Another thing that looks wierd, is that I've never seen the way to change your weapons like that before. Also the map is different from what I've seen and how you see a dead ultramarine??? The different head? Some levels and weapons that weren't even included in the final game? Did Relic make everything cool the first 2 years and dick around the rest of the time until release? Can we rewind time to about 3 years ago please? The wait for this game was better than the actual game itself.

I took a passing interest in tabletop 40k but it was the lore that really captivated me. After reading 'The Bleeding Chalice' I was totally hooked and started collecting minatures with fervor. It surprises me how many 40k fans I've met haven't read any of the literature aside from various codex's and magazines. The novels are awesome, particularly when the slaughter is immense, as it ALWAYS is when the Astartes are involved.

That's because they are, they're called bolts, and they're self propelled armour piercing projectiles with fuses set to go off a split second after it penetrates the target, causing massive damage from inside. It can in some cases separate an attacker from his sword hand, and in others completely gib them depending on the placement and if you passed your roll to wound.
@azfar70196 This game could beat Battlefield 3 flat into the ground, we don't know which is going to be better or worse, so we can't really say anything at this point.
Remember, at least in this game you're a superhuman Space Marine possibly hundreds of years old...wielding weapons the likes of which a Battlefield 3 trooper couldn't even stand.
I really don't get why he doesn't wear a Helmet from what i remember the only ones who didn't wear a helmet i think were the space wolves (not sure but i remember that there was one chapter) because their head was really hard due to bionics or stuff don't remember
@noob7helperataq Because it makes them easy to distinguish them from their troops in Table Top, Some Space Wolves don't wear helmets due to the fact their own sences exceed that of the helmets.

The "bullets exploding like rockets" is because the gun he's firing is a bolter, which is not a normal bullet based gun. "Autoguns" use regular bullets. Bolters fire miniature rocket propelled shells that explode after impact. A heavy bolter is like a machine gun that fires small rockets.

@RagdollDude I heard that in the campaign you can't customize your armor. But multiplayer is allowing for armor color and gear customization. That's what my friend who works at slackers told me... so I hope it's true.
On another note why are space marines riding an imperial guard Valkarie as they should be riding in a thunderhawk. Was it to water down the game to make it easier for people who don't have much background to the game to understand what is happening? Or maybe it was because a thunderhawk wouldn't of allowed the same encounter as this one? I hope they don't water it down too much.
Guess its because that kind of scenario can't be done on a Thunderhawk. On another note, i heard a Guard pilot talking while its all happening so i guess he just tagged along with them.
Just to say that warhammer was here first with this chainsaw fest stuff and what not, it was made back in 1987 so It predates most notable games. I think epic games took some ideas from the 40k universe. Like the very gothic looking buildings and story. Also people who say that gears is deep arn't really referring to the game as that the games don't really go that deep at all.

GoW read and deep? I'm a big fan of GoW but oh my... The 40k universe is so deep you'd need a life time to read every book, novel, rulebook, codex, history and not to mention there are over 12 factions and thousends upon thousends of chapters, companys, battalions etc etc. I take it back.. you would need MORE than a life time to go as deep as 40k.
This would be awesome if you got to run into other chapters, like THE WOLVES! And they be all Barbarian and shit, and then you smack talk em cuz you're a preppy school Ultra Marine and you get into a fight. But noone dies cuz you're all too fucking badass, and in the end a ton of Eldar have their feelings hurt and die. yup
probably the greatest benefit of the bolter is, since the bolts are primarily self-propelled, it can hold a lot of ammunition per clip. After all, it only needs enough brass to get the bolt out of the barrel. :D

There is possibility that there >could< be an automatic pattern of the bolter, but that would be rare. Just look at all the old games - the bolter was always a semi-automatic rifle/carbine punching holes in armored targets with the rocket-propelled bolts. You can even look at the tabletop rules - it shoots once just like IG lasgun, which is a laser version of, let's say, Garand or Mauser. The way they depicted bolters in Dawn of War 2 is closest to the gun's concept.

On another note why are space marines riding an imperial guard Valkarie as they should be riding in a thunderhawk. Was it to water down the game to make it easier for people who don't have much background to the game to understand what is happening? Or maybe it was because a thunderhawk wouldn't of allowed the same encounter as this one? I hope they don't water it down too much.

Guess its because that kind of scenario can't be done on a Thunderhawk. On another note, i heard a Guard pilot talking while its all happening so i guess he just tagged along with them.

Just to say that warhammer was here first with this chainsaw fest stuff and what not, it was made back in 1987 so It predates most notable games. I think epic games took some ideas from the 40k universe. Like the very gothic looking buildings and story. Also people who say that gears is deep arn't really referring to the game as that the games don't really go that deep at all.

GoW read and deep? I'm a big fan of GoW but oh my... The 40k universe is so deep you'd need a life time to read every book, novel, rulebook, codex, history and not to mention there are over 12 factions and thousends upon thousends of chapters, companys, battalions etc etc. I take it back.. you would need MORE than a life time to go as deep as 40k.

probably the greatest benefit of the bolter is, since the bolts are primarily self-propelled, it can hold a lot of ammunition per clip. After all, it only needs enough brass to get the bolt out of the barrel. :D

There is possibility that there >could< be an automatic pattern of the bolter, but that would be rare. Just look at all the old games - the bolter was always a semi-automatic rifle/carbine punching holes in armored targets with the rocket-propelled bolts. You can even look at the tabletop rules - it shoots once just like IG lasgun, which is a laser version of, let's say, Garand or Mauser. The way they depicted bolters in Dawn of War 2 is closest to the gun's concept.

One Space Wolves, the other Black Templar. best buy pre-order gives you 2 chaos chapter skins, one Iron Warriors, and the other the Emperor's Children. but yes, personally customizing your character's armor to fit any chapter would be Godly amazing.
