens vs Predator. Predator, no plural lol. Being a huge fan of the original graphic novels this really annoyed me. And the other thing was how easily the Aliens killed the first two Predators. That would never happen, Predators are superior to Aliens and would not be ambushed or killed so easily. But I still really enjoyed both films.

20th Century Fox pulled the idea of AVP3, instead they're making a Reboot Sequel called PREDATORS, based on a script written by Robert Rodriguez and is to be directed by Nimrod Antal. As for Alien Ridley Scott director of the Original Alien is returning to direct a Prequel, an Origin story to his classic master piece, sounds like a fanboys wildest dream come true.

Yes, 20th Century Fox did pull the idea of AVP3 off but only whilst the remakes of the original predator and alien movies are being produced. I am not sure exactly that the Alien's director is the same from the first one because i overheard he will be helping another director in creating the film just like Peter Jackson did for District 9.

As for the Alien Prequel it was rumored that Ridley Scott was only producing while a close friend of his Carl Rinsch would direct but I think Fox chose Ridley over him, Ridleys close to finishing Robin Hood and might direct the new Alien, Carl Rinsch may direct the remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon

thats partial true. the director of the movie do not own the soundtrack or movie franchise (in most cases). The studio does. the soundtrack is not however free too use. if someone wanted to use the soundtrack for another movie (trailer) then they would have to pay the studio the rights to use the song that one time.
