  • 200 out of 10

  • just close your eyes... tilt your head back. feel your fingers grasping for the clouds, dyed pink with the sun, floating back to earth like a feather... hair whipping around your face... the body of such a powerful beast underneath you, your heart pounding in your chest. knowing that you and him are connected, and that you'll never see anything more beautiful.

    that's what this song does.

  • I think I was at least 200 of the 70,000 some watches.. <3

  • when i get married..i want this song to play as im walking down the isle

  • I think this is very triabal at the start and a beautiful song and one of the reasons i love this movie. Also does anyone know the song that is played when Hiccup and Toothless touch for the first time, after the part where Toothless draws a picture with a tree trunk?? :) 10/10

  • @TheNaturegirl12 It's at the very end of "Forbidden Friendship"

  • This song made me cry...

  • i love this part. i watch it over and over. ahhhhhlkjlkj how can music make you feel so incredible? and the visuals when they're over the water matches it beautifully.

  • My favorite movie!

  • This officially is my favorite movie. I can't believe the incredible movies Dreamworks has been releasing recently.

  • beautiful and inspiring

  • the great sound of the world will always be shown as a great view of music :D

  • I wish this song was 10 hours long.. I really really do.

  • @Insanegamerrob t'is why they created the replay button.

  • who disliked this?!

  • @derrklavier a couple of idiots.

  • @derrklavier People with no taste

  • This song will play at my wedding.

  • Damn, I want to take my girlfriend horse back riding over the highlands of Scotland or something! :p With this music playing the whole time!!!!! :D

  • hiccup and astrid the perfect(what i want to have)couple

  • I'm yearning to say certainly like Hiccup:"We have dragon"!!!

  • Dreamworks finally pulled of something good, after the fail that was 3 extra shrek movies.

  • I saw this in 2010.....I don't care that it's a year later! It's a good movie! Best one, in my humble opinion, since the existence of mankind! I liked Hiccup, till the sorcerers apprentice.....It's like seeing your best friends......It's a wonderful feeling :D

    How to Train your Dragon....

  • @Glameyes1

Same here. This was an insane movie, and I refuse to watch anything else.

  • @DoggieSox I played it in my band at school. It feels so amazing to be part of it, my favorite thing we ever played in band over six years <3

  • I really take for granted how beautiful music can be. Much of todays modern music has tarnished what music is and can really be with great passion and love for it. Powell is the perfect example of this. God Bless him and those who hope to follow in his footsteps!

  • i realllllly wanna play this in band. im suggesting it to my teacher

  • @DoggieSox ikr! apparently this soundtrack "doesnt translate well into marching band music" >:(

  • POWELL WAS ROBBED!!! this shouldve won the oscar D':

  • Powell is now a legend. this makes me shiver every time.

  • This is so beautiful!<3

  • 0:50 <3

  • John Powell is a genius.

  • ALL OF THE AWARDS

  • It makes me cry :)

  • This song is so, powerful, and sweet.

I swear, when this played, it was the BEST part of the whole movie.

When i listen to it, it makes me feel like i'm Astrid herself.

    .. i'm a total Romance Junkie. 3

  • oh my gosh... those trills. Praise to the violinist!

  • Social Network should go die. It wasn't even a good movie. *grumpy face*

  • @felinebovine04 Facebook sucks ass, why should the movie be any different, if it was possible im sure Mark Zuckerberg would've added 9,000,000 useless shit to the movie at this very moment, just like he does to Facebook!

  • Is there a way that this can be played at my wedding when my wife walks down the isle? I'd much rather have this played than the Bridal Chorus... It expresses more beauty and affection to me... :)

  • ok i cant take it any more.,,,,,how do i choose my favourite soundtrack...they are all so beautiful

  • i really don't understand how the social network even HAS a score. There's no meaning to it!

  • @iluvrock92

I know right? It makes no sense how it won over this!

  • @iluvrock92 i agree. music is built on emotion. especially the scores in movies! They ESTABLISH the emotion and mood of the entire scene! I didn't see much of ANY of that in frickin Social Network.

  • @Kattygrl17 There's a difference between liking other soundtracks more then others, and just plain bitterness. I enjoyed John Powell's soundtrack more then Social Network, but I'm not going to stomp my feet because someone else enjoyed Social Network more.

  • Always have tears in my eyes by listening to it.

  • i love the begining da da da da

  • 1:26 I just get goosebumps all over!

  • amazing music

  • I just wanna hug Hiccup

  • @MessedUpGrasshopper I just wanna hug John Powell

  • This theme is so beautiful! I mean, i got so moved/touched by listening to it! I seriously shed a tear of it's beauty! (Pluss maybe a little jealousy cause Hiccup got a cute girl and i can't even though i'm a Hiccup'y person. XD) (Nah just kidding. Well about the first, i am a Hiccup'y person... )

  • lol.... tomato.

  • Fly over one a large city at night and play this song. Brings a tear to my eye.

    :')

  • @POTATOESLOL Grammatical error, sorry.

  • awesome ... awesome awesome ... again AWESOME !!! this music makes me happy (: so much

  • this is the FIRST soundtrack that's made me cry and i've listened to sum epic stuff :O :')

  • e.p.i.c!

  • i want to cry right now but my overpowering manliness prevents me from doing so.

  • @TheWhole9Yards1001 Same here, no1 knows who i am, so screw you all!

  • @TheWhole9Yards1001 grow up. -pats you on the shoulder-

  • I wish that berk was real! Really wish that astrid and toothless were real too!

  • THIS should have won Oscar! It's much better than The Social Network's score!

  • @cantri15 Social Network had a score!? I always notice when movies have scores worth noting!! lol I didn't hear one for Social Network!

  • @cantri15 although this score is amazing the emotion that the social network's gave off was amazing

  • @aileenlyons12 I disagree with you here. The Social Network's score, in my opinion, was sparse and dreadfully simple, and did not inspire any real emotion in the film so much as it provided a surface for otherwise awkward conversations to happen over. HTTYD's score was rich with imagery and supplemented the actions and emotions of the characters, so that listening to it without the film still inspired the same sensations from listeners as the whole film did with viewers. Not so with TSN.

  • @DarkJakable see that's where your wrong although dragon's score was great the social networks was so new original and captured emotion so amazingly almost hauntingly. listening to it without seeing the movie first you my think it's just a pretty good dance beat but while watching the movie especially the first two opening songs really puts you in this mood where the reflects on both mark zuckerberg's pain and anger

  • @aileenlyons12 Mark Zuckerberg can suck my balls, he wont stop fucking around with fb..

  • @nintendo4ever123 ok i refuse to engage in a conversation with you with that tone of vocabulary

  • @cantri15

Social network sucked. Almost the entire movie was about a lawsuit, the guy who built Facebook was an asshole, and to boot, it was over-priced.

  • @cantri15 Indeed

  • @cantri15

I didn't think John Powell would win (though I was still hoping), but I definitely did not think The Social Network would win either...

  • @cantri15 sometimes its about connections and who you know. maybe the people from that film knew some of the judges for the oscars. or whatever stuff like that. its not really the people who decide these things.

  • *punches in the arm* ow, hey!?!?:Hiccup "thats for kidnaping me" *grabs and kisses him really quick* "...and thats... thats for everything else" :Astrid

  • this is the most beautiful piece of the whole movie, i flew up on a cessna today for the firs time, and i played this song as well, and up in the sky u really feel like u have wings.

  • @imcrazyforwar I should play this tune while I'm in the pilot's seat next time. It'd be something else. By the way, I'm responding to your Cessna, they are really good trainer planes.

  • @tophrules0978 it belongs to a friend of mine, and she lets me use it, i like it, its a simple easy to use plane. :)

  • Why is this song so short? It's my favorite out of all of the songs!

  • One dislike? Madness!

  • @TheHMSInvincible

    why?

deaf folks can vote too! ain`t?

for some reason i can`t stop listening it! thank God I`m not one of them!

    love it.

    soooo much!

  • This is beautiful song...I can be hug my cat! ^^

  • This was an incredibly cute scene... Y'know, after all the spinning and 'usleless reptile'-ing about and whatnot XD

  • Love. The end.

  • As silly as this might sound...this is so beautiful it makes me cry! Definitely my favourite piece on this soundtrack.

  • i want this to play at my wedding

  • I want this playing on MY first romantic flight on a dragon.

    No, actually on Toothless.

    And with Hiccup.

I'll just trade places with Astrid I think.

I know Astrid means 'star' but it reminds me of some kind of limpet. I'm not sure why though.

  • @SilverWolfblaze another meaning of Astrid in norse is "divine beauty" c:

  • <3

  • that' really beautiful. i adore it....<3

  • The most epic movie scene ever!!!!!

  • <3

  • One of this movie's best songs!

  • wat instrument is playing at the beginning it has an amzing solo

  • @MsBandgeek2001 at the begining its a violin.

  • just shut up and enjoy the music, people(:

  • This song is absolutely nothing else than magical and beutyful!!! I am always starting to cry when they are flying through the sky and this song is starting to play :'D I am actually Norwegian and are cind of proud to be a ''viking'' when I am watching this movie :D Hehe :) Og jeg kan ikke si annet enn at denne sangen er den fineste sangen jeg har hørt på årevis!! <3 <3 :D

  • @Perny11 Um.... What did you actually say in whatever language that was?

  • @TreeckoANDGrovyle Norwegian :D

  • @MrRafaelllo That answers one half of the question. But answer the second half: What did you SAY in Norwegian?

  • @TreeckoANDGrovyle The best song i've ever heard ;)

  • @TreeckoANDGrovyle It was Norwegian:) I said: And I can't say other than; this song is the most beautiful song I have heard in years! :D

  • 1 person fell off of Toothless

  • When I listen to it I belive that the life is perfect. Thank you Powell.

  • WOW...seriously.......who disliked this song....loser

  • i subscribe you Mr.Domega hehehehehe

  • Man this song makes my day good.. when I hear this i want to hudle up to my gf and watch the movie again :D

  • Hiccup and Astrid. Enough said, they don't need anybody else. Except Toothless. Yeah, can't live without him either.

  • awww the pure and beautiful sound of young love *sighs dreamily*

  • This scene was beautiful!

I admire all those artists and animators who created this movie, and I sure hope to get to where they are making movies are excellent as this one <33

  • Best track of all! Such a great soundtrack!

  • I would rather be in astrid's body flying on a dragon with hiccup that listening to this! (by the way, love the soundtrack!)

  • A whole new world ~~ a dazzling place I never knew~ Now that I'm way up here, it's crystal clear, that now I'm in a whole new world with you~~~ :P

  • @spiritaway5177 That made me cry . :)

  • Hah...i find this argument kind of funny..and stupid..UHH have you guys seen aladdin? You could very much say the same thing. and yet i dont see anyone complaining, "I hate how Jasmine ends up with him only because he let her touch the clouds!" AGH

(i love aladdin. and How to train your dragon)

  • Comment removed

  • Love this scene/music and im 36years old :D

  • @youtopp74 I am 42 and I LOVE this!!!

  • I actually cried during this scene. <3

  • This part of the movie was incredible. I fell in love with Toothless even more here. Amazing!

  • @likeme8686 Me too! But more with Hiccup..but still LOVE THIS SONG! :)

  • Just absolutly Heart Jerking. No other phrase for it. <3

  • @Willhudski to Elusareth! DITTO!!

  • This song gives me chills, I love itttt

  • This soundtrack is absolutely INCREDIBLE!

  • This song is beautiful <3 It's gotta be my favorite on the soundtrack!

  • @Thechipmunkschipette For me the movie is more likable because of its completeness. It felt whole, satisfying, and the animation and music are beautiful. Not to mention I love the character design.

Comparing the first book to the movie, it's obvious which would take preference by me, someone who was not aware it was a series, not a standalone book.

  • @TheChipmunkschipette okay, looking back I typed things hastily not saying what I really meant.

I have only read the one that shares the title of this movie. For me it seemed as though the plot was ambling on with no real goal in mind. It left me unsatisfied, and while I did judge it by kids book standards, it just didn't seem that great to me.

Perhaps the future books are better, as with many series the author is just feeling around in the dark with their first. Perhaps this is the case.

  • But wouldn't that particular "some of you" change your mind about a person when they let you ride on their dragon, and let you experience something as amazing as what Astrid did? Oh, and Serdikhan? Fuck you.

  • And, surely, kids aren't going to be the only people to get this movie on DVD when it comes out.

And why are so many people bagging on Astrid all of a sudden? I mean, she may not have appeared in the books, but she's a very well-developed character in the movie. And so what if she likes Hiccup and Toothless now just cuz they let her "touch some clouds", as some of you have said it.

  • Plus, I mean it's not like kids are the only people that make the fan-sites about HTTYD, or the stories on FanFiction about HTTYD, or the fan-made videos of HTTYD (or the trailers, extras, and what-not). It's not like kids are the only people that watched this movie and really enjoyed it, or got the soundtrack. It's not like kids are the only people to get HTTYD to the top of the Box Office on its first weekend of being released in theaters.

  • I mean, look at Shrek and Toy Story. They're both animated, and some of the reason I put are connected with these two movies. Yet people EVERYWHERE love them. How does this change for "How To Train Your Dragon"?And besides, people need to make more movies like this. First of all, thank God that DreamWorks is making a sequel for this. Second, it's movies like this that opens up your inner child. Your imagination. Your dreams.

  • @TheChipmunkschipette There's going to be a sequeal? Yea-ya!!!

  • @TheChipmunkschipette There's going to be a sequeal? Yea-ya!!! (P.S. By the way, for some reason when I want to give a thumbs up it never appears on the screen. Just wanted to let you know I give you a thumbs up for your comment).

  • @TheTovestar oh ok then...thx!!!

  • (continued)

(this next part is to offenders of this movie) Well, have YOU ridden a dragon before? Have YOU been able to swing a very large and sharp weapon and been given praise by your parents, friends, and elders? Have YOU made a friendship that has changed generations worth of rules? I didn't think so. You know, just because a bunch of kids like this movie, doesn't mean it's nessecarily a kids' movie.

  • Ok, I am seriously offended-of how many times I hear people say that this movie is gay. And because of what? Because it's animated? Because it's the whole "loser becomes the hero" thing again? Because it's about a teenage guy's friendship with a dragon? And because of these totally ridiculous reasons people have, they think it's a kids' movie. Well, it's NOT!!! Just because it's flippin animated or whatever doesn't mean its a friking kids' movie.

  • I hate how Astrid ended up with Hiccup....Just because he had a cool ride. Tsk Tsk Astrid! Anyway I love this song

  • God, what a gorgeous, serene, moving piece of music.

  • Oooh, that was gorgeous.

  • I Wouldnt mind Hiccup takeing me on a romantic flight ;)

  • @elementswillguideu95 i wouldnt mind taking astrid.

  • My fav scenes when the blue sky came...*~* If these ignorant adult´s say this film is childish, I wanna be a child again...wanna be 6 years, it was the best year in my life. :}

  • @Rimfaxe96 Wanna be a child again ?, you are 12 year old o.O...

  • @Dylantog I´m 14! xD And 8 years are a long time. Especially if nearly all good friends live 50km away from ya. Too far away to play often. :(

  • @Rimfaxe96 Alrighty then..

  • okay flitterpaw and serdikhan, what are you seriously. 3? stop bloody arguing over nothing its pathetic. and you should bother with the book, it may be different but it is funny.

  • (cont)

Not that I'm saying a kid's story is without worth or something, but it's generally not the 7 year olds who are buying the tickets, or writing the internet and newspaper reviews that people read. You have to sort of jump genres if you want it to REALLY make a splash (which it did).

And seriously, I think that FLYING THROUGH THE SKY ON A DRAGON might do wonders to change your opinion of someone.

  • @Elusareth You are an epic person. You just put into words all the thoughts I've been trying to sort out in my brain for months to tell the "haters" out there. Nicely done.

  • @Elusareth You are my most favourite youtube user ever

  • (cont)

Honestly, how unimaginatively serious do you want all media products to be?

The romance was in the movie as a storyline device and to make it appeal to a wider audience, since let's face it, most people like romantic subplots as long as they aren't ham-handed and overemphasized. She is perfect in the 'revised' story, and does not feel at all tacked on, like many movie women do.

The book was written for like...7 year olds. It's a dumb story. Thank God they changed it.

  • Woooooooow, I cannot believe there are arguments on this movie's soundtrack.

The music is good. Creative liberty and all that. If every film was forced to use only music that was culturally relevant to where the story was based or 'inspired' with no deviation...goddamn, soundtracks would be boring.

Scottish accents, or no accents (the young vikings) are an acceptable alternative to speaking Norse, as the story takes place in the land of THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE REAL.

  • @Elusareth I know I totally agree with you. They're just being immature.

  • @Elusareth Well of course it is! Dragons are real and Vikings rode them all the time! Besides, non-fiction is always supposed to be historically accurate.

Gotta love brilliant people. I wish people would just appreciate the damn soundtrack for what it is.

  • @Elusareth its based in the Orkney Isles in scotland so... yeah scottish music and accents are relavent.

  • @bigbadgorefang Actually, it's based squarely in the realm of fantasy, as, insofar as I know, the Inner Hebrides do not have dragons on them. Furthermore, the vikings who might have lived there a thousand and a half years ago did not speak English with Scottish accents, nor did they speak with anything resembling modern Scottish accents at all. Which was the entire point of those things I wrote, which were in response to people being mad that the vikings didn't speak Norse.

    It does not matter.

  • @Elusareth Sure they didn't speak Norse, but the writing in the Dragon Manual is. I should know. I have viking (norwegian) ancestry.

  • @Elusareth If we demanded that characters speak the languages they are supposed to, then why aren't they speaking French in Ratatouille, Chinese in Mulan, Arabic in Aladdin, etc? And how do they talk at all in The Lion King and Finding Nemo? For sure I agree with what you say, but given that my biggest hitches were the Scottish/Norse thing and some gripes about dragon flight mechanics, what does that say about the movie?

  • Makes me wish I had a Dragon to impress a girl. I really do feel the title of this song is very fitting "Romantic Flight". So beatiful and peaceful.

  • your forgetting that this is the first time she's flown. flying for the first time has enough wonders on its own for a relationship to be made believable.

  • I don't get how this flying scene is better than Aladdin's flying scene. And it's ridiculous how Astrid certainly had a change of heart. Does touching clouds, see lights in the sky and seeing your home from bird's eye view really changes you? That wasn't enough to make their relationship beliavable!

  • @Serdikhan Just because Aladdin was a "classic", doesn't mean a damn thing. This movie is one of the best animated movies of all time and I'll be the first to say it easily tops just about every animated Disney movie I've ever seen.

You really aren't giving this scene enough credit just to try and make your point and it simply pathetic. I am damn sure the experience she had was more than enough to change her mind and it was 100x more romantic than the Aladdin flight scene.
