The whole album - and experience live - is like a book. You'll never get to the bottom of it but it's endlessly rewarding and the most heartfelt thing I think they've done. In a roundabout way. This and Annie's Box bring me to tears every time
the parts that sound like karin sound like that because there's lowered octave voices accompanying, like in most fever ray/knife songs. its awesome to hear it done knife-style on other people's voices
I didn't really like this album until I saw the actual opera. Now I absolutely love it and this is one of my all time favourite Knife songs. And while Karin would undoubtedly have sang it fantastically, I really love the vocals on this; she (Laerke Winther) sang it brilliantly when I saw it live too.
I feel all alone in the world loving this opera. Nobody knows about it, and people I tell don't care. I feel like I'm holding on to the best kept secret in the world.
Then the buzzing cicadas rock us to sleep... How is Charles? I haven't heard from him for a long, long time... A thousand years seem to pass so quickly. <3
So far from what i've heard this is the only decent track on the whole album, the rest-abstract noise, pressing random subtle fx on a synth, not real music
It’s like pure sound exploration, not quite music yet but not just jumbled noise. It’s toying with sound, exploring it, developing it. It kind of reminds me of playing on my keyboard when I was a kid. It’s interesting how polarized the reviews are on this album, you either love it or you don’t, you either get it or you don’t. It really draws the line between those who know and feel music, and those who just listen to it. This entire album is brilliant.
This track is quickly growing on me ^^ A perfect ending to the album. I love the lyrics - how the present time and the perspective of million years of evolution blend together. I just wish Karin sang it :(
hmm, im sure you at least know about fever ray by now (her solo project). another band you should look up is "Honey Is Cool", a band Karin was in before she and her brother formed the knife. you'll be very hard pressed to find there CD's though. some songs i would suggest by Honey Is Cool is Bolero, Baby Jane, The Lion, Breeding Bugs and Georgia.

@Syne111 Get used to it. Most people lack three elementary things: patience, curiosity and a sense of quality :)

ps. Oh, Z0NK, 'real music' is subjective. Remember the chink from ECGTB danced to silence. You didn't memba that did you m8.

I kinda thought this WAS Karin. Like sans vocoder or w/e and I was like yessssss. But its ok that's it not.
...It really isn't? hm.

@Z0NK100: It's not exactly your traditional album...but that said, Colouring of Pidgeons is a great song, and something you might like.

I LOVE Karin's voice, but for this track, I think the singer had the perfect voice for the tune rather than Karin. I adore this song so much!

Never heard Lærke Winther sing before, only acting. But she has a nice voice. I don't think it would have been better with Karin singing tho.
