i must admit, i used to see islam as sort of.. you know.. a little bit extreme. now i realise... its only really as extreme as any other of the religions! these muslims are so nice! and all the muslims i know in real life are nice too! there are extremists in every religion. i saw the guy at 7:50 on that ABC show "Q&A" on religion, and the way he talked just blew my mind, he is absolutely amazing with words and one of the smartest men ive ever heard.

I'm glad you have come to that realization. People often get religion mixed with culture and this creates confusion. Islam as a religion is a beautiful and PEACEFUL religion. Other things you may have noticed in muslims that you may not like is not what Islam teaches them, rather it is probably a cultural thing to do. More people need to realize that there is a diffrence between religion and culture.

Yes they have certain directions and obligations they must follow and abide by but that is the same with EVERY religion because the same law is for EVERYONE.
